Deep Cranking Dobyns Rod Suggestions
My thoughts exactly. I prefer a longer rod for deep cranks to help with casting distance.

Deep Cranking Dobyns Rod Suggestions
This is my experience as well, especially for deeper/heavier cranks.

Awesome, looking forward to it Tony.

Deps Buzzjet
Keep it in mind and we'll touch base after the first of the year and see if we can figure something out. I'll be ready for a few days off in march or april.

Deps Buzzjet
I'm sorry to hear that man. We should get together next spring, I'd love to head north and do some fishing.

Deps Buzzjet
Doing great, just been working a lot. You?

Deps Buzzjet
You sold it to me lol. It was the big one. I've only fished it a few times and haven't caught anything on it but it does look great in the water.

My go to jig color is some variation of green pumpkin.

Lures You Tried In 2014 That Did Work
Rage Space Monkey was a new bait for me this year. I caught numbers and size pitching and even swimming it.

Lightweight Guides
I don't know how much extra weight it will add, an ounce doesn't sound out of the question though. The problem is the extra weight will be in the worst possible place, out toward the tip. It will definitely negatively effect the performance of the blank, compared to micros, which are really light. If that's how he likes his rods, he probably won't know the difference, I sure would though. What kind of rod will it be, for what techniques?

My Rod Is Better Than Yours
Even if I know for sure I'm only fishing 1 bait the entire day, I still have extra rods rigged with different colors, weights, line, etc. If I'm pond hopping, I might only get one rod out of the car but there are others ready if I need them.

Lake Fork Craw Tube??
Big Bite Baits makes a version and Barlow's sells a version in their house brand. If LFT stops selling them, at least you will still be able to get the same shape.

Cork Or Eva Grips?
I much prefer a split grip, the butt grip suits my 2 handed casting style. I think a nice cork with some burl mixed in looks the best and is how I build most of my rods. That said, a good, hard eva is fine too. I would much rather have hard eva than cork that is full of filler. I've also used the shrink tubing like the Carbonlites have, I think it looks cheap but the grip is awesome.

Ewg Hooks Snag More?
In theory, the EWG should be more snag resistant because the hook point is in line with the line tie. The line should "guide" the hook point around snags. This is also the same reason EWG hooks are said to have a worse hook up ratio than regular offset hooks.

New Location And Gameplan
When you get to Ft. Worth, there are a couple of places that do demo days (I live in Dallas). You will be able to take a few kayaks out and get a feel for them. They can also help outfit you with the basics. I wouldn't go crazy rigging your kayak until you've been out a few times and have a better idea of what you want and where you want it. Expect to spend at least a few hundred dollars on a paddle, pfd, crate, rod holders ect... All that stuff adds up. I also highly recommend some kind of fish finder. Even a basic unit will help your fishing tremendously. There is also a very large group of kayak fishermen in the metroplex, they have get togethers and are a tight knit group who love welcoming new people into the fray. This is a great way for someone new to kayaking and new to the area to make new friends and learn from people with more experience. Feel free to pm me and I can give you a little more local info.

Medium Action Casting Rod For Texas Rigs/hardheads
You're actually asking about power. Fast is the action. I prefer a MH power rod for those applications. I currently use a St. Croix in MHF, although not in the Mojo line.

Kistler Klx Deals... Get A Free Carbon Steel!
I got an email from Kistler announcing the sale on Monday, so it must have ended last night. You probably got in just before it ended. If I had any extra money I would have jumped on the deal too. There is a local Mom and Pop store here that carries the KLX line. I've played with them some and they seem to be very nice rods. I intend to buy one in the not too distant future.

Flw To Cut Co-Anglers In 2016
Yeah, I guess you're right. I got that info from another site that linked to the FLW page. The other site either got it wrong or I misunderstood completely. My mistake. I will see if I can find anything else about it but this is straight from FLW so I'm sure it's right. Sorry about that.
