  1. We all know about baby bass lures, the fry were to small too look like a baby anything haha...thousands of them.. I get the survival of the fittest thing, just seems to go against the purpose of the spawn. Like stated above, its worked for a gazillion years haha. Was just curious if there were any other explanations.
  2. im not sure if there will be boundries on how far we can run, but thanks for the info...i will deff keep that in mind...can u get to small mouth in a 20' triton? lol
  3. so for the most part... stuff made of plastic
  4. im gonna invent a hybrid bass boat and pull it with a prius
  5. Male or female... Why would it be called guarding if they eat them? This was a 3+ fish so that is why i thought it may have been the female.
  6. Yesterday while fishing a small tournament, my partner and I saw several fish guarding fry. We saw one several times through out the day while checking beds. She appeared to be swimming through the ball of fry and eating them; why would this fish be eating the babies she was guarding? Or is there another explaination for that kind of behavior?
  7. guess im asking in the wrong place? there isn't much info on it by google search either.. ive heard from a few people in my area that the quality of the fish isn't very good...but some decent smallmouth can be found if you go up enough. anyway..thanks again
  8. Anything will help. Have the fed mid atlantic there in september. Just looking for a good starting point for practice.
  9. why? its easier to get the fish in the boat with a net
  10. i tie it with the improved clinch knott...i dont like to use the palomar because i have had issues with it breaking when i am using flurocarbon on light line...i have never had any problems with the improved clinch...very solid and dependable knott...i use a gammy #2 hook for 4 inch worms and a #1 for 5-6 inch worms and texas rig it...works well for me
  11. I have always wondered this, FLW allows them and every tournament i have ever fished has allowed them. I was just wondering what the reasoning behind this rule is...
  12. drop shot rigged robo worm...shakey head with several diff worms...pointer 78, fluke in baby bass or baitfish, really depends on when and where im fishing...
  13. ever heard of a pm?thats typically what you use when having a personal disscusion...thanks for the report...could have done without all the jibber jabber though
  14. i would get the 7' mhvy..crankin rods tend to be alot lighter than the action suggests...plus i like to have a bit more back bone...its personal preferance really...the 7ft will get you more casting distance..gander mountain has a crankin rod for like 30 bucks...a buddy of mine gave me one and its not bad to be honest...i have actually used it quit a bit...kind of a pleasent supirse
  15. what is the best type of knot to tie when using braid and a 1oz or heavier tungsten weight for flipping? i was told to use a snell knot to keep the weight from cutting the line, but i wouldnt think this should be and issue with 50lb braid
  16. funny how he never comes around when you are broke
  17. I've solved that muddy. My personal best caught this past weekend! 9lbs!!! And before the big bass guys start, that's a BIG frying pan. that makes me hungry...is that a beer batter or some sort?
  18. its good stuff! very soft and limp to! great product!
  19. shimano is a better product than quantum...im basing this opinion on experience...i have 3 stradics, one of them i have had for more than 6 years and it still works great, its one of the 2000 models you cant get anymore, all of the shimano baitcasters i have are long lasting and reliable also...i have had 2 quantum spinning reels and two bait caster...on of the baitcasters is an accurist pt..when you cast it with a little bit heavier lure it sounds like the gears are going to strip out of it...i have an energy pt..it is in good working condition but that weird looking color changing coating the put on them has mostly peeled off..looks like crap...the spinning reels have been descent i guess...i just trust shimano, i have never had any problems out of any or there reels and some of them have been abused...
  20. was at the lake fishing a friday night tournament last night and caught a 30+ flathead catfish...took me a bit of chasing it with the trolling motor and it made a bunch of good runs...but there were several times when i was sure the line was going to break and it never did...it was 10 lb test flurocarbon coated fluorescent copolymer i think...im pretty sure it was the cx in the gray box. i was amazed it didnt break..just wanted to share this story and let you guys know that they make a quality product
  21. allluring baits fit in when you want a quality bait without paying the ripoff prices of big brand stuff...
  22. i throw different stuff till i figure out what is working...this is why we like to carry 5-10 different rods...so we can effectivley prestent the different baits that may be required for the current situation.
  23. shimano crucial... pick one up and you will know why
  24. The spools I got were only $6.50 each......a rod and a reel cost a bit more than that. 100 x 6.50=$650.00. OVER TIME you might even need more than 100 spools of line. Last time I looked a excellent rod and a reel cost a bit less than that. why would you buy 100 spools...all he is doing is carrying extra spools incase he wants to go up or down in line weight....you have to change line on any rod and reel...this is a good way to save space like he is trying to do...i carry extra spools for night tournaments mainly...why its still day light i will use the flurocarbon..then switch to the fluorescent to work with the black light after dark...very useful and the spools came with my stradics when i bought them..i have never bought a spinning reel that didnt come with a spare spool...
