  1. Baitcasters are better for heavier baits and heavier cover, as well as a few other things. Spinning combos are better for light line and light baits, as well as a few other things. You can use one or the other for everything but it won't be as efficient as using both. I use baitcasters about 97% of the time in my own fishing but I have "specialty" rods and reels to cover some techniques that would generally require spinning gear. I use casting gear because it's what I enjoy the most.
  2. I'd fish the heck out of those!
  3. I would probably look at the 7'6" HF for those weights and larger hollow bellys. Sorry, I see you already have the glass rod, I missed that on first read. You could try it and see how it works. It's less than ideal though.
  4. KVD takes his 2nd of the year!! Yep, he's lost it.
  5. Jordan Lee leading after day 2. Good for him, I would love to see him win this.
  6. I just read that Hackney's day 1 weight has been disqualified for fishing in an off limits area. He's going to have to catch a big bag tomorrow to regain some AOY points. What a bummer for him.
  7. It sounds like a great time to be at Cayuga!
  8. The opportunity to observe wildlife is one of my favorite fringe benefits of fishing.
  9. You won't find better baits at that price.
  10. KVD could use any gear he wanted, period.
  11. Happy for the fans in Cleveland, they deserved this one.
  12. Same. A lifetime of muscle memory is hard to overcome.
  13. Lefty, righty on reels really stands for what side the handle is on. Anyone can use either. I learned to fish with spin casting gear when I was a kid so a rh casting reel was natural for me. YMMV
  14. Great hat. I have the Outdoor Research Helios hat. It keeps my bald head sunburn free.
  15. Subscribe to their email list. They will email you anytime they have a sale.
  16. I generally prefer round bend trebles on topwater baits. I like the Owner st36's. I think a size 4 would probably be right for Magnum Pop-r's.
  17. Interesting, I'm not familiar with that line. I'll have to check it out.
  18. Check out Upton's Customs, they make a fantastic hand poured worm. Kicker Fish also makes a nice floating tail worm, called the High Tail Hole Shot, I think.
  19. Try this, keep playing with it as described and it will come out.
