  1. I take it you don't throw top waters then?
  2. My north TX lakes, most shad are around the 27ft mark. Winter in North East Tex, the best temp indicator for warmest water will be at the depth the shad are at. Shad are fragile, the later fry spawned in july august are the ones the cold temps kill off first. Shad will start to die once temps plummet past 50 degrees. Find shad, you find the warmest water in the lake most likely, and for cold blooded species, an half degree can mean eating or not. In Jan, you find shad in the back of a creek, most likely, theirs runoff from something and that water coming in is warmer than current conditions. If those shad stayed in that creek for a long period, the bass will migrate back there with them cause of bait and warmer water. Find the bait, find the depth, so simple.
  3. My family/kin folks was a fishing pack. Unfortunately, my parents, all grand parents, 12 uncles and others have passed. I have 2 brothers that would not leave a river system to touch a lake, much less go bassin. Its felt like a lone wolf for years.
  4. Alls I know is that bait ties into every equation except when they spawn during most times of the year. Learn to stay on top of your bait on your favorite lake and every fish you seek, you'll find. Don't matter, striper, hybrid, bass, catfish all follow the shad at times, and at certain times, they let the shad move to them. Just depends on the time of the year on how much each species moves. I tie the depth of the bait to the contour breaks and structure in the area. Other than Spawn times, tell me when KVD, one of the top 5 all time anglers of all time appoaches a body of water that doesn't start by looking for bait in the area to find a concentration of bass. Lake Fork is full of structure, and it don't all produce at once, something makes an area better than others, what could that be?
  5. Sam, I don't fall into any of those catergories. No tidal waters or rivers generators pulling current. I worked m-f, how is it fair for guys who have retired or own their own businesses to pre fish 5 days straight or even guides on that lake and is out during the week when others can't due to work, is that fair to the guys who can't be on the water 5 days prior. You said your self, the bite changes all the time, so being their to pattern their movements IS BIG ADVANTAGE over those that can't prefish all week due to being a real weekend warrior. That 5 day rule evens the playing field for most.
  6. When your 10 yards ahead of the defender on your 10 yd line and gonna score, turning around and looking back and pointing the ball at the defender is not part of the game, never was. Thats bad sportsmanship, take the 6 off the board and you'll cure this display of bad sportsmanship, simple, not a dead ball foul, thus mark off 15 yards from the spot of the foul. I'd add in there, if the game was a blow out and you do that cause you know 15 yards and taking the TD off the board isn't gonna hurt, if you suspended them for the next game, i'm sure that would cure that problem too. The dead ball side of this, two teams battle to keep each out of the endzone, when a team scores, and breaks a tight game late in the 4th qrtr, I think they earned the right to celebrate as a team. Which takes it back to a refs judgement, and sometimes that isn't the best either.
  7. +1 on doing the double take of the KVD imposter. The real test is could you fool Zona? Same thing was said last year with small bags expected at Shreeveport due to cold temps, dirty water, and Skeet and Ike stepped up their games along with others to make that a very good classic. I was surprised last year, so I'll wait and see. Also, some tournaments went on in Texas even after we had record amounts of snow, guess what, Lake Tyler was producing 29 lb bags, top four bags totaled 103 lbs, so fish were biting in this brutal cold spell we had in NE Texas. Time is near, we'll see.
  8. For the weekend angler, the guys who have regular jobs during the week and can't be on the water all week, off limits keeps the playing field level in my opinion. That rule also keeps a guide who makes his living on said body of water from jackpotting. Again, weekend trails are were designed for the working angler. Most our local weekend warrior trails, are off limits M-F for all
  9. Bob Sealy's crew will do boat inspections if you cash a check and possible polygraph. Make sure your KIll Switch works and attatch it before starting the boat, that means when you pull it, it dies ASAP. No beer cans in the boat at all. Have your life jackets, registration, fire exstinguisher, and any other state regs that are required and your fishing license. Don't forget to take the kids, Bob has one of the best family run tournaments in the industry. Kids div is for crappie, bass, catfish, and perch for both days till noon as well. Its already grown to $155,000.oo in cash and prizes. Our 3 in Texas pay nothing less than 400,000.oo with the winner walking with at least $100K payout to the winner. Good Luck!

Eury Sr wasn't active in Jr's career after he left DEI. Eury Sr has now left DEI and is back in the Earnhardt pits with Jr Motor Sports. I don't think that is a bad thing for Jr in any capacity. When has Jr ever drove like his Daddy. That last pit stop, Jr took 4 tires, was about 16-17th, next restart, 14th, last restart, 10th. Man was on a mission like his Daddy! Never seen Jr hang in the middle like his Daddy would do.

