best spinner for smallies
I like the Terminator Tungsten series in chart./white and golden shiner. The tungsten allows for a heavy spinnerbait with a small profile.

come back lure
I usually toss a wacky-rigged senko or a 1/4oz jig in a bright color in there after missing a fish.

** TOP SECRET **
I caught on to the Slender Pointers last spring and I'm glad I did. Smallies, spots, and largemouths will come from miles around to slam these baits. My favorite one is the 112 in American Shad.

What was your best fishing deal?
Wow, yalls walmarts have a lot better stuff than the one in my area does, their fishing section is mostly crap. But the best deal I ever got was from a guy who lives about a 1/4 mile down the road from me. Back when I was just starting to seriously get into bass fishing he would take me out on our 50 acre lake and would teach me all kinds of stuff about where bass hung out, what to throw during different times of the year, and how to tie different knots. He also gave me my first baitcasting rig.

what would you use these rods for?
1. 6'6" Heavy action- flippin and ptchin jigs and t-rigs in heavy cover. 2. 6'6" MH action- casting spinnerbaits, jigs, and shallow diving crankbaits around moderate cover. 3. 6'6" Medium action- cranking, topwater, jerkbaits, and small finesse jigs. 4. 6' MH action- skipping senkos under docks, throwing spinnerbaits around overhanging trees. 5. 6' Medium action- throwing weightless trick worms, shaky head worms, and drop-sotting.

Biggest fish of '07 so far...
I managed a few keeper size largemouth on the Pamunkey River using a Rootbeer Bandit 200 series crank and a black/blue jig in about 11' of water. My dad did haul in a nice 6lb striper from the Pamunkey on a ZOOM trick worm in Okeechobee Craw on a 1/4oz jighead in 5' of water. But I haven't made a cast since the beginning of January. I can't wait til spring cuz me and OBX are gonna be tearin up the brown bass on the Rivanna

How is your weather this morning?
Yup, it's coold here in central VA. The low monday night was exactly 0 degrees but we did get a heat wave and it warmed up to a whopping 9 degrees this morning. I thought I lived in Virginia not the arctic circle.

New Lowrance X96
I ordered a new Lowrance X96 a couple days ago and it finally came today. I'm really excited to try it, because it came with a Gimbal mount and everything else for only $150. If anyone here has had any experience with this unit I would love to here some opinions on it.

saying hi
Welcome to the boards! Those are some really good lookin baits, I really like the color on the bottom one.
-
sweet beaver.
I really like Penetration and Spring break. For clear water I would suggest Infection or Main Vein.
-
shakey head
I only use the Dave's Tournament Tackle spot hopper in 1/4 and 1/8oz. It's basically a spot remover with better components IMO. Also instead of that screw lookin' thing on the spot remover it has spring so the bait will not slip at all.

Dropshot
For the regular finesse drop-shot technique I like ZOOM finesse worms, Roboworms, and GYCB fat baby craws. For hooks I use a 1/0 lightwire Gamakatsu worm hook. Most of the time I use a 1/4oz weight but I will go up or down depending on depth. For line I mostly use P-Line fluorocarbon but I am startign to really like the Seaguar Carbon Pro fluorocarbon line. For flippin a dropshot I use any normal flippin bait such as a tube or a sweet beaver. I use a 4/0 Gamakatsu Superline wide gap worm hook. A 3/4 or 1oz tungsten weight depending on the thickness of the cover. And 50-60lb Stren Super Braid.

Fly guys
Yup I understand most of it, the only thing I don't get is how do you tie something in a four corner way?
-
Fly guys
I was wonderin' why it was doin that, thanks man. Also, do you tie any jigs? because I've been havin a problem with the hair bunching up in one spot on the jig, especially with marabou, when I want it to be spread evenly all the way around the hook. Thank you again.

Fly guys
Those are some really good lookin flies, especially that clouser and the big deer hair fly.
-
best jigs
I really like the Persuader big jigs for flipping and pitching, and for finesse or swimming I like Conquistador Tackle's Conquest Jig and my homemade jigs.
-
How often do you guys find Lures?
I find lots of crankbaits and jerkbaits hung up in the many laydowns in the Pamunkey River during low tide.

small rivers, streams, and creeks
I fish the Rivanna and several other small creeks that yield monster smallies. The key to this kind of fishing is to move slow to avoid spooking fish, to do this I suggest wearing dark clothing, making long casts, wading or floating slowly, and if you are waiting NEVER wade with the current. This is because all of the debris you kick up will be swept towards the fish and it will spook them, always wade against the current. Also, I downsize pretty much everything when fishing small rivers and creeks. I use a 6' Ultralight with 6lb fluorocarbon for tossing small jerkbaits and topwaters. I use a 6'3" Medium action Shimano rod with 10lb fluorocarbon for tossing small tubes, jigs, senkos, and flukes. And don't overlook flyfishing, a 4 weight flyrod and a creek full of feisty brown bass equals some of the best fishing there is.

Spinnerbait with 2 skirts
If yer lookin to buy some River2Sea makes a spinnerbait with 2 skirts, it's called the Hula Shad. http://www.***.com/descpageSPINR2S-RSHS.html

Persuader crankbaits
I really like the look of the 200 and 300 series, but I just can't scrape up the $$$ for one right now.

Lucky Craft Pointer?
Pointer 100 in Aurora Gold, and a close second is the Slender pointer 112 in American Shad.

First try with tying hair jigs

Fly guys
I know we got a few flyfisherman on this site, but how many fly tyers do we have? I just started tying in the last year and I can tie a few simple patterns like a clouser minnow, woolly bugger, stonefly nymph, and a few others. Please feel free to post a few pics of work you have done, and if you experts have a few tips fer newbs like me it sure would be appreciated 8-) oops, I think this belongs in the tacklemaking section :-[.

jig with or with out trailer
I always add a trailer on every jig I use. It makes the bait appear more natural and it gives the jig better and more action.
