After 12+ years of browsing forums...
This is a forum that most seek to relieve alittle stress from work and family or for whatever floats their boat. I didn't come here to earn a degree in English or to hear grammar cops belittle someone for it. It only takes me a couple of times, I skip over those replies that are hard to read, but 99% of the time, I'm smart enough to figure out what the guys is trying to get across. I'll post it correctly without even mentioning it to anyone, if you catch the corrected errors, so be it, if not, its no skin off my nose. Every time I see a post like this, someone is getting belittled over this petty crap. Want to proof read peoples work, try being a teacher and showing you really care, otherwise, why police forums? a simple pm to that person is all that is needed to bring it to their attention not in wide open for all to read. I said this many moons ago, if you seek future employment in the industries and seek sponsors , then by all means, you need to be proper to sell yourself at all times. jmo

"Gambler" Tournaments
too funny, didn't the pros just hit Delta? Seems to me, with all those tournaments and pressure, its a wonder the pros ever got a limit. 60 boats. LOL is that supposed to mean an over pressured fishery, 60 boats? or was that meant as an icebreaker, a joke? ;D LOL

Is the swimbait replacing the jig on the BASS tour?
I can see anglers who have 4-5 good tournament keepers needing that one good kicker. Now, back in the days, most of the old pros would have reached for a big jig looking to pull that one kicker to super size his catch. I could see if the conditions are right, a guy opting for swimbait over the jig, again, that just depends on what lake and what species.

The Detroit Lions....
Lions need to much talent to make a 180 in one year. Tough call, you need to protect all that guaranteed money you just paid Stafford, but guys like Suh don't come along very often.

Please Help Me Understand Crappie Fishing
Prespawn in early March on lake Waco, we were on the crappie late in the evening with ultra lites. Normal crappie bite with bobbers and minnow and some jigs on other rods, lifting up and bam, 5lber just inhaled a nice crappie that was was on it. Good fight for my buddy with his 4lb test. Big bass love to hang with the crappie, easy meals. Lots of fresh water fish taste good when cleaned and preped properly. I just prefer fish that fillet easy and are easy to come by most times.

Is the swimbait replacing the jig on the BASS tour?
KVD won the classic throwing hard rattle baits, and the top finishers were duplicating the same pattern. Don't think the swimbait was major factor there. The Delta wasn't won with swimbaits. Most of those fish came pitching into the vegitation. The all time BASS weight record set on Falcon wasn't set with one swimbait fish. The swimbait is just another tool in the tackle box, and when the conditions sets up as Catt mentioned, you'll see them do well.

Teaching to feel the bite
Nothing better to teach what a bite is than tight lining on bottom with bait, live worms, shrimp, what ever you need for that species. I learned to tell how carp can suck a bait for awhile, just gently, a light pull, which is them sucking on it, then running. There is no moving the bait, no rocks to bump, twigs, just bites for real. Minnow under the boat for crappie, worm on a hooker for perch. Cut shad for channels and blues. Nothing better to teach the bite than getting bit. Experience is the best teacher. Best advice, "fish do not have hands" drop that rod tip, take up slack and rips some lips if ya feel them. Hook sets are free. Fish do not have hands,

Mayweather/Mosley
What outcome would help promote Pacman vs Money? I'm for that one. Then Money can get knocked out.

My new home, I meant tent, has the AC port or doggie/pet door, a 5000 115 vac fits great in the summer, it will freeze you out in 100 degree day. Another note, when travelling, always check out gas prices. Know what areas you be going through have cheaper prices. Filling up at the lake may cost you 10-15 cents or more per gallon, but also going great distances with two full saddle tanks on the boat will add more wear to trailer tires and weight for the tow vehicle to tow. Best to travel with tanks empy and fill up down the road at the cheapest spot available. Also, some motors still have to watch for that corn ethanol. So ask what grades are available along the way or if you will need diesel. Boat oils will be cheaper away from the lake too, so have enough for the trip.

First off, ice is costly if you have alot of stuff on ice. Block ice is the way to go, it last longer. The key to keeping ice longer, keep your ice chest insulated from the hot ground and direct sun light, and don't open it all day long, each time its opened, it used that much more energy to cool it back down. I often take one or two with just block ice to add as needed to the other. My first 5 day trip to Fork was in the summer. I spent over 100.oo on ice, I also had some guys who's go to the cooler every five minutes. After that, I bought a new mini fridge and take it when i'll will be gone a week or more and have electric in camp, it paid for itself real fast. I freeze 2 liter bottles and 20 ozers. Once they thaw some, you have cold drinking water, tea or coffee or just cooking water, plus, easy to grab and put on the boat for drinking water. In warmer temps, I will leave a can of Denty Moore stew in the open to sit in the sun all day, it will be warm enough to eat when you return, whether its hot dog chili or ravioli's, it saves gas from cooking. I take extra deep cycle batteries to begin with, so a clip on flourescent lamp will last forever and save on some type of fuel for lanterns. I will normally cook on an open fire, whether in my grill or fire ring, baked potatoes wrapped in foil are easy, so is a good buttered oninion wrapped as well. Love to camp.

Aaron Martens spraying water
For those that don't know it, many an old trotliners used bar soap cut up for trotline bait. It works still to this day. Old trotliners make their own soap baits, just don't see or hear about it with all the other commercial baits available.

I believe Kelley Jordan was the first years ago to display this. Thats not saying he discovered it. KJ carries a super soaker that many thought he used to play with other guides on Fork. With that said, I have never remembered seeing alot of pollen on Fork. Ya know, keeping other guides at a distance as a joke. Would love to have one of our travelling mods ask this question to KJ and other pros when the opportunity arises during an interview.

Jack, last year during the million dollar splash at Cassell, they were building the new ramps and pavillion. Could you get a picture if possible and post the new facilities. I witnessed them pushing the ramps into the water, a new technique they used to place each ramp in the water.

Looks like Choke is gettting Help.
Massive rains hit above Choke Canyon, she's up 2 ft from 0430 hrs to 0630 hrs this morning. Chokes water was dropping fast, what drillia she had was fixing to die, with this rain, it will save the grass and depending how long she can hold the level, it will greatly improve the conditions. More on the way, Frio, Comal rivers and other banks are swelled up and flowing. Grass and bass are like salt and pepper, they belong in the same sentence. Thank mother Nature for this, not the fishermen, they had nothing to do with the influx of water Choke is getting.

The two 9's still leading after 5 hrs of weighin's, 4 and 5 lb even fish still hasn't been hit yet, so theres 10 grand still to be won today. If they aren't hit, Sunday's finale, he's draws anglers names out and gives the cash away that wasn't won during the hourlys. Can you say guaranteed $580,000.oo cash and prizes to amateurs only. Every other year, he gives boats or cash for the 3 evens every day. This year, its cash. First hour, normally sees a small fish win some money and 4.91 did hit 12th the first hour. Since then, 48 other spots have been paid, and 5.43 is the smallest to win a place in an hour, again, I will say this, I have seen Sam Rayburn spitting out 7 and 8's, if you didn't have a 7 or close to it, you didn't cash a check.

Its dish soap in a spray bottle. If you haven't ever noticed, some pros have super soakers in the boat during spawn, or spary bottles. Pollins get matted on the water, by spraying the surface, it clears the pollen, allowing you to see into the water so you can see the bed clearly.
