New Bps Online Sale
Speaking of making it lightweight....I have some very lightweight reels and to me I prefer a reel in the 6.5 oz to 8.0 oz range.....it seems to me they are built a little more solid that way....i work on reels like a lot of guys do on here and some of the expensive lightweight ones just don't seem as durable. But only time will tell since the super lightweight reels have only been on the market for a few years.

New Bps Online Sale
Guys, just checked on BPS website and they are having a sale until 4/6. They have an advertisement for the Pro Qualifiers at $79.00 but if you look at the Pro Qualifiers to choose which model you want it says 69.97 or something like that. And you can get free shipping by adding a code when checking out. I had to buy 2 as backups. Don't know if it is marked wrong or not but get them before they change the price. (unless its a sales ploy)

Reel Techs
Hey guys, I've got a baitcaster that every once in a while when I set the hook or pull the line real hard will break loose and the handle will spin backwards (drag is very tight otherwise) ....I replaced the anti-reverse bearing but it still happens occasionally....Could the pinion gear be involved in this also? It doesn't look too bad but I'm stumped. Thanks, Kevin

I Cant Stop Buying Tackle!!!!!!!
My wife thinks I have enough tackle for 10 hardcore bass anglers for the rest of their lives plus mine......I think she is exaggerating a little bit....It's probably only enough for 9 hardcore bass anglers.

Casting Experts, Ever See Shag Shahid
I'm sure some of the older guys remember Shag Shahid and his casting expertise....I remember being at a boat sport and travel show when I was a kid and saw him do some casting tricks that I have never seen since....I consider myself really good at casting, including pitching and flipping, and it all was because of watching him.....Now I will admit I am not even in his league nor are most anglers around including the pros....I saw him on the fish tank at the show pitching a jig in different cups that people were holding in the audience. He was pitching long distances too and he kept putting the jig in the cup every time...my dad and I just laughed, waiting for him to miss but he didn't....he did other tricks that would put most of us to shame....really an amazing exhibition....He was using an old Lews Speed Spool reel and made it look so easy. Haven't seen an exhibition like that since.

Indy Boat Sport & Travel Show
Went to the indy boat sport and travel show today and was able to get two new Dobyns rods for 25% off plus two free Dobyns hats and T-shirts....not bad. Plus met David Fritts and talked to him for 10 minutes, he seemed like a nice guy, wasn't rushing around & answered everyone's questions. Also met Dion Hibdon and George Cochran.....good time.

New Quantum Accurist Pt Baitcasters
Anyone tried one of the new black and white versions of this model? Just wanting to know how they are since they are in the $100 range. Trying to see if they can compete with the PQ / Speed Spool and the other $100 models.

Whats The Life Of Fluorocarbon?
According to the manufacturers, the line will not deteriorate due to UV rays or water absorbtion....so basically its just the wear and tear from casting, pulling, scrapes and abrazions that cause failure. Mono breaks down from UV rays.

Need A New Mono
Hey Ghoti, If you would consider a copolymer, I've always thought that Excalibur (Silver Thread) was one of the best lines I have ever used. I still use it to this day. Low memory and very strong.

What Are Your Favorite Tubes?
My favorite by far is the Snack Daddy Elite Tubes....4 inch Roadkill color....Absolutely deadly.....These tubes have a little bigger head on them which I love. I think they are triple dipped. Very soft and scented. These are the only ones I throw now. Give them a try.... you won't regret.

Flw Central Indiana Pros
Hey guys, Getting cold here in central Indiana and as I drove by one of our local reservoirs today, I see the Red Gold wrapped truck (Todd Hollowell) and the Fatheadz wrapped truck (Jacob Wheeler) and their empty trailers sitting with only maybe another 4 trucks / trailers.....I fish this reservoir a lot and these guys always seem to be out there. I guess this is what separates the hardcore fisherman from the weekend warriors. These guys do the FLW Tour and whenever they are back here in Indiana you can bet they will be on one of our local waters.....I have already winterized my boat for the year and I feel like a wimp after seeing these young guys out there doing their thing whether experimenting with new lures or whatever they are working on. I met both at the Indianapolis boat, sport & travel show this last year and these young guys are great. And of course those of you who follow the FLW Tour know that Wheeler has won the Forrest Wood Cup and recently finished second this year. Hollowell has been working on his own fishing show that will be coming out soon. Great to see these young Indiana guys succeed.

Bps Pro Qualifier Bc Reel – 5 Year Challenge – 4 Years Down, 1 To Go
Goose, thanks for the information...I've had a couple of Pro Qualifiers for about 4 years and both have been flawless. I also fish Revo's and Chronarchs but the Pro Qualifier is right up there. And guys, as hard as Goose has fished this reel, it probably means it is a 15 year reel for most of us. I probably get to fish 50 days a year so I can expect mine to last a long time with proper maintenance. And of course the best thing about the PQ........when it goes on sale for $80.00. That is a steal.

Reel Repair Guys
Hey guys, I've got a Garcia Record 60 and the anti-reverse bearing has went out. Looks like the bearing is pressed into the side plate and Abu says sideplate is no longer available. Do you know where I might be able to get one or is there another model with a round side plate that could be used to fit the reel. Just wanted to see if there is anything I can do with it. Thanks for any advice.

Lews Speed Spools
First of all, I love my Revos and Chronarchs but last year I bought 2 of the $99.00 Lews Speed Spools just to see how they perform. I was impressed last year when I used them a few times. Well, today I was out with a buddy fishing in about 15 mile an hour winds, not super bad but still windy. I happened to bring with me one of the speed spools that was set up with a 1/2 ounce Bomber Fat Free shad crankbait. When I was casting into the wind, I was absolutely launching some long very long casts without any backlashes. Sure, I had everything set just right but I am totally shocked about how well the Lews performs, especially at that price range. I must have made over 100 casts with it today and all it did was launch my crankbait as far as I can with my revos and chronarchs. We will see about the longevity of these reels over time but I can't say enough good things about my experience so far. Crazy for $99.00.

What Was Your Most Cherished Fishing Moment ?
Taking my daughter with me to a local two man team tournament. We finished in 2nd place out of about 22 boats and won some money. She actually caught 3 of our 4 keepers. This was the very first tournament she fished with me. It was awesome. By the way, I let her have the money since she caught the majority of our keepers!