The track issue wouldn't have been and issue if there hadn't of been so much rain. Same issue on 2nd race last season in Cali, so they used a concrete saw to place Perpendicular cuts in the asphalt so the water could drain down to the bottom of the shoulder. No traction in corners with wet spots. Congrats to the BPS car and Jamie McMurray. COT's made past racing boring, yesterday was like days of old. Made for good day of racing. As for lead changes, plenty of them, Jr looked like his Dadddy on those last two laps. A man on a mission, looks like Eury Sr has Dale on the right path to start the season.
  12. TLC channel, enough said most of the time. LOL
  13. Most certainly was, the whole year for this team he was the leader and MVP. I can assure you, he could care less about the MVP. Winning that Lombardi just made Brees an elected La official if he so decides politics is in his future.
  14. Rigged? Like rigged by the NFL????? LOL Can someone be bought to help throw a game? Maybe, maybe someone who is in trouble with bookies that don't won't the world to find out he is a "Pete Rose" figure. Think about that. What positions make the most money and would not be approachable due to not needing the money, yet is in a position to directly effect the outcome of a game. I can assure you, Peyton Manning wanted the 2nd ring more than he wanted that INT. And he has more money than a bookie could offer him to TARNISH his family name. Too funny!!! Anytime human judgement helps decide the outcome of contests, there will always be second guessing. To err is human! Its a fact of life whether in sports or ever day life.
  15. Texas has done rather well on the defensive side of the ball. I'm still waiting for Texas offense to get a big back that can tote the rock. We got some speedsters, but they haven't done squat thus far and our run game is lacking the past few years. Hookem
  16. In 2008, I ventured away from Texas to fish a tournament in that region. First timer up in Ark/MO. I knew the water temp was in the upper 40's, water in that part of the country in most lakes was gonna be clear. I monitored rain and temps. Any rain meant runoff in backs of the creeks, runoff meant warmer water, warmer water means shad or bait will find it, and bass will follow. Runoff means stain. Normally, gin waters dicatates 4-6lb test, stain means I can step up line size and baits. Just having that game plan before leaving Texas made my searches fast. We found runoff, we found stained water, we found bait, and we found a top ten finish in a two day event. March and April mean fronts and storms. Water temp is one of the most critical factors in finding active fish.
  17. The vast majority of parents don't use the everyday tools that are there to teach with when a child is of learning age. Its started at home.
  18. I believe this was the 4th championship game to go into OT. Winner of the flip lost the other 3 times. Coaches are aware of the statistics or should be when it comes to coin flips. Don't like overtimes? Change the rules of the game to ensure less OT's. Like scoring multiple TD's in a Qtr, you can kick one PAT, but on the other TD's in the same QTR, you must go for 2. PAT's are high percentage, but 2pt conversions aren't.
  19. Been playing on PS for about 8 years. I don't play with the funny money, or free. Like to play for keeps.

    Thats jaw dropping technology!!!
  21. April is as good of month for the spawn as any. Just depends on the late season fronts passing as to good weather or bad weather. Hope your wife gets that hawg!
  22. Saw this elsewhere and decided to share it with ya'll. Story about Ole and Sven, Ole and Sven die in a snowmobiling accident, drunker than skunks, and go to HE77. The Debil observes that they are really enjoying themselves. He says to them 'Doesn't the heat and smoke bother you? Ole replies, 'Vell, ya know, ve're from nordern Minnesooota, da land of snow an ice, an ve're yust happy fer a chance ta varm up a little bit, ya know.' The debil decides that these two aren't miserable enough and turns up the heat even more. When he returns to the room of the two guys from Minnesota , the debil finds them in light jackets and hats, grilling Walleye and drinking beer. The debil is astonished and exclaims, 'Everyone down here is in abject misery, and you two seem to be enjoying yourselves?' Sven replies, 'Vell, ya know, ve don't git too much varm veather up dere at da Falls, so ve've yust got ta haff a fish fry vhen da veather's dis nice.' The debil is absolutely furious. He can hardly see straight. Finally, he comes up with the answer. The two guys love the heat because they have been cold all their lives. The debil decides to turn all the heat off in HE77. The next morning, the temperature is 60 below zero, icicles are hanging everywhere, and people are shivering so bad that they are unable to wail, moan or gnash their teeth. The debil smiles and heads for the room with Ole and Sven. He gets there and finds them back in their parkas, bomber hats, and mittens. They are jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming like mad men. The debil is dumbfounded, 'I don't understand, when I turn up the heat you're happy. Now its freezing cold and you're still happy. What is wrong with you two?' They both look at the debil in surprise and say, 'Vell, don't ya know, if He77 iss froze over, dat must mean da Vikings von da Super Bowl',
