Two new rods, pick two lines for me.
Ahem. Just looking for those. I don't need specific manufacturers in all honesty. I've got the lines I like for the most part. Thanks for the recommendations though. My fault for not being more specific.

Two new rods, pick two lines for me.
I've found myself swapping lines a lot recently when I bought a few new rods. I've got the setups for my other rods pretty well figured out. These two I have been flip flopping back and forth on though. Both reels will be Citicas. Both rods will be used for similar techniques, the second rod will be used in situations where the cover is too heavy for the first rod. Rod #1 - Dobyns 733: Traps, shallow cranks, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, light texas rigs. Will also be used for poppers and spooks on occasion. Lighter cover/open water rod. Rod #1 - Dobyns 734: Traps, spinnerbaits, texas rigs, jigs, senkos. This rod will also be used for pitching into moderate cover. I'm sure I forgot one or two things on each rod, but I bet you can get the idea. These will be both multipurpose rods. The lines I have available here are the house are the following: Fluoro: XPS 12, 14, 17 AbrazX 12, 15 Co-Poly: Yo-Zuri Hybrid 8, 12, 15 And lastly braid. Size isn't my concern here.

Do you guys want to do anthor Lure Swap
I can't tell if that is sarcastic or not. Following along with the thread, seems like ol' BC made out like a bandit. Sure appears to be that way. I'm glad I didn't participate in this one. Lure swaps shouldn't be used as a trash bag to toss in your old, rusted, beat up junk. If something has been used a few times and is still in good shape, no problem. Nobody wants an old rusted crank that you found hanging from a tree at the lake.

Fantastic pics, RoLo. I bet that was absolutely amazing to see happen next to you. Pictures like these are the reason I truly love the outdoors.

line to line knot
Alberto (Modified Albright) or the Albright Special are the only two line to line knots I use now. Both of them are fairly easy to tie, the Albright has a bit of a smaller profile, but it is a longer knot. The Alberto is a bit thicker, it's also shorter than the Albright. Both of them are fantastic knots. If I'm joining two lines that are noticeably different in size, I'll tie the Alberto 100% of the time.

Power pro
One of the joys of fishing and having such a huge market to choose from. I've never really been a fan of fluoro, I'm giving it a fair shot though. Experimenting is really fun. You never know when you may find that perfect line that you really like.

Power pro
You'll probably never hear me complain about Power Pro. You're getting exactly what you pay for. It's been great to me. Plus it's just strong. Goofy strong. As far as 832 goes, I'll pass. I was not impressed with it at all.

Soldiers, Veterans and every one else that protects this great country..
You know, it's funny. When I joined the Army I never really thought of it as a sacrifice. During the entire time the thought never really crossed my mind. Sure I spent a ton of time away from my family, friends, and home. It never really seemed to be that big of a deal. Now as I get older and enjoy civilian life, I realize how big of a sacrifice it really is. I've got nothing but the utmost respect for all of the service members, both prior and active. Threads like this really make me think about the importance of some of the things I was a part of in the past, and appreciate everybody who thanks all of the service members. Thanks to everybody currently serving, along with those who have. Thanks to those people out there that truly thank those that have served.

10.72 million dollar base pay equal to slavery.
I'd be more than willing to make darn near 11 million a year to be a "slave" that plays a game.

Any goals or "resolutions" for this season?
My only "goal" is to catch a 13 pounder. I'll take a bigger one too if it happens to show up. ;D

Was I really supposed to keep my reel from getting wet?
x2 Senators are the old standby big game saltwater trolling reel. I've still got a few here at the house that are antiques that are still in working order. I used mine up until I graduated to Internationals. There is no reason that it getting wet should have had any adverse effect on the reel. It isn't all that uncommon to dump buckets of water on the reel to cool them down when you've got a very hard running fish. I've done it multiple times and have never had a problem with any of my reels. Sounds like you need to send it in to somebody that deal with large reels and have it serviced. As far as price goes, that will all depend on whats wrong with it. Most places will have a base service charge, then charge you for parts. They're a fairly simple reel to work on yourself, but as you said, you're a novice. I'd send it in to somebody who knows what they're doing.

To all you fishermen looking for sponsors/pro staff positions...
Try this: "Thank you for your tips on writing a resume. I have begun the search for sponsers, so I will send you a resume for your consideration. Thank you, Easternpafisherman" Everyone should have a second person read over an application/resume for errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Find someone that is an avid reader, perhaps a business person, and over 35 years of age. Ahem. Ahem. Yeah. ;D

Shimano Rod Warranty????
From that standpoint, it does make sense. BTW, the both BPS down here are no longer doing the over the counter Shimano warranty. After 30 days, you need to deal directly with the manufacturer.
-
Shimano Rod Warranty????
This issue isn't about BPS and being able to return it. I think most of us will agree that BPS is generally very good able handling returns. The problem is that he didn't buy it from BPS. That store shouldn't even be mentioned in this specific situation.
-
Shimano Rod Warranty????
Or he could actually be honest and not try to screw some store that has absolutely nothing to do with his situation. Call Shimano, Philsoreel. They'll be more than happy to help you. You may also want to send a PM to Bantam1. He's the resident Shimano guru. I'm sure you'll be paying something, but it'll probably be less than the cost of a new rod. Only takes a moment to pick up the phone and give them a buzz.

Cheap, abrasion resistent mono ???
Big Game is some seriously strong line. I don't have enough experience with it to really comment on it's abrasion resistance. I've used Ande for 30 years and have never had a complaint. It's cheap and works darn good. The one thing with Ande, when you buy 15 pound line, expect it to break at 15 pounds. If you're looking for brute strength, something like Big Game, CXX, or a co-poly like Yo-zuri may be the better choice. I've found that co-polymer lines are generally more abrasion resistant as well.

another Line Question: braid vs fluor. Which one is more sensitive?
Braid: Extremely sensitive on a tight line. Because of how soft braid is, the more slack in the line, the greater the loss of sensitivity. Little to no stretch. Fluoro: Not quite as sensitive as braid. Because of how dense the material it's made from is, you maintain a good sensitivity through a semi slack line. Contrary to most marketing hype, fluorocarbon isn't a low stretch line. It's very comparable to most co-poly lines and nylon mono lines. A Co-poly line will give you a very nice mix of regular nylon mono and a 100% fluorocarbon. It's not quite as sensitive as a 100% fluoro while it is more sensitive than a nylon mono. This line will also have about an equal amount of stretch as most fluorocarbon lines. Of course, each line will behave differently based upon the resins used to make each individual product. Nothing replaces watching your line.

FINALLY DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- reel adjustments
I'm not familiar with the reel, but how much distance do you actually need? Flippin is a short line technique, you're usually using a fixed length of line about a rod length or two from the tip. You're not trying to toss the lure out sixty yards.- Leader to braid - swivel and clip to preserve leader?
No swivel. Unless you're using an excessive amount of line to tie your knots, anywhere from a 4 to 6 foot leader will last you for quite a while. I personally use filler spools of fluoro mainline for my leader material and have never had a problem with it. The cost is minimal when you consider how long that spool of line will last you. The only rod I use a snap on is my cranking/spook rod. I'll swap out cranks frequently, so a snap makes sense in that situation. Otherwise, it takes all of a minute to tie a good line to lure knot. You're not going to be loosing much fishing time if you need to swap lures out. - reel adjustments
