  1. I got one when they were on sale. I've looked it over and it looks well finished. It hasn't seen the water yet because I haven't been out.
  2. While they (and by they, I mean me) throw neon green line with blaze orange backing. That's why they make mat black forceps and line clippers too. Might be an issue if you are fishing at close quarters in the smokies or somewhere like that. On a tailwater or lake, I really don't think that's an issue. It got me curious, so I looked. My flyrod blanks are black, maroon, green, blue, dark red and kind of a burnt orange. The reels are black, gunmetal and two silvers.
  3. If you feel the need to set the hook, don't use a circle type hook. If you can restrain yourself and just reel, you will find you have a VERY high hookup ratio. If you are teaching kids or the spouse to dropshot, there is no better hook to use IMO. I use both kinds. Right now, I'm on VMC spinshots but it's sure not because I couldn't hook fish with circle hooks. It's to help with the line twist. Come to think about it, I don't set them either.
  4. Quantum Response $45 - QX48 IM8 graphite construction - MicroTrac line guide system - Pro-style split-grip EVA handles - PacBay reel seats - Aluminum oxide guides Pretty good stick I have the 7 foot MH.
  5. I really liked it right up until the time it went (and it went quick). Since then I've gotten mostly PQs. The next one will be a Lews.
  6. It's a decent reel for the price. Mine lasted about 2.5 years before it crapped out and I used the crap out it. I handled fish up to about 6 pounds. You can feel it start to flex and loosen up, then you'll know it's getting ready to go.
  7. Seaguar red and I also have used Viscous on occasion with good results.
  8. If I'm not getting bit on what I think I should be the pattern, it's the first thing I pick up.

I've got some and I like them a lot. Good sharp hooks out of the package. Durable too.
  10. I've got a M action spinning rod. I like it and it's sensitive. Seems a little stiff for a M though.
  11. The Who, Alpine Valley, WI about 89 or so.
  12. Definitely the MH or H rod and braid. 3/4 oz weight, Side sweep and you are good to go.
  13. No, but I might give it a shot sometime. I personally use a 3/0 light wire hook and braid. Knock on wood, but I haven't had the gut hook issues but I don't C rig in heavy weed.
  14. A Quantum Antix that I bought on a whim because I wanted another reel and they were out of Lews. Started out great. Lasted about half a season and now screeches like a cage full of monkeys. Yes, I did lube it. A lot. Several times. Two different spinning rods that I wanted for dropshotting that I can't stand. One Berkley and one Abu.
  15. I never caught anything but bluegills, bass, crappie, catfish (once) until about 15 years ago when I caught my first trout on a fly. It's still the biggest one that I've ever caught.
  16. I'm sure it was a bluegill.
  17. You can't go wrong either way, to be honest. The BPS stick has more guides IIRC. Both are surprisingly sensitive for the price.
  18. snaps on both crankin' rods.
  19. We had a 150 on the front of the boat for a while. It's a pretty impressive unit for the price. Good resolution for the size and showed structure and bait surprisingly well.
