  1. Zillion or Sol, depends of what you want it for.
  2. It is perfect for small and medium cranks and jerks
  3. I did too, great info and they give you support over the phone.
  4. For me too. I don't use any fluoro on spinnings, rather go with braid and fluoro leader.
  5. I would consider the Okuma MH 7.6
  6. For those reels you need to change the handle first, they have it in many JDM online stores. This guy from NY doesn't charge you S&H and is very reliable. http://www.brooklynbillstackleshop.com/ The cork knobs are compressed cork, the cheapest are found at TW.They are lighter than rubber http://www.***.com/descpageACCDAIWA-DICC.html You still will need the bearings, 2 or 4 according to model. http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PROD/674ZZ You should also search ebay for better pricing.
  7. Good luck with it....I love mine
  8. I found myself using less and less spinning tackle, right now down to one technique that I can't cast well with a baitcaster....drop shot.
  9. My definition is also around the world " Limited " with enhancement like " Custom ", " Tuned " and " Aftermarket "...not necessarily old or vintage.
  10. It is my favorite fluoro
  11. If I'm using a jig or any soft plastic my line is Sufix Braid and BPS XPS fluoro leader.
  12. The ones I have personal experience. Rods. Airrus, Okuma, GLoomis. Reels. Daiwa, Quantum, Shimano, Abu.
  13. It is the Daiwa version of a flipping switch, called Autocast® clutch.
  14. This is what Shimano recommend for the care of their reels. http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/customer_service0/reel_maintenance_instructions.download.-mainParsys-0001-downloadFile.html/Maintenance%20Tips-%20Baitcasting%20Reels%20(2%20pages).pdf I wouldn't put any kind of grease near the spool support bearings either. Nice pictures
  15. Missing Lucky Craft and Quantums
  16. Me too. I put them on a cleaning ultrasound at 50 F, most are done in 15 min......some have taken me up to 4 cycles.
  17. I have a great opinion of their swimbait rods, fly reels and customer service
  18. Neither of the two have bearings on the handle but they have 2 plastic bushings per knobs easily changeable to bearings and pretty inexpensive, I have the JDM version, worth every penny, best reel I ever used for deep cranking. Only the 50th and the PE special have full bearings supported knobs.
  19. Same for....after unhappiness with a few of them I found my best.
  20. Better????? It is personal, depend of how smooth you you want your reel to be. Number of bearings have no impact in casting, quality does. 4 of the bearings in the Revo are in the handle,...I think that bearings supported knobs are smoother. You will find the same features in the Calais and Calcutta CTE.
  21. DD you are in the wrong place for fly fishing.....this forum is excellent for bass fishing but not with a fly. I have been using fly equipment for over a year only. Some of your questions. 1. You need backing line, in most fresh water fishing just to fill up the spool, it make casting easier. Your reel should come with instruccion in the amount and size of the backing line. Any braid would do the job. 2. You need extra tippets, this is what connect the line to the fly through the leader. The leader has a tippet but you will run out of it changing flies and re tying. The size of the leader is the one of its tippet. For bass I use a 3x, for pan fish a 5x. 3. Tying the backing to the line can be done with you favorite line to line knot, I use uni-uni. Line to leader I use loops, it makes easier to change leaders without cutting line. Leader to tippet knot is necessary every time that you need to change tippet, uni-uni does it for me as well. Tippet to fly I use Rapala knot for most but there are others. I learned a lot ( and still are ) in this forum...all nice helpful people. http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/indexold.php. Good luck
  22. Grease in gear except on worm shaft, also in bearing except the spool support ones.
