If you can do 230. do 230. Go to your local BPS and find a knowledgeable saleman. Spend 100 on a PQ or carbonlite. then spend every last dime on your rod.

Carbonlite. More sensitive. lighter. not as tip heavy

That price range is a little hard because for a combo in that range, you'll notice a difference from your old gear, but if you wait a little bit until you have around $230-ish then get a Pro Qualifier or Carbonlite for your reel. The Carbonlite is just a nicer version of the Pro Q for only $20 more and weighs less. Get a 6.X:1 Gear ratio. For your rod you suggested that you want an all purpose rod, but you mainly like throwing cranks, and texas rigs. I'm going to recommend the Falcon Bucoo. Get the 7' MH. It has just the right tip to were you wont rip cranks out of the fishes mouth, but you cant still get that nice hookset with single hook lures. Also look at the SHIMANO Crucials If you have any questions about the Pro Qualifier, Carbonlite or Bucoo just ask me, I own them 8-) However even though Wannabe Ike's family has 10 Vendetta's, I can't and won't recommend them. They are heavier and the weight is more in the tip. Thats not so comfortable. And for an extra 20-30 dollars you will get a noticeable increase in sensitivity. And like all people new to the baitcasting world, your going to have to learn. I can give you the written instructions by me or I can make you a Youtube video. 8-)

I hate people who do all this stupid bs crap. I've actually had some one steal the whole trunk lid of my 01 Ford Focus while I was in hope depot for no more than 15 minutes. They never caught the theif/theives either. I hope all the people who do this crap should have it done to them!

Bravo good job! And its because not every body takes to it that easy, and when most start they aren't apart of a forum where they can obtain valuable advice. My first reel (a wally world special) didn't even come with instructions as to what the knobs did, so I learnt the hard way. I feel a good percentage of people learnt that way. And, your starting out with decent gear, most starters in fishing have just picked up a cheap combo at walmart which makes it 1345% harder.

And here's how. Study peopleofwalmart.com and try your best to replicate. Rule 2. Get a tattoo of a mom heart but in stead of writing mom, insert " Free Bird"

I just thought I would mention this. if you set the hook with slack line(with the line snapping tight) while using braid on a big fish you will likely snap your line, I have done it and seen it done pitching and flipping several times in or near heavy cover places like okeechobee, in fact it cost me quite a few spots at the southern open there by braking a fish off. Thanks for pointing that out ;D Hadn't thought about that!
