Blizzard In The Mid South
Made it to work today, only for it to start sleeting. With it being 30 I decided not to risk it. Looks like I'll be at home until Wed... If only I didn't have a big deadline. eek. Oh well, time to watch fishing shows. :

Great day on the Water.
More and more fossil fuel plants are moving toward technology to recapture and become "emissionless" so environmental impact is reduced. That said, coal plants are probably the worst polluters for fish because of the trace levels of mercury in plant emissions. Heck, during normal operations they even have higher dose rates than nuclear plants. To get this back on topic, I wish I had a lake like that near me.

Bad Winter, Need Coaching
I have been busy with work and haven't had a chance to really get out on the water. I've pretty much been blanked whenever I have. I'm used to shallow water fishing and that doesn't cut it on the big reservoirs I've been going to, especially during the winter. I've tried reading the articles on here, but it hasn't paid dividends yet. If anyone would like to get out on the boat so I can absorb some of your knowledge (or have company in getting skunked), I would greatly appreciate it. Let me know!

powerplant fishing
Nice, which lake was this?

Great day on the Water.
The impact on the lake itself should be minimal to non-existent depending on the type of plant. A nuclear plant, for example, has no concerns of this type.

Atlanta Area
Hey y'all, I'm just curious as to where you've been catching most of your fish. I've been having spotty luck real shallow (1 ft or less), but think there might be better fishing deeper. I just hesitate to switch from something that's at least catching fish.

Targeting dinks
You read right. So the family farm pond has become bass heavy. It still has the occasional giant, but the vast majority are less than a pound. I'm on a mission this upcoming weekend to catch off as many as possible. Problem is, it's a pretty shallow pond in South Georgia and the bite has historically been pretty bad in August. It has tons of wood cover and banks are lined with lily pads. How would you approach this?

Live bluegill as bait?
I do this sometimes when I just feel like sitting. Hook them in the back and ten to twenty minutes you should get a bite. You'll be surprised by how small the bass are that will go after some of the bluegill.

Lake Lanier Georgia
I either catch a ton or get skunked here. I spent all last Sunday chasing around bass schooling up shad for one hookup. :

Country Music
I like all the OCMS love going on here. Definitely one of my favorites. The new stuff is hit or miss with me, but to keep it concise and name my favorite country artist: Alan Jackson

New to N. Georgia area
Welcome to the site and area. Whereabouts in Marietta (feel free to pm me)? Most of the neighborhood ponds in our area are stocked pretty well and are your best bets for taking a kid. There's also some fish to be had over in the Chattahoochee. I would recommend Azalea park (On Azalea Dr) for that. Of course you could always head on up to one of the many public ramps on Allatoona and try putting a line out there. Always feel free to shoot me a pm if you'd like to go out on one of the lakes. My boat is up on Lanier right now.

Am I the only angler here who uses ONLY spinning gear?
Spinning gear exclusively here myself. I'm thinking about diving into baitcasters...we'll see.

Y'all were right
So admittedly I was skeptical on the advice to stand behind a tree for those bass you can see but can't get to bite. Well today I came across that exact situation and after a few attempts where the bass just didn't seem interested, I took a walk up the bank about 20 yards and found a tree. Waited 5 minutes then cast a ways past the bass and slowly drug a soft plastic lizard right past it. Man was it satisfying when I felt it pick up the hook, set, and then scrambling back down to the shore to land a solid three pounder. Never would have thought to do that before, thanks for the great advice guys. Hopefully I'll spot a bigger one next time

Lake Seminole?????
Lake Seminole has everything, I'm not sure if the shad are the main forage but they are in there. When I went a month or so ago, they seemed to want white crankbaits if that helps.

First vacation of the year
So I took a day off work to head down to South GA/North FL for a long weekend because I was sick and tired of the cold and wet around Atlanta. I was concerned because my dad had been skunked the three days prior to me and my friends coming down. Luckily though I figured out the pattern relatively early and knocked out 35 fish on buzzbaits in less than 4 feet of water. Exactly the opposite of what instinct told me, which is why I tried it. All dinks though so the second day we headed out on Lake Seminole to try for some bigger fish. Still all in about 4-6 ft of water on crankbaits this time. One of my friends got his first fish if you could call it that (maybe 8 inch bass), but it'll work. and the other had his personal best on the line in my pond, but it broke off at the dock . we had tons of bigger fish chase the lures back to the boat all weekend, tried switching colors to no avail and couldn't pull any faster. Tough bite, but fun trip.

Catch & Release
C&R on reservoirs. In my pond I'll keep 8-12" bass for whole fish fries once every trip. Nothing tastes better and my little lake has managed to be bass heavy for the days when you want numbers and has multiple 12+ lb fish and tons of 8 lb bass.

What have you lost from it going overboard?
I once literally dropped the pliers in instead of the fish. I then went to reach for em and dropped my hat that had my sunglasses and a custom croakie on it(why did i have them on my hat is still beyond me). I tied on a jigging spoon and managed to get the hat back, but gave up on the other stuff after a while.

Video editing?
Try looking up Pinnacle Studio. They should have a demo version that does most everything basic.

Do You Drink While on the Water?
I normally bring some, but the only time it gets drank is if we set up with some live bait in a cove, but then it's an all day and into the night thing.

Any of you ever been in a bar fight?
I would like to preface this with saying that I am the happiest drunk ever, and will hug a stranger before speaking ill of anybody. This wasn't exactly a bar fight, but one of my friends and his wife and daughter were walking with me to the stadium before the UGA v GT game. Some shirtless tool decided my buddy's walking offended him and charged him and threw a punch out of nowhere. I don't exactly remember how it went down, but the three cops that pulled me off the guy took my side on that one. Bad apples ruin things for the rest of us. That's my view on bar fights

where to go?
Do you like fishing hydrilla? If so, it's an amazing reservoir. If you aren't familiar with it, it can be intimidating. The pure wildlife experience though is second to none.

Chattahoockie Bass Fishing
Nice, I just graduated in December myself. For me it's 8 am and I went to FSU, MSU, Vandy, and ACCCG. I think I went to one other away game, but this year was such a blur I can't even think straight. Starkville was definitely my favorite, I wish we had a tailgate scene like theirs. I think this upcoming year I'm going to set up on the bridge.
