College Football - Who ya got?
The Song fits Nick well. If I was home team, i'd play that on the jumbo tron every chance I could, pregame specially. I saw it with my own two eyes............ Its all been a pack of lies, I know where you've been. Is LSU travelling or are they at home? Hookem Matt

College Football - Who ya got?
Where do you think the Wed. goose bumps came from. It sure isn't thinking about you. College Football, the puriest version played. Yes, I liked the video. I can't say that Nick did LSU wrong, but what happened between Miami and Alabama was wrong. Would I trust a man like that in my company. NOPE, he displayed very poor ethics. This one is for first place of the SEC West. Whats up with Doucet? He still hurt? Matt

First time poster in smallieville!!!!!!RW????
RW, no disrespect to the other smallie fishermen, I don't really know the other die hard smallie guys. RW, Since the question was asked about lunkers and such. I was wondering about TX smallies. We have a few lakes that have been dominant waters for smallies. What would you say is a trophy smallie for Texas waters? I have pasted the Texas top 50. I first said anything over 6lbs, but after looking up the top 50, for Texas, a trophy smallie may be 5 lbs, what do you think? http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/programs/fishrecords/freshwater/top50_smallmouth.phtml First time into the smallie world. Never been on this side of the river before!!!! Matt

Lunker Bass
The Texas standard for LM lunkers is Double Digits, 10lbs. 7,8,9's are sure some toads, but a trophy standard of TX is the 10 pound barrier. State record is 18.18 lbs. Texas has a couple of lakes that used to kick out a bunch of smallies, and I would assume that anything above 6 pounds is trophy smallie in Texas. We have 7.93 lb record. After looking at the top 50 smallies in Texas, I would consider a 5 pounder a heck of a fish. Hookem Matt

What Category Are You In?
I have my favorite lake, favorite spots on said lake, but do love to go to a new lake. All the above!!! As I looked at RW's point, I just remembered, that most of my younger days as a kid was on the river. I love camping on a river also. I like some tight lines on bottom for supper and my bassing in the day light. Matt

You guys from Texas
A fishing license cost 42.00 dollars on the Mexican side and 45.00 for boat permit. If you buy them on the American side, they are 52.00 and 55.00, Americans want to make something also. Matt

Bass handling
This is what I noticed, You mentioned yourself on later response, that you have dropped some bass a few times. You even try not to drop them in the dirt while bank fishing. So its no just tournament anglers who mis handles the bass. Be nice on how you describe a tournament angler "yanking" a fish out. Most anglers land the fish the same, pleasure and tournament. Although rubber nets are better for bass, they still take some of the slime coat off in rubber nets, they are not 100% fool proof either. Try lipping all your bass, no nets, no decks to lay them on. When you do this, maybe you'll have the right to come back and run the tournament fishermen down. Until then, quit pointing a finger at us and watch your own fish handling methods. You don't seem to do any better, yet you point the finger!!!! Thats how I see it!!!! Matt

Catch and release, being overdone??????
There are too many species out there that are easier to catch and better to eat. LM bass are good to eat, I have had my share growing up. Who or what to believe??? That is good question. We just had 3000 anglers fish Fork for 3 day tourney. 1000's of fish caught and weighed daily for 9 hours. With the 10% of all caught fish that are released will die theory, I should be seeing some dead bass on the water between last week end and the next few. Normally, I don't see the death as some like to say. I also know its not in the dead of the summer when mortality rates are higher, I don't see it then either. IS 10% the truth? Who knows, I just don't see the mortality after tourneys have come and gone. Also, I see enough TX forums to know its not being reported by others. Maybe Lane and some other notables in the industry would give an opinion on dead bass. Would they be visisble, are they gonna float, or die on bottom? One must access the fishery he or she is fishing. I also think the guys who represent the state of TX have good handle on the situation. Do you have confidence in what your state does for you? They are the experts, if my state was in trouble, they would change the creel limits if needed. I think if you post your catch on here, great!!! If you post that you ate your catch, your only gonna catch some grief to go with the hush puppies!!!!!! I think its best to report the catch and leave the eating out of the equation, if you don't, you opened your self up for unwanted comments. With todays society as a whole, The man up comments where stupid. NO WAY I TELL others to approach anyone and explain THE LAWS. A good rule to live by. IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR NOSE BROKE, DON'T STICK IT IN SOME ONE ELSES BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!! Call the Game Warden, thats what we pay them for. This illegal immigrant as some described them may feel the need to stab your butt. Just how did you fix the problem after you got stabbed? Call the law, its the responsible thing to do. Matt

Two over ten pounds after a change.
Randall, We have the same symptoms on lakes that are down also. I'm sure you've heard about Choke Canyon, Amistad, and Falcon down in South Texas. Past years, those lakes have been down 20-50 ft at times, those bass that are currently being caught have been there the whole time, just not hitting anyones baits to be caught. Then, the rains and floods over night and then the high 20-40 lb one day tourney stringers started appearing. I just think those bass go into survival mode. Big fish are hard to find when the lakes are real low. The old saying, "The fishing is easier in skinny water is false statement in my book". Matt

