Your rod/reel/line arsenal
Casting: Dobyns 704 - Shimano Citica w/12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid -- Texas rigs, jigs, bottom contact Dobyns 733 - Shimano Citica w/12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid -- Cranks, lipless cranks, small spinnerbaits Dobyns 734 - Shimano Citica w/15lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid -- Spinnerbaits, senkos, plastics in moderate cover Shimano Crucial CRCX76MH - Shimano Citica w/50lb Power Pro -- Heavy cover, frogs, flippin Pinnacle 762CAMH - Shimano Cardiff w/40lb Power Pro -- Swimbaits, horny toads, buzzbaits, jigs Spinning: Shimano Crucial CRSDX72M - Shimano Sahara w/20lb Power Pro + leader -- Drop Shot, lightweight texas rigs, giggy heads Going to give the Yo-Zuri a thorough testing for the next few months now that I've got some different rods to play around with. So far so good. If I end up not liking it, I'll probably switch the three rods that have it back over to braid with a leader.

Tying a leader to braided line
It will be slimmer. It will also be much stronger of a knot. Another advantage of the Alberto and Albright knots is that the fluorocarbon portion of the knot gets encapsulated by the braid. Makes for a little more secure of a connection.

Fishing loxahatchee with South FLA
Great fish, guys. Robert knows where those big girls hang out at on the lake and at the refuge. Sure wish I was fishing right now.

Punch skirts
I've got a bunch of the dirty jigs punch skirts. Don't have a problem with any of them. Sounds like you may have had a dud that got through the QC process.

Jadeveon Clowney to Carolina!
Good football without the excessively overpaid players comes to mind. Well, it's not good if you're in the Big 10 region. ;D

Jadeveon Clowney to Carolina!
Good. I can't stand the Gators. The only thing cultured in Gainesville is the bacteria. That place is a dump.

Trokar hooks are they worth the price??
Small finishing nail cut in half and bent out about 45 degrees works great. Shrink wrap it on and you're good to go. As far as the Trokars go, I've tried them, and won't use them again. The points roll on them after a few fish. Nowhere near worth it to me at the price tag. I'll stick with primarily using Owner and Gamakatsu hooks.

Jadeveon Clowney to Carolina!
yawn Like Root Beer said, it don't matter. They aren't winning the SEC anytime soon.

Favorite Knot for Braid to Fluro?
My fingers are already anticipating it....

knot help..what knot is this?
Like Francho said, that video is an Alberto also known as a Modified Albright knot. In a traditional albright, you're only wrapping the line around itself towards the hook. With the Alberto you wrap it up the standing line, and then back down towards the hook. Mike L: Experimentation is key. Some people wrap it up to 20 or more times. It all really depends on what you're comfortable with and the thickness of the line being tied.

Favorite Knot for Braid to Fluro?
For any line to leader connection the Albright Special or Alberto are about as good as they get. Ultra compact knot, very easy to tie, and far stronger than other line to line splices. For line to lure, especially with fluoro, I'm a big fan of the 16-20 knot (aka Pitzen knot, aka 6 turn hangmans noose).

Potty training my 3 year old...
x2 I used M&M's. Same principle. Minus the star wars figure. Was pain free and quick. Both of my daughters were basically potty trained before they turned three. The only drawback is that they both love chocolate now. I can still bribe them with M&M's to get stuff done around the house even when they don't want to do chores. It's fantastic. Just a few more years until a couple of pieces of candy will have them cutting the yard and trimming all the hedges/bushes around the house.

Favorite decade for music?
Gotta agree with Chris. I really like far too much music to limit myself to a decade. There has been so much good music made over so many years in so many different genres.

Dobyns SS 704 or SS 734
Said hell with it and bought both. Was having a hard time deciding between two 734's, one of each, or a 734 and 735. I've already got a few rods here that are very similar to the 735's so I nixed that idea. Going to use the 704 as a dedicated worm and jig rod. The 733 I already have and the 734 will both be multi use rods. I'm guessing 12 pound hybrid on the 33 and 15 pound on the 34. I generally like having a longer rod. But I do see the need for a shorter rod as well. I'm replacing a 6'10" Crucial with the 704. Decided that I should probably stick in the same basic length. Now I just need to buy a 735 sometime in the future along with probably another 734.....Thank God this is the busy time of the year for my business.

Just bought some Ande monofilament
I used to fish Ande exclusively when my father and I would go record chasing in saltwater. It breaks right where it's rated at. Good line. With all the newer monos and co-polys, Ande has fallen to the wayside. You can get much more strength in a smaller diameter using other lines. Ande is still the standard used by the IGFA though. If you're chasing a line class record, it's Ande or nothing for me.

New Fishing Shoes???
I give everybody on the forums permission to slap me right in the face if I'm ever caught wearing those things. Pardon me a moment. The sight of those things made me throw up in my mouth a bit.

Beaver Style Baits
T-rigged, c-rigged, pitched, flipped, jig trailer, drop shotted. You can do just about anything with a beaver style lure.
-
Favorite soft plastic
x2 Gotta love those dippers on a weighted hook. Great lure to fish weightless as well. Otherwise, a beaver style bait and a creature of some kind would round out my favorites. Kind of hard to beat the old plastic worm as well.

Avid or ???
After messing around with Avids, Crucials and other comparable rods, I've gone the Dobyns route. In that price range I don't think you can beat a Savvy. A 3 power would probably fit the bill for you. A 703 or 733 would work great. That Avid you're looking at is a great stick. No doubt about it. If you're able, I'd definitely see if you have a place or a person locally so you can compare the rods to each other. Find which one fits you're hands the best.

Turn your volume UP.
If its setup for racing, that's what it sounds like. Its amazing in person. I'm lucky enough to be a few hours from Watkin's Glen. If you have the opportunity, check out some sports car races. x2 There aint much sweeter than hearing the race exhausts. I haven't been to Watkin's Glen yet, would love to see a race there. I try as hard as possible to get to Sebring each year. I've done the 24 Hours of Le Mans once. I REALLY want to go see that again. Unreal. I don't think there is any place better to go and hang out at the track. Even the French people are cool around Le Mans. Just don't insult the Peugeot's.....

Amazing QB video
Pretty cool video right there.

Dobyns SS 704 or SS 734
Hopefully one of you out there has some experience with both rods. I'd assume the Champions fish very similar. I'm wondering if theres any major difference between the two rods besides the three inches in length. Sitting here trying to decide which one to order. Thanks a bunch.

What to do with old reels?
If they're not worth it to you to sell them, and they're in good working condition, donate them to Cast For Kids. http://www.castforkids.org/ Otherwise, store them somewhere to use for a guest or as a backup reel. Never hurts to have a few spares.
