  1. I agree it's a hook issue. Off set and EWG worm hooks work well rigged like the 1st pic. The only time I don't push the worm all the way through is if I'm using a straight shank hook. I will push the point into the worm but not out the other side. I've never seen anyone rig a worm like the 2nd picture.
  2. I never use a weight with a Fluke. For me, the slow fall and gliding action is what makes the Fluke a great bait. If I were going to weight a Fluke I would put it on a jig head. I will use a Fluke on a split shot rig or C-rig but the weight is still off the bait a bit.
  3. This is a situation where the a-rig can really pay off also.
  4. I like a 4" or 5" Big Hammer swimbait with this type of swimjig.
  5. What you have picked out is a good shaky head jig. Salt actually makes the bait sink but it sinks slowly. A Trick Worm is great on a shaky head. You should be good to go.
  6. My preference for those techniques is a baitcasting rod, 7' MHF to about 7'3" MHF. Of the rods you mentioned, I have St Croix SCV's and really like them. I imagine you would be very happy with St. Croix SCIII and up, Gloomis IMX and up or Dobyns Champion or Champ Extreme. Try to handle some in the store and pick what feels best to you.
  7. I had no idea. I will have to start checking Walmart for deals on tackle.
  8. The Smoking Rooster is a bait I discovered this year. Well, not discovered but gave a fair shot. It quickly became one of my favorite pitch baits when I wanted more action than a beaver. I also caught fish swimming it over pads and dropping it into holes, kind of like a weighted toad. Great bait.
  9. I believe that rod has been discontinued...or TW isn't carrying them anymore. They were in the clearance section for awhile. They do keep out of stock items on the site, often with a date listed of when they expect it to be restocked. I wish they had a wish list or a way to save your cart. It can sometimes be a pain to go back and find everything you had added to your cart.
  10. I am curious how the Edge rods perform in the sensitivity department. I would think the carbon fiber grips would really transmit vibration well. I imagine the NFC HM blanks would compete with the others mentioned but I don't really know.
  11. I don't normally use trailers on spinnerbaits or buzzbaits. I do use skirts that have extended strands that act like a trailer though. I always use trailers on jigs.
  12. I have 2 customs built on SCV blanks with spiral wrapped micro guides. They are the most sensitive rods I have ever fished. I've never fished a NRX or any Megabass rods though.
  13. He's talking about adding 4X hooks. That's quite a bit of additional weight. I don't have any idea how it would effect a Spook but I imagine there are some baits that it would greatly effect. It could sink a topwater bait or at the very least, pull it down so deep that it becomes hard to walk.
  14. I'm with you. If I can't hit something with my sq bill, I'm going to tie on something else.
  15. I love high speed reels for anything slack line, (jigs, t rigs, c rigs, punching, Senkos, etc) and frogs. When you work the bait with the rod, reel speed doesn't really effect the retrieve. For moving baits like crankbaits, jerkbaits, topwater, spinnerbaits, etc, I like a slower reel. I tend to reel faster than I should and a slower reel keeps me from overdoing it. I also like the added torque you get from lower geared reels for cranks and spinnerbaits.
  16. I try to remember to reboot my Galaxy every few days. It will occasionally have weird little hiccups if I don't.
  17. I just did a Google search, not sure what site it came off of. It's all over the web though and there's more than that. I just wanted to show that he fully admits to spanking the boy and doesn't feel as though he's done anything wrong.
  18. Quote from Peterson When Peterson was asked how he felt about the incident, he said, “To be honest with you, I feel very confident with my actions because I know my intent.” He also described the incident as a “normal whooping” in regards to the “welps” on the child’s buttocks, but that he felt bad immediately when he saw the injuries on the child’s legs. Peterson estimated he “swatted” his son “10 to 15” times, but he’s not sure because he doesn’t “ever count how many pops I give my kids.
  19. If you're going to be changing out hooks on baits, hook sizes should be common knowledge. You should have figured that out before you started. Expecting people to list hook sizes when they recommend swapping hooks is silly and lazy.
  20. Too many people seem to want to ask questions without reading first, (I'm speaking in general, not about the OP.) It just seems like a lot of people have lost the ability to think for themselves. When I start into a new venture I read everything I can find. I want to learn everything I possibly can, I don't understand people who don't have that same point of view. People are getting lazier and dumber.
  21. The way I understood it, the mother took the child to the dr for immunizations (or something) and the dr reported it. AP has been upfront about it and released a statement saying that he loves his kids and spanked them with a switch for punishment when they acted up. He didn't realize the switch was wrapping around his leg until it was too late. FWIW, he doesn't think he did anything wrong, just normal punishment. It sure looks bad though.
  22. Dude come on, there are like 3 sizes of hooks on 95% of hardbaits. 6, 4 and 2. 6 is the smallest and 2 is the largest. Spend some time learning your gear and you won't have to ask so many basic questions online.
  23. My guess is you can order one here. http://cl8bait.com/possum6.php
