  1. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here but I must say. If Ike tryed to get his boat into a place with low water levels and he damaged the boat for being stupid, while getting it stuck all at the same time. He should not be giving another boat to fish from, he should have to suffer and deal with it. On the other hand, if your screaming down the lake and the big motor breaks down, THEN B.A.S.S. would supply him with a new boat to use, or if his trolling motor break down. But that only happens on the final day, when they use the sponsored rigs. If Ike got his boat stuck and damaged it in the process, and they gave him a new boat for it, I would be ticked off if I was competing against him because you shouldn't be rewarded with a new boat. Most boat sponsors show up with numerous spare boats just incase something happens to one of their sponsored boats. Its not just an Ike thing, if it was KVD, Nitro would have another boat ready to go, no matter what the reason was. Thats just sponsors taking care of business. Matt
  2. Anyone care to put that article into English or simplify it? LOL Tough to follow with the high dollar words in there. Matt
  3. Why would fishing docks be moved to boating? LBH, are you taking meds again? By the way, how are your migrains doing these days? Matt When you say marinas, I think of depth, most marinas are in deeper water. Early mornings and darkness, I do like throwing a spinner in and around them. When the sun gets up, I like to throw slow sinking baits, whether they are trick worms rigged wacky or a weightless senko. Sometimes a splitshot works well. Tubes, creature baits and even letting a jig swim back as it falls works well. Mornings that don't have boat traffic early can make for some good top water bites also, but that is predicated on seasonal patterns. Matt
  4. Maybe now that ESPN has taken the "fishin hole" off, it will show up on some of the other channels so the same can start complaining about those channels and what they air a boring show. I'm glad its gone, but until the season kicks off, its pretty dry TV for the most part. Got love Cindy and her sister!!!! Matt
  5. Benny had a voice you could recognize. He will be missed in the Nascar Nation. Prayers to family and friends. Matt.
  6. That can't be predicted just yet, you don't know of the weather changes that can shut down a spawn for weeks. Last years spawn on Fork as witnessed by Russ and others during the later half of March was on hold due to a two week long storm. Rains and Cold Fronts shut everything down. Mother Nature holds the keys!! Matt
  7. I have been using a two-piece adjustable telescoping fiber glass pole since 94. It collaspes down to 7' and stays in the rod locker year around. It provides two things, stealth and allows you to move with out stirring or agitating the water were beds can be ruined. Matt.
  8. What state allows you to take 50 bass in a day? Matt.
  9. Michael Iaconelli Steve Kennedy Kevin VanDam Aaron MartensD Dean Rojas Kevin Wirth Skeet Reese Edwin Evers Tommy Biffle Kelly Jordon Greg Hackney Jason Quinn Gerald Swindle Denny Brauer Russ Lane Alton Jones John Murray Jared Lintner Peter Thliveros John Crews Matt Reed Mike McClelland Todd Faircloth Randy Howell Mike Wurm Bill Lowen Jeff Reynolds Lee Bailey Mark Tucker Timmy Horton Terry Scroggins Zell Rowland Jeff Kriet Rick Clunn Takahiro Omori Gary Klein Ishama Monroe James Niggemeyer (Southern Tour) Tom Hamlin (Southern Tour) Boyd Duckett (Southern Tour) Heres 40 that have qualified. Awaiting the 3 northern qualifiers, the top six federation anglers and the Outdoor Series Champion to be determined later in jan 07 = 50 anglers. James Niggemeyer is a local angler from Texas, great stick. I'll be rooting for my fellow Texans. Kelly Jordan and Tak would be wise choices. Tak is deadly during pre spawn with the lipless baits, and KJ is deadly with the jig. Matt
  10. I'll be rooting for the New Orleans Saints. I'll take a first timer over any of the other teams. What a story book ending if NO wins it all. Matt

  12. I wanted to add some other factors as well. They say the fish are more pressured in southern Cali, but, most San Diego lakes are fish from sun up till sun down, thus no night fishing ever!!!!!! Some lakes that produce those hawgs are only open to skiing only on certain days. Can you imagine having a lake that is only open to fishing 3-4 days a week, then skiing only for 3-4 days? No trot lines, means no live bait, means no loss of bass due to being caught on trotlines like other states. NO lake houses, or in another words, no lake property owners on the lower So Cal lakes, which means that fishing is still limited to day light hours only!!!!! Just think if night fishing was legal, how much pressure those So cal lakes would get. matt
