Fuego CT or Tatula 100
Fuego: Cheaper Built like a tank Less to go wrong That greater line capacity mentioned above is awesome if you later use it for 15-20lb flouro. Until then just use cheap mono as a backer for the 10-12lb line or braid.

Graphite Chatterbait Rod
I switch between the Phenix Recon 804 (8' up to 1oz) and a custom build NFC 807 (8' 3/8oz - 1 1/2oz). Both are great "sub-fast" tapers, the extra length def helps with the hookset, especially when they eat/push it from behind, taking up slack on the swing. The beauty of these 2 is that I can use them for a lot of techniques, more than a composite rod could do (awesome Carolina rig rods).

Gauging Strength Of Spinning Reels
Get a BG2500 and be done with it. Little heavy bit will balance the rod better.

Daiwa tatula lt question
In theory the spool with the larger diameter should cast further (straighter line off the spool). That being said it's probably negligible. The 3000 LT is what I would do. More for balance than the line capacity and casting distance.

Base layer options
If you aren't considering Patagonia Capilene, One Lightweight and one mid weight, you are doing yourself a disservice. I'm still rocking a lightweight that is 21 years old. Super performance and unbelievable durability. As stated before, Base Layer, thin fleece and a shell/down and you are golden. (Vermonter that has worked in the Ski/outdoor industry for a long time).

Lake Champlain
Wind is always something to deal with up here. June is still spawn for sm (full moons). LM will will be spawing too but further along. We could have any sort of water conditions though. If we get a ton of snow and flood, June will have the spawn delayed a bit. But if our current weather pattern continues we'll be low and the spawn will be slightly further along when you're here. Message me when you get closer to coming up. You staying at Marine Village?

Water temp by region
I think it's more than temperature that affects spawn, (moon phase, current, light spectrum...). Do I think northern fish eat/spawn at lower temps? Yes... they have to since the growing season is so short. I've seen many LM spawning well before the SM on Champlain. Feeding? Man they chew in February through the ice up here. It seems like they're easier to catch then than they were in Kissimmee the next day, when I went. (Florida strain vs northern aside). I think shocks or big deviations from the seasonal norms have a big effect on all fish behavior.
