Loctite epoxy
I haven't used the flex coat but do use several of the locktite and devcon products... just be sure to read the labels as both makers have some the are water proof and some that are only water resistant.

Anyone try fishing rods made with Batson Blanks ?
I would think the opposite... you have a number of builders and customers singing the praises of these blanks... the only real question in this thread is if the RX8+ blanks are made by St. Croix.

Anyone try fishing rods made with Batson Blanks ?
I don't know what being offered at this very moment but I do know for a fact that RX8 and RX8+ are different blanks (and made on different continents). Are you guys are talking about the same blanks? back on topic, I've built and fished a number of rods on Batson blanks... all have exceeded my expectations.

1996 Mercury 150HP pee water ???
Like said above... hot to your hand and hot to a motor are very different. If it eases your mind at all, my 1994 merc 175 does as you describe... and has since the day I took it home, brand spanking new. At idle, the stream gets hot and fairly weak. When you are underway, it gets stronger. At full throttle if you look back, it's very strong. All the older mercs I have been around are similar in that regard.

Loomis MBR843C and MBR844C IMX ?
The 843 and 844 are extremely versatile rods... not to mention really sweet. They will feel different than the St. Croix rods you are used to but that's why I use both blanks. The Loomis blanks will feel delicate in the tip by comparison but still lock up as a MB should. I wouldn't hesitate to buy those, if I were buying factory rods.

Smokin' deals at Academy.
The all star classics fish more like a $100 rod.

Fort Hood
Glad to hear that! I guess they are accustomed to military backgrounds around here and since he is, that might explain some of it. Our local coverage is usually better... only guess that since he's military, they have access to all the same sources as they do for other military activity.

Fort Hood
It's pretty disgusting. I've tried to steer clear of the talk on this because I can't really remain civil about it. I have heard the life story of the coward about 20 times but have yet to just hear the names of the murdered read on the news. > There should be no details or publicity given to that animal. They should not be allowed to say his name. The only "good news" was a 60 second profile of the woman that took him down... she sustained 4 GSW's and kept fighting until the guy went down. What in incredible woman... a true hero that saved many lives. Why not use that as the big news story instead of showing all the would be idiots that you get famous by committing mass murder. Prayers for the families affected are awesome, please keep them coming. The Ft. Hood Soldiers and their families are a resilient bunch of people, in time they will bounce back from this but in the interim, a little comfort will be needed.

Circle Hooks For Wacky Rigging
John, I had success, but can't say any greater success... After my shoulder surgery I used circle hooks for wacky, c-rig and flukes. I was pushing the time frame my Dr. gave but figured with no hooksets I'd be ok. ...lol Anyway, the circle hooks worked pretty good... only problems I had were forgetting and setting the hook. One thing I did notice was that o-rings and hitchhikers made circle hooks and soft plastic get along very well.

Casting ability between reels.....brain teaser question
The correct answer is your brain's ability to interpret feedback and control your thumb.

Senko Rod Selection
I used a MBR844 IMX as a senko and fluke rod for a long time... worked perfect for me but I don't use any of the smaller size senkos or flukes. It's an amazingly versatile rod that you can use for lots of techniques.

Line Guide groving problem on Rod
That is an extreme case and normally not even a cheap guide would groove out so badly... chalk it up to defective guide. I'd just pretend that I knocked out an insert and spend $2 for an alconite replcement- problem solved.

Line Guide groving problem on Rod
Dang, I've seen a number of grooved tips but I've never seen one quite like that!

PayPal can kiss my
Credit card? Hmm... insulting, but probably a good thing for you actually. Use a debit card... no limits, you own it when you buy it and you answer to no one but yourself. A tiny bit of discipline will pay off in spades. The borrower is slave to the lender.... look that one up, it goes back well over a thousand years.

Beware of UPS when shipping rods....
Without question fedex is the best carrier to ship rods. This from my own experience as well as friends and family. No one is perfect but they break a fraction of what the others do. I think the shock is that the schedule 40 pvc is broken, not the rods... I do realize that you can break pvc with a truck or forklift but that's not something that happens typically happens when a person drops it accidentally. :-?

Chronarch 50MG
Depends on what I was going to use it for. I like the 50mg as an all around reel- but I also have replaced the spools to suit my needs. I'm not into a high speed as my all around yet so I only have a few uses for the CuE7

What's the deal with ceramics?
doesn't sound like you had a real apples to apples comparison. If you had cleaned out and properly lubed the stock bearings for the side by side comparison, I would guess that your experience would have been much less noticeable. But if there was a circumstance you should feel a difference it's pitching since the brakes are usually off or close to it.

Weather is changing- new rod builds....
I bet GL still knows how to roll em' and I bet he's using good materials... I think it would be the bigger surprise if these blanks aren't considered very good or better.

Re: Did I catch my Citation??
Nice fish no matter the weight! Buy some new batteries and let this be the lesson. But don't worry about the citation, that fish wasn't 8. Why not take the spring scale and hang a bucket on it and fill with water until it reads 5 or whatever you had with the fish... then just weigh the bucket of water with the digital and new battery. It will either confirm the spring scale or tell you very close to what the fish weighed.

moving to skid row- updated! (on pg. 3)
It's a local manufacturer I'll start out as the inside sales and support guy. Great environment, strong family owned company, very stable. I assume you were talking about the lake! 20-25 acres, lots of timber and cedar, fantastic structure... well defined creek and lots of undulation. My new boss took me out Sat. for a primer... We had a cold front come through so it was "tough fishing." ;D ;D ;D ;D I should have taken some pics of the width... they weren't real round but they were broad across the shoulders. Here are a few of them...
