  1. As an alternative try a small bit of tubing over the bend
  2. In a one hour span a senko has been more productive for me than any other lure I have ever thrown.
  3. The stretch is going to be the most noticeable difference. Hated 10 and 12 pound on bottom presentations went to 16 pound and that is bearable. You might need a little more oomph on your hookset than what was needed with braid. You will work a little more getting the jig through weeds rocks stuff in the way as well.
  4. I have these they have caught me more crappie than bass though. 3/16 & 1/16 https://www.cabelas.com/product/RAPALA-UL-RIPPINRAP/1837276.uts
  5. Yes you should This 5 pounder with a Mepps Black Fury on an 8' Avid ML/Mod rod 8# nanofil, awesome rod.
  6. I know for a fact my 5 largest crappie have been caught while bass fishing. All of them caught with 1/2oz lipless cranks. When I do target crappie with smaller cranks or 2"-2 1/2" paddeltails or minnows they are never quite as big.
  7. The most highly touted rod for sensitivity out right now is 7'5" long, NRX895, go figure. Purest say the ned rig is a no feel presentation sensitivity of the rod isnt of high importance.
  8. Switch is off here too favorite lake had algae bloom ruined the visibility and the bite for over a month now. July was fantastic then click shutdown. Went by lake and starting to clear again.
  9. YGK G soul x8 green hits all those marks and for ect. such as resistance to wind knots its extremely good.
  10. You wont see any improvement going from XT to stradic I have both and actually dont see any benefit to either of them over my $60 Daiwa RG-AB. They dont cast farther arent any smoother dont have any better line management. Id say stay at or under $100 for a spinning reel cause even doubling that price wont get you but menial improvement. The $100 saved would go better towards rod budget.
  11. Not about grams but more so the effort to hold the rod in position. There are many times with many different lures where you will remain motionless. If say a jig/senko/ika/ned rig is on the bottom and you want it to rest for 20 seconds or so, with just a smidgen bit of tautness on the line, on a tip heavy rod your grip has to be increased much more than balance set-up. This increases fatigue at the end of a 10 hour day. On better balanced rod less grip pressure also let you concentrate on the subtle motions down below.
  12. Ive had a World Class rod now for a few years with the 3m nano resin.
  13. I have nothing against the company or person Trey first product from them. But this particular product that I paid for in my opinion isnt worth what I paid in comparison to what other products I have purchased at that price or lesser price. I dont have a bias otherwise I wouldnt have made the purchase I would have purchased what I was bias towards. I use a wide range of rod brands Quantum Croix Loomis Okuma Shimano 13Fishing Fenwick Falcon Abu others bias isnt a factor. I guess Ive been spoiled by 7' rods that weigh less balance better with light reels that have straight guides and better fit between the handle grip and reel seat transition than this H3. This H3 isnt the only product that has disappointed me its added to the list of others Shimano Cumara, Omen Black, Croix LTB, Veritas all duds IMO.
  14. If thats how you set up your shimanos you are doing that wrong as well unless you are a beginner and dont have thumb control yet. I go from a ned rig to whopper plopper never adjusting the spool tension. Keep just minimal side play. If no side play thats too tight slow fall is too tight. As goes the SV spool there really isnt any special thing about the spool itself. The braking profile spring inductor is what the SV is mostly about. The braking come on quicker for more control which gives many people the false impression that their skills are better.
  15. Kistler is WAY overrated. Wont be buying another even at 50% off. I have 7'3" LMH and no way would I say its super light weight. Balance is not very good on it either. This makes for not that great ergo while holding it. Craftsmanship is subpar for a $300 rod to boot. I would rather have another first gen 7' M/F Quantum Smoke rod mine fishes better than the Kistler. I bought it April my newest rod you would think it would be getting lots of use but havent even used it the past few weeks over 100 hours of fishing time combined. Very much regret buying it and I got it on sale like $213 and thats over priced.
  16. With x-0rings and mend-it 10-15-20+ bass. There are those times it gets flung off after one bass but but if I see a slight tear starting I put it away and fix it use it over and over.
  17. Look to get TROKAR hooks for the presentations that you use. The sharpness makes a big difference on ease of hookset compared to most other hooks.
  18. 832 is on the noisier side of braids. Not as bad as 20# sufix performance though thats a buzzsaw. PowerPro super slick is one of the quietest much more quiet than 832 and 20# vs 20# holds higher knot strength than 832.
  19. The biggest selling point of the core is its light weight. If a very light reel isnt a necessity there are better performing less $$ options. Scorp DC gets my vote.
  20. No havent used the powell rods. Surprising the heavy Helios is whippy I have medium and medium heavy and they are not whippy at all. I throw over 1ounce lures on the MH.
  21. I have multiple issues with the last 2 daiwa baitcasters I have purchased so it will be some time before they get me a third time. Shimano bc reels have been spot on so most likely continue with them. Spinning reels is just the opposite more likely to buy daiwa over shimano.
  22. Powell endurance. https://www.powellco.com/Endurance-Series-rods. Man sure would like to find gen 1 smoke rods favorite rods I own.
  23. Sleeper has been slaying them for me the past 6 outings eyes fell off after about 8 fish the first outing. So no eyes doesnt seem to be an issue with its fish attracting abilities. The hooks arent the sharpest had to touch up a few points a bit myself on a few.
