  1. Every single day. Unless the weather is really bad, I'll be fishing one way or another. It may be only for an hour or two, but I will get a line wet 365 days of the year. If I'm out of town...thats a different story.
  2. I primarily use 12 pound Hybrid on a Dobyns 733 for traps. Has enough oomph to rip a rattlebait out of grass. If it starts to get a bit too thick, I'll switch over to a 30 or 40 pound braid on the same rod.
  3. Saw it on the news this morning. Crazy stuff. I hope your family is ok. I'm keeping everybody affected by this in my prayers.
  4. That should be fun. You going out chasing those giant Reds again?
  5. Yeesh, Steve. I'm not sure I'd ever leave that lake.... Great fish as always. WTG.
  6. Agreed about the price. The skinny dipper knock off looks interesting. That Skeet craw doesn't look bad either. The price is definitely an attractive selling point.
  7. I've been experimenting with fluoro a bit lately. It's not bad. I can certainly see a use for it. You will have more sensitivity with it on a slack line presentation than you will with braid. I'm not completely sold on it though. From my experience, there are some castability issues, and the memory can be a bit aggravating at times.
  8. x2 Every time Griffin goes to dunk a ball, he looks like he's trying to tear the rim down. The kid in the video definitely doesn't have that.
  9. They were winning? SECSECSECSECSEC
  10. I got into it when I was younger. Saltwater was just part of life down here in southern Florida. My brother eventually worked in the aquarium business for a while. I wish I had the time right now to really get back into it. It was a lot of fun when we were able to collect fish from the reefs to bring back into the tanks. Maybe I'll think about putting a tank together again for the kids. They love fish tanks. Now I just need to find a happy spot in the house...
  11. I'm really the only person that actively fishes the lake. There are a few kids that will fish the bank once in a while. On a rare occasion, one of the neighbors will take their boat out and do a little fishing. Thats mostly when they have company over with kids. I explained to them that having some grass in the lake is a benefit. It will keep the waters cleaner, etc etc. I completely understand the need to keep the water open enough so water will flow and not get stagnant. Heck, I don't want stagnant water myself. Whether it's coincidence or not, I'm not going to complain. I haven't seen the lake this healthy in quite a while. The population of fish in the lake is slowly getting larger, along with the size of the fish. When I was cruising around yesterday I was very surprised to see the amount of juvenile bluegill, redear sunfish, and bass cruising around in the shallows. Heres to hoping it stays this way for a while.
  12. Tell you what, Doug. After watching that again, I may bring my drop shot rod up there with me whenever I get to the pit with you. That could just be ridiculously fun. ;D
  13. I asked them to. They were really doing a number on it. Now there are actual colonies of grass growing. It's pretty cool. I think they also did a small restocking here as well. I saw a carp in this lake. I haven't seen one in the lake in 7 or 8 years. Mind you, lots of the lakes in this area are interconnected, so it could have came through the culverts as well.
  14. X-Rap Xcalibur XT3 Both have always produced fish for me.
  15. Rods: Dobyns, Shimano Reels: Shimano Line: Yo-Zuri Hybrid, Power Pro, XPS Fluoro Hard baits: Xcalibur, Megabass, Strike King, Rapala Soft baits: Rage Tail, Zoom, Reaction Innovations, Gambler Storage: Plano
  16. Definitely the Magic Eraser. Works perfectly. I use the original one. Not the heavy duty or extra scrubbing power type. Just get it wet, squeeze out the excess water, and rub away. Cork comes out brand new looking afterwards.
  17. Rod: Dobyns SS 704c Line: 14lb XPS Fluoro Reel: Citica Lure: Zoom Mag II in Black. 1/4 Tungsten Weight - unpegged So, I get home from work a few minutes early. I don't have to leave to pick up the kids from school for a few minutes and figure I might as well get outside and wet a line. The lake I live on is really starting to get healthy again. The HOA has actually listened a bit and isn't spraying the lake nearly as aggressively as they have in the past. There is a nice amount of hydrilla growth now in several portions of the lake. Grass means bass. And the bass are here and getting healthy. I toss out a texas rigged worm, second cast I land a three pounder. Cool. Toss it out in another direction and end up hooking up with this fish: Biggest fish to date that came out of the lake. 6.1 on the scale. Sorry for the picture quality, I couldn't find my good camera. This thing is several years old and rarely gets used. I actually had to change the batteries while I was holding the fish. Thankfully I've got an aerated well that I was able to hold her in for a few moments. Man I love living here! 8-)
  18. Congrats! If I have another kid, I definitely would love to have a boy. Although, I know what kind of monster I was as a kid....maybe I should stick with what I've got now.
  19. Great video, Doug. I can't wait to get out to the pit. Now I just need to find some free time......
  20. x2 I've found this knot to be much more secure than the Palomar. I won't argue that the Palomar may be a stronger knot, but you have to tie it perfectly with fluoro. The Pitzen is extremely easy to tie. It very rarely will seat incorrectly.
  21. Good stuff right there. Lox has been on fire lately.
  22. Hybrid isn't a fluoro. fyi Hybrid has become one of my favorite lines. It's just so smooth casting. I'm able to present lures far better with it. I've tried fluoro but I just don't like the manageability issues that come with it. The feel that you do have with 100% fluoro is pretty darn nice though. I won't deny that at all.
  23. As much as I want to go out and buy a big rig, I'm glad I primarily fish out of a small boat powered by a couple of trolling motors. My lake is part of my backyard, so I really don't have to go anywhere. Once in a while I'll drive the car over to a larger lake to launch the boat, but thats about a five minute drive. I feel bad for the people with the larger boats that can't afford to take them out right now. Heres to hoping gas prices start to drop.
  24. I've got the same rod. Use it for drop shotting primarily. Shaky heads once in a while and other light line techniques. Works fantastic. Couldn't be happier with that rod.
  25. Odd. I can't view them at all when using Chrome. In IE, theres no problems. Thats a bit frustrating.