Torre and NYYankees Split
Baseball is part team sport and part individual. It don't take a team to swing the bat, its doesn't take a team to deliver a pitch! Does a golf coach get blamed for Pro playing bad? Does a tennis coach get blamed for a tennis player playing badly? How can Torre be blamed for a proven picther not pitching? Did Torres sign The Rocket, is it Torre's fault that all his older pitchers have nagging little injuries? Instead of insulting the guy with a lesser offer, and he earned his money with 12 straight years of post season play, how many other managers can show that during this era, they should have just not offered anything, and not renewed his contract. By the way, if some of these guys make 30 million a year, even 10 mil, and NY has the meaniest news media, most ego's on a team, and the biggest point of all, his success, 4 series titles, don't he deserve to be paid, not too mention his play as a player for the Yanks also should be rewarded as it was, now to downsize the contract. The man earned that 7.5 mil over and over!!!!!! They want a change then make it, don't insult him with a lesser offer. Also, how can you blame Torre for a guy who don't swing the bat in post season? Who gets credit for the Yanks coming from so many games back to make the playoffs? According to the record book, NY does have ownership of championship. History shows this to be true statement, after all, ownership is .9tenths of the law and they certainly have won it more than any others. Players still had to perform, it wasn't just given to them. Seems to me, guys like Mr. October helped earn them. Torre is a proven successful manager. Whats the difference in a manager and a coach? Matt

Torre and NYYankees Split
12 years as manager, 12 years in the playoffs. 6 World Series appearances, 4 Championships. Winningest Post season Coach ever. The offer was insult. The only thing money hasn't done for them in recent years was develope some young pitchers. I think they wanted Guidry out as pitching coach, and Torre wasn't having nothing to do with that. Matt

Two questions about Record sized bass.
I do know for a fact that the bass that was caught when I was stationed in Califorina was autopsied. That may have been because an Xray showed a diving weight that was found in the bass. That fish came from Miramar and was caught by a lady that had 2 lb diving weight in the fish that was declared to have been there for sometime due to the growth that was on the weight. The Texas state record that was caught while crappie fishig, was not killed, she was on display for a long time before dieing of natural causes. I hope Texas could certify the fish with out harming her. Who ever catches the WR, and from where ever, I hope they let her live for all to view. That record has been like searching for the "Holy Grail". Matt

Whats a better day on the Water???? POLL
Laid-back...Okay, I'll buy that... Maybe that's why Catt has been able to AVERAGE 27 lb tournament sacks for the last THIRTY YEARS! :o Anyone else on this Forum want to make a similar claim? Me don't think so... 8-) If you aren't catching some of those sacks on T Bend, you aren't cashing a check very often. It takes some 20+ lbs to make some money most of the time. I know he probably didn't put me in his best waters in June, but he did put me where I cashed a check for 900.00 during the 3 days. And to that, I say thanks, buddy!!!! Matt

Fact From Fiction II Last post
You guys can conduct a simple test of your own. Fist off, it has been said that a bass has a nose better than a dog. I can spray bang, garlic scented on my bait and make a long cast. Yes I do see a slick on the water, and when I have completed that cast, I can still smell garlic on my bait. Many casts, and I feel the slickness and still has the smell. So it appears to work from a humans view. So it don't all wash off and if I can smell it. Can the bass detect it also? Matt

Never fished before, and heading to Caddo Lake
Welcome to the forum. You picked a good time to go to Caddo. Cool, bugs on the decline, and the fish are moving into the river. I have stayed at the state park by Uncertain Tx. From that ramp, just head up river to the bridge. You can see the bridge from the ramp, 1/4 mile. You should have muttiple species schooling there. Whites, crappie and bass will be schooled up on the shad that are eating algea from the bridge pilings. Shad colored cranks, Bomber root beer and chrome traps, and crappie jigs. Pink with blue tail mini tubes was good for crappie, I recommend asking the bait shops on jig colors currently working. Bait shops are around the lake. If you have GPS, please mark your way points. Caddo is the only lake that I know of that has road signs up on trees to keep you from getting lost. Good luck, Hoping to make that trip in November again. Hookem Matt

Whats a better day on the Water???? POLL
Not true, you are only looking at stringer tournaments. We have lots of Big Bass Splashs where an easy half million in cash and prizes are given away. Totally for amatuers only, no guides can fish on that lake if they have guided for pay within 90 days, no pros that have fished with and entry over 450.oo in calendar year. One fish can win you, an amatuer, 120,000.oo in cash and prizes. 2 years ago, remember the 11 year old that was the youngest to win over a 100,000.oo? 2009, on Sam Rayburn in April for 3 days, 25th aniv. Bob Sealy is uping the payout to a cool 1 million dollars, $250,000.00 going to first place, the Sportsman package has normally been, New Hummer H2, New Triton Bass boat, New travel trailer, and a Bad Boy Buggy. I'd love to see some of you guys come down for that one with me. So one fish can win you lots of money. Matt

Coach Fran is gone!!!
Fisher, Norm of the Ticket, 1310 sports Radio Dallas, reported that he would finish the year out and his contract will be bought out. Some of the normal Aggie football forums have locked these threads up as the report spread early yesterday morning. Other Aggie fans say as soon as one is started, its locked down, who knows, I did her more about the two coaches, Callaghan and Franchione, on ESPN 103.3 last night reporting the same things as we heard earlier. The big outcry from fans and Alumns, are what did these coachs do to deserve the extensions and more money. try www,theticket.com Matt
