  1. As has been stated 14-16lb Sniper and Conditioner.
  2. Eagle Claw 60 degree swimbait hook in 4/0 1/4oz (Swimbait and "Rage rig") Gammy 4/0 EWG (Senko, flukes, Carolina Rigged Keitechs and Fat Ikas) Gammy 1/0 drop shot (drop shot and nose hooked baits) Trokar 2/0 offset worm (Carolina Rig small craws). VMC 4/0 Ike Flipping hook.
  3. Curado 70 has a "cost" of ~$125 from wholesalers. If you are under $150, you are doing ok. Mine was an "eBaying while drinking" shot at a Japanese TDZ. Threw up a low bid, went to bed, woke up the next morning with a new reel.
  4. I got one that was absolutely rashed beyond recognition, cleaned it took it out and it outcast a new Curado by a fair margin. For me a top end used reel that might be 10 years old still performs as well as many new reels in that same price range.
  5. The water clarity and increase in current will likely play a larger role than the temperature change.
  6. I just got a Daiwa TDZ 100ML for $95. You can find TDZ's and Fuegos (old red ones) for $100. New Reels... Daiwa Tatula CT is available for $99.95, awesome reel.
  7. Tatulas are my favorite bang for the buck rods. For $90-110 they truly are all you need. The 7'2" MHR is my favorite Keitech swimbait, chatterbait rod ever.
  8. Try putting something that's about an inch thick under the flat bottom seat, except where the recess needs to be. That would seem to solve the clearance issue. BassboatSeats also does carpet, it's sort of the de-facto one stop shop for the major parts of a refurb.

Cordell Wally Diver Cast out and on the retrieve a pack of smallies came back with it... I was hooked.
  10. I know up here guys go darkish on the hulls because they are harder to see from a distance with a shoreline in the back ground. Then when loading up they always complain about how the dark shows the dirt/dust... Me I've got Gold and Brown with tan carpet...
  11. Up on Champlain I'd wager with a team tournament 65% limit (six fish), 25% get something (5 fish or weigh in one for lunker), 10% blank. With Boater and Non boater tournaments (locals, Not BFL, Costa, FLW, BASS) I'd nudge the limits up to 70% and blanks down to 5%. I understand we are sort of an anomaly as far as the sheer # of bass we have. Our lake is so big that it doesn't have a time when they aren't biting all over it. If Ti is dead, guaranteed there are Smallies up north or mid lake. Shallow fish are off, there are deep ones biting a run away.
  12. http://www.doyofishing.co.kr/main/index Lews, BPS, and Pure Fishing open doyo's catalog and pick a reel to have their name applied to. You want a Liger? You can get it at Doyo. You want a Lew's that looks like a 10 year old Quantum, they got those too. Thing is it's not necessary a bad thing, tons of recreation companies do this. Some like to built a chair to sit in. Some like to build a chair because they enjoy building the chair... If you are the type that values the time on the water that's where the doyo stuff is good (sit in the chair). I personally have never seen an OEM/catalog item last as long as a product that is made by a company with their own factories.
  13. If you have navionics on your phone with way points then you don't need a map. Just navigate with the phone, get to your spot and mark it on the Striker.
  14. 8lb YZH or 10lb Yo Zuri Top Knot Fluoro.
  15. Totally can walk a bait with a long rod, just don't go straight down with your movement, go diagonally down to the side.
  16. Super spooks, 5" lunker punkers, buzzjets. All could be used on that rod.
  17. Phoenix 919 or 721 in your range.
  18. I've noticed no Rhyme or Reason to senkos and the fish that eat them. Buddy dragging a 5" senko off the side of my canoe with the TM at max got smoked by a 14" Crappie. 5" Senko caught a 5" bass. Up hear Pre and Post spawn a 6" senko kills the smallies, but a 5" gets passed over. I know on the St Larry the 4" senko is a must. I've got custom pour 10" senkos that have caught 12"ers. I think it's more about the angler's confidence (most of the time) in what they are throwing.
  19. Rem-Oil (available nearly everywhere) and Phil Wood for grease. Phil Wood grease is available at bike shops, the stuff is amazing thick enough to stick well, but not so thick as to slow things up. Trust me, if you don't like it, I will personally reimburse you, that's how awesome the stuff is.
  20. For a point of reference... You list 2 brands that fish heavier than most. IE your ml in St Croix and Fenwick are medium in most other brands.
  21. These are Rx7's, could I cut down the 8ft'er?
  22. Looking to build a chatterbait rod that will also serve as a larger treble rod as well. I like a more moderate action for chatterbaits, I've narrowed it down to these popping blanks: 7' 10-20 line, 3/8-1oz 7'6" 8-17 line, 1/4-3/4 8' (same specs as the 7' above) I like to throw 1/2oz plus chatterbaits with a trailer (devil spear, 3.8-4.8 keitech, 4" lft magic shad). I am doing most of my fishing in the moderate cover of northern Lake Champlain. Am I out of my head thinking a popping blank would work for this? Given my location and bait preference, which of these blanks would you choose?
  23. 7' St Croix Avid UL moderate with a Shimano Symetre 750 is a thing of beauty.
  24. Reels: Up to $50 Daiwa RG ~$60. Pflueger President or Shimano Sedona You really don't need to spend more put $$$ into the rod. Rods: St Croix (Trout, panfish, premier or Avid) can't really go wrong with their rods Daiwa JDM Presso $$$$$$ Phenix Elixer slightly less $$$ BPS Micro Lite, good budget rods
