I was told that the trim should be adjusted to where the RPM reduces. It would seem to me that adjusting to where the RPM increased would be the sweet spot. What's your thoughts? How can you approach sinking from trim adjustments?

My brother inlaw told me when he was a kid in SC, him and his buddy snuck his dad's boat out one night. They had a lantern in the boat. A moccasin climbs into the boat, attracted by the light. They are fussing with it when a bunch more climb in, to where they dove into the water and swam like hell to shore without getting bit. He had another story where on the last day of school, a bunch of them headed to a creek to go swimming. Pulling off clothes and doing the "last one in" thing, this one kid is first to dive in. He starts yelling and comes running up the bank with mocs hanging off of him. Poor kid didn't make it.

How do you guys secure your kicked engine to the transom to keep some $hit bag from walking off with it.

I watched a boat ramp for a couple hours, last year, to pick up some tips. Wow, was that fun. It was like the cartoons before the feature movie. I highly recommend it.

The $149 & $200 casting rods offered. Are they good performing, or huckstering? KVD told me in person that he would not endorse crap. I believe him, but looking for others thoughts on their performance.

Has anyone used these rods? Are they worth the money?

I read, last year, of a trick to remove backlash from a bait caster. It was using the thumb nail somehow. Anybody know this trick?

I saw him at a show in Phila the weekend after winner at Lay Lake. He taught and hour class on spinner baits. Afterward, he took many questions. We were then told by the host that Kevin had to wrap it up, and he said, "I don't have anywhere to go". The guy signed everything shoved at him without hesitation before even taking the mic when most speakers are not approachable.

She sucks. Never did much in Indy cars. Always throwing a hissy fit about something/someone causing her problem. Real talent comes on fast....Logano, Bush, Stewart... A good day for her will never be more than mid pack. Next thing you know, NASCAR will be giving her a 2 lap head start

I watched Kevin Van Dam repeatedly roll cast in a classroom yesterday. It is VERY slick way to soft cast a bait a short distance. I think a way to learn this might be to hold the rod out to your right side. Then in one smooth movement, whip the tip back, down, and out to the front (a clockwise circle). Similar to pitching a softball. Now, when that is accomplished without hurting anybody, try reeling the bait back and with the rod tip lowered and with 2 ft of line still out, whip the tip back to the side and complete the motion described above. I think this is a roll cast.

BigEBass, I just went through the same hand-wringing as you with the lowr vs HB. I choose HB. I did not like what I heard about the Lowrance problems with product, plus the lack of service support. Spending $2k+ I want support, not delays and hot air. That indicates major internal problems. Any questions I had leading up to choosing the brand was answered promptly by HB. I also didn't read about any customer dissatisfaction with HB. Good luck

I was at a KVD seminar today, and was told BPS is moving 8,000 Red Eye Shads per day since last weekend. He told us how it was fished and the hook modifications that were made. He is a very nice guy.

How many tons of the Red Eye Shad bait do you think Cabelas and BPS are shoveling out the door after KVD's win?
