If you could never fish with a fishing lure, but could put a hook on any household item, what would it be? (It can't be anything fishing related) I am interested in hearing your answers! I think I would put a hook on a small can of Budweiser. Because who/what can't pass up a cold one ? 8-)

What have we all been taught to do when a fish takes our lure? Thats right 1.Lower your rod tip. 2.Reel in the slack 3.Set the hook. While for almost every bait this works, its actually not what you want to do when texas rigging. You want a powerful sharp hookset, on slack-ish line. Here's why, Check out my experiment below. DON'T Try this experiment Take a regular texas rigged worm, get it wet and form a fist around it (Dont grip very hard were simulating a fishes mouth). Now take your line and pull with a slow, steady motion. The worm will slide out of your fist never hooking you. Now try again with a very fast, sharp motion. You will probably have to go to the hospital the hook is so deep in your hand. The extra fast tip gives you that fast, sharp hookset.

Do you fish these rods? Personally I don't own any of the above (for now) BUT, while co-angling in a tournie my partner let me use his ( He owns both) And seemed right on par with each other.

The Cumara Reaction series start at 200 bucks. Thats not what he's really looking for from what I understand. The regular Cumaras are 219+. If you shop around, I'm sure you can find them at better prices though. The same holds true for anything mentioned in this thread. What is a Reaction I have ment to ask someone already but never think about it Im by no means an expert on SHIMANO's products, but i'm too lazy at the moment to look it up, but I can scientifically guess it's a rod designed for reaction baits. i.e Cranks, Spinnerbaits, etc. It probably has a parabolic bend.

I live in VA and have no idea what that question means, But if its religion, Im a proud believer in the man upstairs 8-)

When I first started out fishing my junky reel broke so I did it with my Ugly Stick. Takes a while to get the fly cast down but it works!

Pshhhhhhh forget that Cumara... and a reel for that matter. Just pick you up a G.Loomis NRX and tie the braid directly to the tip and fish it cane pole style 8-) 8-) You can call it "The head Turner " :
