  1. One foot is = to 1.00 in decimal. So .25 is the same as 3 inches and so on. .5 or .50 is the same as 6 inches. Hope that helps. Matt
  2. More than once!!!!! Matt
  3. Statewide in Texas today, Sonic is giving free Rootbeer floats from 8pm to 12am. No purchase required. Is that just Texas or other states also. Matt
  4. Levels are normally based on Sea Level. The lake is currently +0.15 above pool. Matt
  5. Tommy, Will Larry and his wife be around during that time? How far to trailer from six mile to the Indian Mounds launch ramp? Hope to see you there. Does K&K have any amenities in the rooms, small refrig? Hell, for 28.50, you can't beat that. And I'm thinking of trying to book one today. Matt
  6. Catt, I would love to find a good campsite with electrical hookups and shade in the Six Mile area or surrounding waters. Never fished in the southern part of the lake. Matt
  7. I would admit it before ever being in that spot. If you do place for money, and are not polygraphed during this tourney, the next time you are faced with the "TEST" and the question is asked, have you ever violated any rules in a tournament, the answer would have to be yes, and thats what makes you look "Dishonest"!!!!! Honest mistakes are just that, mistakes, Hiding fish is cheating. You should always fish like you are in a tourney, its called practice, practice, practice. Bad habits are formed by casually fishing every day. Like never wearing your life vest while pre-fishing, then forgeting to button up on tourney day is not anybodies fault but your own, and should not be overlooked, because most of the other guys followed the rules. Club tourneys should have talked about this up front as to what the ruling should be. Less money on the line and fellowships are meant to be just that, a relaxing outlet from the big money tourneys. 8. Hop, Blue bird days with calm water makes the fish leary. Most of the time, fish are holding very tight to the cover. With the summer and heat pushing water temps up, I like deep water, thick vegitation, and anything that offers them shade mid-morning on. What this means to me is: I have to get my baits in tight to the cover where the fish are. Most of the time, a bass will not move to far out of concealment to persue a bait. Hookem Matt
  9. I met Larry and his wife on Fork this year. Great Texas folks. I'm hoping to swing 7 days on T bend for the BBS. Not looking to prefish very much, just some good camp cooking, relax, and then hit it hard for the tourney. Pre-fished for the Legends on Fork and caught my over the weekend before, seems to be a pattern for me and Big Bass tourneys, so I try not to prefish those as much and just rely on some good ole luck. If Toledo has been anything like Fork, the Summer deep bite has been spotty. With the rains moving on, and the heat index up, it won't be much longer till you can start setting the watch for the summer bite. Only one lake in the area that hasn't reached pool level that I know of, Lake Cooper, the rest got filled up!!!! ...........Moment of silence to thank God for the precious water we received. Thanks Catt Matt

Power worms, Gene Larews, Zoom, and Bass Assians have the colors that I throw most of the time. Gene Larew makes a Fire n Ice that none of the other comes close to. So its usually because of the color that a company makes that works. I love Zoom plum because it seems to get more bites than the Berkley Plum does. So its strictly from color selection and success on which and what I throw. Matt
  11. I like to save my 10 plus plastics. I cut the tails from torn up worms and later use them as senko style baits or 7 inch worms for french fry type baits for C-rigs. Also, with the 10 inch plus bodies, I use an older soldiering iron to fuse the body and another 10 inch together to give me 16 inch plus worms. If you repair electronics, it will ruin a good soldier pencil tip, very hard to keep clean after you fuse some together. Hookem Matt
  12. Welcome to the forum, Hookem Matt
  13. In east Texas, the lakes are full and the grass is growing to reach the new surface. Later in the summer when droughts set upon us, the lake levels decrease making the mats super tough to punch through. My favorite is tossing a 10 inch plus pegged worms into the air. 1 ounce or bigger gets the job done. When all else fails, the heavy jig works also. Hookem Matt
  14. When lake levels rise, it creates a new buffet on the newly flooded vegitation that is now submerged. When the gates open, it creates current, and current positions fish for feeding. On mainlake areas, key in on the long underwater points and similar areas. If you have newly flooded vegitation, you could toss some search baits such as a spinnerbait or pitch or flip to the bank until you key in on what the fish are holding to. Some time lakes are down for long periods of time, and a big rise can creat a new lake, and the way it once was fishing changes with the new face lift it recieves. Matt.
  15. Can't believe Vanish is still on the market. It should have Vanished by now. They might have worked the kinks out, but how do you tell you have a fresher spool?????????????? Lost too many fish trying it out. Matt
  16. For the money, Big Game has with stood the test over the years. Tough, reliable, and very affordable. Matt
  17. Congrats on the PB. Hookem Matt
  18. Nope, that was when I went to Academy to purchase a 3 gal gas tank ....... and walked out with a Calais 100A reel and a bunch of baits I wasn 't going to buy. Don 't ask me how it happened but it happened. :-? Raul, Do you have Academy's and such to shop at in Mexico? We know you have the Japanesse phonebook for bait shops down pat. Hookem Matt
  19. Was wanting to know with all the rain in Texas, have the bass started their transition into the summer pattern, or has the rain delayed the deeper bite. Catt, I will be down there later in the month for a week, any suggestions? Matt
  20. My brain says the Spurs because they have the Home Court advantage. My heart is pulling for the Texas -Ex, the sophmore turned pro, Daniel Gibson. Hookem Matt
  21. A Bass that followed but turned away at the last minute have shown they are curious, but something wasn't right. That bass has basically just told you there something amiss, something that didn't appeal to them. Changes are to be made. Whether you change cadence, color, or size, or different lure, make some subltle changes. Matt
  22. A great example of a pro doing what they know best was seen on the Northern Run of the Elite Series to the Great Northern waters. Every body who predicted a winner said, "who ever patterns the smallies" will be in the money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Northern tour series bring back to back winners with Largemouth sacks and were caught shallow on jigs? Exactly opposite of what the pro's thought. I believe Biffle and Brauer went "against the grain". 98 other pros tried what they thought would put the best limit in the boat. Matt To me, they fished their strengths.
  23. The normal side arm doesn't give you a low enough trajectory at times. Try using a roll cast. Practice , practice, and more practice. I find that baits I use on BC's are better bulky type baits with less appendages make better skipping baits for baitcasters. I like tubes in these situations with screw lock weights. Sometimes you have to trade off with different applications. I have found that I can skip with spinning gear and a heavy line fairly easy, thus not giving up line strength. 17 lb mean green McCoys is as tough as they come and skips just fine on spinning tackle. Learning to skip accurately is a big advantage over alot of good anglers. Not everyone can pick a dock apart by skipping. Hookem Matt
  24. You might try reading an article in the central section written by Lake Fork Guide Tom Reddington on how to rig the LF Magic Shad. It might be a page or two back, its been a few months. Give this one a look see!!! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1166206401/4#4 Matt
  25. I like to use a Texas rig to reach out and touch something, ie.....a target that is further from the boat. My experience with a jig is mainly in closer proximity near the boat, like pitching and flipping close targets. Matt
