  1. With 1/4 the reel works fine, lower than that get in trouble without upgrade.
  2. I can't say much about the Loomis, it is probably a good choice. I have the Okuma 7.6 MH with the same rating, great rod for up to 3 oz, the tip in my opinion is too soft for bigger lures. It has been performing great for the 2+ year I have it. I did brake it once ( my fault ) and I have a new one on my door ( no quetions asked ) withing a week for $ 14.99. I have it paired with a tuned Cardiff 201.
  3. It wil do the job but I use the super sensitivity of the GLX for jigs and soft plastics like others have indicated
  4. I also like faster reel for lipless cranks. Best slower reel out there is the Zillion Crazy Cranker.
  5. Same here. Yo save close to 2 oz on weight and perfect performance....and I don't give a crap about breaking the bank with fishing reels.
  6. All I can tell you.......GREAT SWIMBAITS RODS !!!!!!!!!!
  7. I fish tournaments, so I change it once a year, I also put new leader for outing
  8. I just love to expend money on good, limited tackle. The part of getting fish with them ,.....it is my part but the pleasure of fishing with them ( specially if I have modified them ) !!!!!!!that one has not a description, price or messuring pleasure.
  9. In bass fishing, rouds reel are prefered due to their line capacity, specially for swimbaits. A Shimano cardiff 300/301 carry more line than the Curado 300/301 and weights 2 oz less.
  10. To the original question.....I'm E-21 with Alpha -R ( they are under the Santa thing already )
  11. I also highly recommend that rod. Great warranty and perfect for the Lunker Punker or any swimbait up to 3.5-4 oz.
  12. New top guide is like $ 2.00 including labor.
  13. Pointer 65 River2Sea Spirit 65
  14. Same. Spinning, baitcaster, fly gear....no difference.
  15. I would also try Daiwa first. If this doesn't work contact Calfish at the Tackle Tour forum. http://www.tackletour.net/TTForums/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=30252&st=0&sk=t&sd=a He does a fantastic job at a decent price. Good luck, your reel deserve.
  16. The Zillion has one bearing in the palm side ( right at the center of the magnet ) and one at the spool itself behing the pin. Those are the ones that you should put a drop of the oil that comes with the reel. According to Daiwa after every outing, I think this is overkill.
  17. I take the reels apart, clean and lube and then store them on their boxes inside of a plastic bag. Except for a couple of combos that a keep ready to go at all times.
  18. That is the only line I use on them
  19. Simple Green diluted 1:10 for everything but bearings. I clean then with industrial acetone, nafta and pure alcohol work well too.
  20. In my boat, 3 swimbaits combos and another 6-10. In someone else's, 6 combos.
  21. I love my Cardiffs, there is not a lighter round reel in the market.
