  1. nice combos. You're only missing a CURADO 50E reel, and where's the STEEZ? ;D
  2. Gary Yamamoto senko in watermelon/black flake. I consider myself a finesse fisherman and this is the lure that when all else fails gets me bites.
  3. I have the C3-S-701ML rod that I use for drop shotting sometimes. I don't like this rod. I think it's too soft for dropshotting. I think it's my personal preference but I don't like this rod at all. I much prefer my own custom wrapped rod. The reel seat is also very big on this rod don't know why but that's another reason why I don't like the rod.
  4. I agree with the first two guys. Your lure broke because you didn't hand grab the fish and instead you tried to swing the fish into the boat and obviously your line would snap expecially 6# test. If you like to swing your fish into the boat then upsize your line. I'm a big fan of yo-zuri hybrid and will take it over many other types of lines anyday.

Try wacky rigging it with a 1/0 wacky hook. You can put a nail weight near the head of the ika so that it will fall body side down and the skirt will flare out. The other way I rig it is texas rig with a 3/0 EWG hook. The smaller hook actually gets me more fish instead of the larger 4/0
  6. great choice for bass. I like to go lighter than the norm. I fish with 2-4lb line depending on the situation. I use a 1000 size shimano sedona or stradic reel. It depends though, but I prefer to have fun fighting a bass on super light line.
  7. I have fished both the hydra and the ika and I don't know why but the bass prefer the ika over the hydra 90% of the time. I fish them exactly the same way and in the same places and the ika wins hands down.
  8. congrats on that hawg. I have yet to catch one like that. I've come close, but never caught one. It'll happen one day. Anyways congrats.
  9. The sol is excellent for throwing anything, but finesse baits are where it excels. If you have the money opt for the daiwa alphas reel. It's much smoother and can handle weights down to 1/16th oz easily.
  10. simply AMAZING. KVD all the way. Sorry Skeet Reese, but you got beaten by the best.
  11. invizx casts way better than abrazx and is more limp. Abrazx is stiffer and is supposedly for fishing in heavy cover or areas where abrasion is a big matter. But to me invizx is way better.
  12. it works pretty good. I like using it for my paddletail swimbaits and my ragetail baits especially the anaconda.
  13. the citica is reel nice. Check out the curado if you're looking to buy a shimano reel because on ebay you can get a new curado for $145 shipped which is an awesome deal.
  14. I know that already. I just need to know what specific drag I'm supposed to buy because there are different ones and I want the one that could fit into my scorpion reel.
  15. hey guys I'm looking to upgrade my drag on my shimano scorpion 1001mg reel. It's the japanese chronarch 50mg. Anyways which carbontex drag should I buy?
  16. send it to Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle. he does an excellent job and his turnaround time is really fast.
  17. That reel is a BEAST! I have taken that reel with me everywhere and it's still going good in both saltwater and freshwater. Trust me you're gonna LOVE this reel. I'm getting the new 50E when it gets out anyways for flipping and pitching purposes.
  18. getting skunked is part of the game. You see you gain experience each and every time you get skunked. But here's my take on this I agree that you have to slow down when working your lures, and as already mentioned don't let the bass see you. Here's my favorite technique for bass that you can see: wacky rig a senko. Cast it out about 5 feet ahead of the bass and keep shaking the senko as you slowly reel it in. Something about this drives bass crazy. Finally don't give up even when the bite is tough. I live in southern california and trust me our local lakes are highly pressured and sometimes you just gotta get skunked in order to become a better fisherman
  19. The price for the curado D reels are probably $100-120 depending on condition of the reel.
  20. I like the dobyns 733C for my lighter jigs to about 1/2oz and less. Anything over that then I use the 734 or the 735. Great rods, very balanced and sensitive.
  21. yea just give them a call. Richard Dobyns is a great guy as well as everyone that works there. I broke my dobyns champion 733C rod and I called Richard and he told me to go and pay the $60 to get a new replacement rod. Great service.
  22. the sedona is a great reel. I have a couple of these and use them for inshore fishing as well as bass fishing and they've held up quite nicely. Any shimano spinning reel from the sedona model up are nice. If you've got $200 check out the shimano stradic CI4, best spinning reel in that price range.
  23. hey guys check out pinnacle's new reels from tackletour. http://www.tackletour.com/previewpinnacleicastreels2010.html Looks pretty good.
