  1. ive gotten to where if i get a big one on, along with keeping her tight, i go diggin'. meaning i put half my rod straight down in the water till i get her within netting distance.
  2. yeah i feel pretty confident in my reel settings, i've had these reels for over 2 years now, i'm just going to have to try the line conditioner as i wasn't aware it worked with braid. and yes the horny toads are heavier but the ribbits cause a tad more turbulence and its a good option to have when the conditions warrant it. thanks wayne
  3. buzz frog bite is on and i'm comfortable with my ribbit rigged on a 5/0 horny toad screw lock, so it's a fairly light set up to be throwing with 55 lb braid, and distance is lacking. also my line comes to a violent halt during mid-cast because of how light it is. and i have experimented to no end with brake settings but distance suffers even more. so how low can i go, considering i'll be fishing in and around full blown lily pad fields? by the way i'm using a 7'6" H rod.
  4. very cool pic, and i've enjoyed my you tube subscription. you got some cool videos, seem like a real cool cat. i like the one where the gator lunges at you.
  5. i think theres a leaf on the craw that makes it look like another appendage. ok so i'm curious about your retrieve. you say you were swimming that thing, is this a slow, steady retrieve, or a more erratic one?
  6. I've heard of people talking about flukes rigged on slider heads before. you probably just dont hear about it much cause it could still be a secret weapon. there's only one way to find out man. there's nothing better than finding success through experimentation based on intuition rather than just always using what the pros or everybody else uses. Be the bass. Also, i have caught a few bass on flukes rigged shakey head, but not while bed fishing. i cant see beds in my mudhole state lol
  7. congrats! but please delete magnum finesse worms from your post. it's um....illegal and, the uh....CIA/FBI will repel into your house and take them from you and plant chips into your skull and stuff
  8. go deeper and stay slow. how deep is this lake? are you able to locate a creek channel?
  9. so basically, just yank the hell out of it? great instructions
  10. sorry i'm late but I just saw your post and have been fishing CP lake a bunch recently. it is the perfect summer lake being deep and absolutely slammed with cover. i didn't start catching fish there till i started exploring the creek channel. its as close as youre gonna get to a path. all i do is locate the channel, cast my favorite plastics onto the flats on either side of the channel near cover, and drag it off the ledge into the creek channel. rinse and repeat all the way up the channel. preferably starting on the shallow end of the lake and working your way towards the levy if you get there early morning. also a couple years ago they introduced about 5000 threadfin shad to the lake which is starting to show greatly. i have seen a lot more surface activity recently than i have in the past, and the fish i am catching seem healthier. I've actually caught fish casting flukes towards surface activity and working them near the surface. holler if you have any thing you want to ask me, there are BIG fish in that lake!
  11. nice man. that water looks like prime time froggin
  12. yeah i couldn't log on for most of yesterday and today it takes 2-3 minutes, sometimes never, to load a page once i click something.
  13. i buy everything in Bama bug. Seems to be the perfect shade for my muddy fishholes.
  14. at least you have 3 mile an hour winds
  15. nice largie.3 pounds it looks like
  16. i got a few bags of those if you want me to send some em over to you cause i'm not throwing em anymore. no reason, i just don't throw finesse jigs a whole lot. they're great little trailers though but honestly there are trailers out there that float better. i've caught fish with em though no doubt. got anything you wanna trade? i have junebug, fall craw, orange craw, and i think bluegill, i'll have to check
  17. Likewise Catt, never had any luck. You'd think they'd filter out all the dinks through intimidation and catch the big girls, but it's not the case. One of those things I just gotta accept even if I don't understand it. Easier looking meal maybe? Hey Catt have you thrown a Game Hawg yet? They're a tad heavier and very slippery with whatever Strike King soaks em in so you can pull em through cover easier than most creature baits with multiple appendages. Could be my imagination, but i think they're also a bit more durable.
  18. cool. are you using the silent ones? i've been wanting to experiment with them recently. what colors did you go with?
  19. set the hook on tight line as soon as you know the bass didn't miss
  20. nice job man way to wreck em. live sunfish?
