  17. The wife and I skipped up the the BEAUTIFUL Ozark mountains of Arkansas over the weekend for some frigid fishing. Friday was not too bad, after the rains stopped in the morning,as the temps were in the 30's(over freezing) and not much wind. We ended up catching a total of 7 browns and a couple dozen rainbows. Saturday was a different story, with the overnight low of 7, we started fishing with a grand temp of 16. Factor in the windchill of being on the river and it was -3. Coldest I have ever fished! We had another good day landing another 7 browns, with not as many rainbows as the day before, but still a good number. Sunday we woke to about the same temperatures, but no wind, so this morning it was 17 when we started, and warmed right up to 28 by mid day. Today was considerably tougher, as we experienced a shad kill. Normally this would have been lights out, but the shad kill actually started around 8:30 last night, and as you could imagine, the fish were full by 8 am when we got out on the water. We caught 9 rainbows today with no browns, but overall it was a great trip! And now for a couple pictures..... Where we stayed And our view..... Now if those arent some of the prettiest freshwater fish, I don't know what are? (pumpkinseed maybe, but Ill take German Browns!!!)
  18. Yea, I have only had one bad knot experience, but it cost me dearly! Therefore, if at all possible I just use line to lure! Jeff

  24. With the price of high end lines running skyward more and more, does anyone use a line counter when spooling their reels to avoid using too much of that costly line, and therefore maximizing their purchase. Say you buy a spool of Brand X braid that is $35 for 200 yrds. You mess up and put 120 yrd on one spool and are left with only 80 yrd. If you had a line counter, you would be able to split it equally EVERY time! Jeff PS> If you do use one, which one and how do you like it?
  25. I watched a show on tv the other day in which Shaw Grigsby took a double amputee Marine who had served 3 tours out fishing for 2 days on a show called "Ultimate fishing experience". Shaw let him drive his boat, was VERY patient with him in every aspect, and you could see it in his eyes when the marine caught fish! He sat and talked to him more than he fished and you could tell he really genuinely cared. Shaw is my new favorite angler!! The show was VERY touching to me, and moved me to realize things that we take for granted could be gone in an instant! So to you guys who are hating on Shaw, I challenge you to look this show up(episdoe specific) and tell me it isn't one of the best fishing shows you have ever seen! Jeff