  13. Cali fishermen have just has many fish being eaten as any were else. 14 years of watching Asain fishermen keep everything, and I mean anything and every thing. You must first have the ingridients to grow such bass for them to be caught. We have beaten this horse to death many times. You have the longiest growing season in the US. You have deep waters that offer warmer temps that don't stop bass from growing in the southern Cali lakes and resorvoirs during Winter. I don't care, you add northern temps to the mix, and you are no different than the rest of the US. Why is Tx, Fla, Mexico and Cuba always listed as possible WR locations, its has some of the longer growing seasons.. Why has Northern Cali not weighed in a 20lber? They have plenty of trout!!!!! Maybe the weather up north doesn't allow them to grow 365 days a year as the milder climate does down south. Matt
  14. The facts sure don't support the fishing industries profit margins. You would think that declining numbers would also effect retail businesses associated with fishing also, yet the profits don't match the declines. Something sure smells fishy!!!!!!! I could understand some declines since 2001 with the hurricanes, 911, and ongoing war, gas prices and such, but that effects regions mainly. That survey is only good to 2001, what about the last 6 years? Matt
  15. jig, Wished I wasn't moving west, I would love to do some fishing with you. I do have info for ya, Pm sent. Welcome to the forum. Matt
  16. Ronnie, Its a small world. My dad was a coach/Principal at Miles Texas outside of San Angelo, so it isn't like I've never fihed the Concho or Colorado river. Staying in the DFW area depends on me wanting to drive into the city and drive 50-75 miles round trip, and after retiring from the Navy and 15 years of that being in San Diego, I sure don't like the traffic. Muddy and others, I appreciate the kind offers. I may be moving, but I'm not leaving the "fishing family". Thanks Matt
  17. http://www.terrelltribune.com/articles/2007/01/09/news/news01.txt What does this mean for me? Well, as of now, the intent of the hospital is to be closed March 9th, could be sooner if people bail out and vendors don't ship supplies. There are no quick fixes, and I'm blessed as to have already located a job in San Angelo Tx, the very same hospital my first Grandson was born in on July 11, 2006. My daughter and family has since located to Terrell, she is to start college here in a few days. At this point and time, I may not be in the area for the 2nd annual Fork trip. I will do every thing in my power to get that time off, but as of now, the new job and moving some 250 miles west may prevent this from happeining. My Thursday Brisket may be on hold at this time until I get some details worked out. 250 miles in the wrong direction, the further west you go in TEXAS, the less it rains and the less waters to fish. I will be closer to OH Ivey and Amistad, but won't be in my backyard like Fork is. Matt
  18. Dirk, Glad you could make the universe balanced again with your surprising apperance. Now days, popcorn seems to be the ticket. Don't be such a stranger!!! Matt
  19. This is the 21st year of the program, and the record was caught in 1982. The SAL program has averaged over 21 bass in the teens during the 4 month program ever year. Thats not too shabby for 1/3 of the year. Matt.
  20. Did I miss anything?
  21. 17.67 from Mark Stevenson caught on Lake ForK in November back in the 80's, 1986 ???? Matt
  22. There is no way the two can be compared fairly. They each have different goals. The two types of angling mentioned requires a different approach and mindset. Its like comparing US sprinters to Kenyan distance runners, each trains differently because the race is different. Obviously, Americans dominate sprints and Kenyans dominate distance running, How would you say who is better? Comparing records only shows that each country dominates their choice. Does it really matter? Matt.
  23. I give Florida their props, I think after USC left the door open for Florida, they were the most deserving to go as a one loss team. I gave them very little respect and they have earned it for one year. I would love to see the AP Champs be Boise State, 13-0, something to shake up the BCS. SEC RULES THIS YEAR!!! CONGRATS TO THE GATOR FANS AND SEC NATION. hookem Matt
  24. The 426th Share lunker was caught from a small lake, Lake Nacogdoches, a 2,200 acre lake that has been stocked with Floridas the first time in 1977, 1999, 2000, and 2002. Its the third sharelunker from this lake, and the first since 1999. Was caught 1/5/07 She weighed 13.31 lbs lenght was 27 inches girth was 20 inches Was caught on 1 oz jig in 20 ft moon phase was F+2
