If you love your Carbonlites, why not stick with it?

I bought a bait off of ebay a few weeks ago that the seller said had KVD trebles. They looked exactly like regular KVD's but they had the same points as the one's pictured. I honestly don't know what to think. What I do know is all the KVD Triple Grips I have ever bought have needle points with no flat edges.

How do you like the Volkey? Do you have a 1 piece or 2? I've been considering one for awhile.

I agree with Mattlure's bluegill baits, the most realistic on the market. Another really good bluegill imitating bait is the deep bodied prop bait. The Lucky Craft Kelly J, Brian's Prop Bee and Stanford Lures Turbo Shad are good examples. These baits are great worked around bluegill beds and anywhere else bluegill are present.

I have mostly custom rods that I've built with 4 or 5 factory rods thrown in the mix. The factory rods are from different manufacturers and the custom rods are built on a variety of blanks. I do build them the way I like them though, so there is some consistency in that. I've never found switching between rods to be a problem.

Yeah, it depends on what the item is, how much it costs and how quickly "I have to have it." I do try to support the privately owned local places as much as possible though. The problem is the local stores often don't have the selection of the online retailers.

I agree. Mustad Triple Grips should have needle points, like the size 2 in your pic. Notice how the 6 and 4 have flat sides toward the point? That isn't the way Mustad sharpens their hooks.

I went to Best Buy tonight to get a Galaxy S4 for free with my upgrade. They are $200 in AT&T stores. I was back at home an hour and a half after I walked out my door. It was well worth it to me.

I do the vast majority of my online shopping at TW, Ebay and direct from the manufacturer, mostly small bait companies.

I never have much luck with buzzbaits. I have caught a few fish on them but I don't have much confidence in them. Obviously they work but there are other topwaters I like better.

Try the Spro McStick 115, it's a floater.

The search function is your friend.

Boing lures are hand painted by a well known custom bait painter and have some kind of noise chamber in them. You are paying for a well made bait with a custom paint job and a noise emission system. I don't have any of these baits but I would buy one to try out. The paint jobs look great.

I use the ewg short shanks in the KVD. I have other brands that I prefer for round bend hooks.

I spray my line pretty heavily when I spool up and then coat it good the night before a trip.

I put size 6 KVD's on mine.

Check out the River2Sea S Waver in the 168 size also. It's a proven bait for not a lot of money.

Those hooks will work fine, you just can't run the entire weight through the plastic. You have to rig the bait before you tie on the hook. Use the hook point to make the hole in the bait, like you normally would. Then, run the eye of the hook into the belly of the bait and out through the head. That way you don't risk tearing the bait by running the weight through it.

Are the stock hooks still on the bait?

Be sure and check out the Okuma Guide Select swimbait rods. They come very highly recommended and won't break the bank.

If the bait wasn't in the package, it was probably damaged. That's why it ended up on ebay. Ok, just looked at my 78's and they are different. Mine have 2 brass weights in the front, one on either side of the front hook post and they don't have any balls, except for a small one in the head. The pictures on TW are of the 100's, the weighting is different than the 78's. Also, the color on your bait doesn't look right, if it's ghost minnow. It should have brown in the head and a white belly that you can't see through without holding it up to the light.

If you're having trouble keeping contact with a jig, use a heavier one, switch to fluoro and slow down.
