The Dobyns Champion and Falcon Cara t7 to me are quite comparible, but the Dobyns warranty is better with a $60 no questions asked rod replacement. So my vote slights the Dobyns.

I always use extra fast action when using soft plastics. It seems to rip the hook right out.

Thats probably one of the best you can get in that range. Also check out the shimano Crucial, its a nice stick. If you have any really in depth questions about the Crucial you could PM SoFlaBassAddict.

My pinky goes on the first finger section, and my ring finger goes on the exposed blank section, Then my middle finger goes on the rod or the bottom of the front of my reel depending on technique, and my pointer wraps around the front of the reel, while my thumb just chills on top 8-)

Thats still not really a price range. What do you want to spend on a rod? $150 or $500? Same for your reel.

I'm going to strongly recommend you buy the best rod that you can. You'll be satisfied that you got the BEST rod you could and you'll never think to yourself, "What if I bought that (for example) Lowrider or Avid, instead of buying this Vendetta. Maybe I really should have gotten a better rod." Just saying, it would eat me up knowing I could've gotten a great rod for just $30 more instead I settled for less because of a few measly dollars. Just my 2 Cents

x2 I cant think of any reason why a short rod would be stiffer. My 5'6" M/F bends the exact same as my 7' M/F

Spend as much as you can for your bottom contact rod. You want as much sensitivity as you can get. If your rod range is $200 then shoot for as high as you can get!

Look at the Powell Max 703c And the Dobyns Savvy series. 703c. As for your reel if you wanna save about 70-100 bucks, go with the BPS Pro Qualifier or BPS Carbonlite. They are exceprional reels for the money. How ever If you want to spend about 200 on your reel go with the Shimano Curado. They are exceptional. Go with the 100E if your using regular weighted t-rigs jigs i.e 1/8 ounce or more. If you plan on throwing weightless go with the 50E

I've never heard anything bad about the Falcon Cara T7's. I think Falcon is an undermentioned rod company who make great rods.

They should be good for top water, and also very slow presentation because the shorter the rod, the less line you move per twitch, thus the bait only moves a little.

Oh I forgot that they had green accents on the rod! ;D I just think about all the other rods that aren't green that just kinda look funny

x2, I'm going to slowly transition my PQ's to Curados. Except them Curados are getting a paint job I just cant stand the green they chose! I think i'm going to keep my Carbonlite reel though, because i'm oddly attached to it
