I think the guides on the Duckett's are a size 4. They look tiny but don't detract from casting performance, unless you're trying to pass leader knots. I use 20 lb fluoro with size 4 guides all the time.

I use micro guides for everything. I don't really flip but they don't negatively effect pitching at all.

I would like to try one of the Megabass Hedgehogs. I don't really drop shot much though.

Learn to use casting gear. You will end up with a combo that weighs 1/3 of what an equal powered spinning combo would weigh. Plus, your options are limitless compared to spinning.

I have a couple of 100 D's. They are solid little reels that are very well built. I like them better and use them more than my 50 E's. They aren't finesse casters but you can buy a 50 MG spool for them for $40 that should make them better. Around here a gently used 100 D goes for about $80-$100.

No problem. I've been considering a KLX, so I've been on their website a lot lately. That's the only reason I know that.

The new Heliums are NFC as well. The Carbon Steel is the only other line they offer but I'm not sure where those blanks are made. The Carbon Steel rods are made over seas so I imagine the blanks are too. The Z-bone, Helium and KLX are all NFC, made in TX.

Most of the new Kistler rods use North Fork Composite blanks, Gary Loomis' company. Any breakage associated with the old rods shouldn't be an issue as the blanks are different.

If only it were that easy. It depends on the rod, the jig, the line and the cover being fished. Not all rods are rated the same and not all jigs are 1/2 oz.
