  1. I use P-Line Evolution 15-25 lbs, according to lure's weight but my heaviest is 6 oz.
  2. The best fluoro I've tried is BPS XPS
  3. I don't know the particular rod you are looking at but I have a couple of Helium LTAs, one of them broke ( my mistake ) about six months after I bought it and the company replaced w/o problems, I don't remember the cost. St Croix warranty in excellent too, they raplaced one of my fly rods pretty quickly.
  4. Revo SX or Daiwa TD Advantage 153HST
  5. I hope it is soon......That book is the best piece of information in reel's mechanics that I've ever read, live on my bench.
  6. I have been using one for big swimbaits for the last couple of years, I'm very satisfied and it looks like new
  7. I prefer, and by far a cranking rod, for me Loomis CBR 845, for big spinnerbaits and all my buzzbaits.
  8. I have only one use for round reels....swimbaits
  9. Zillion Crazy Cranker.....it doesn't get better.
  10. Sufix is all the braid I use
  11. Positive. Much better line guides Negative. I hate cork
  12. 4 of them are in the handle, 2 per knobs, if you look carefully you will find the other 6.
  13. I use braid/leader a lot and the Crawford knot had never given me any trouble, now I use it for everything even to tie fly leader and flys. http://www.stripersurf.com/knot_terminal.html Simple and strong
  14. I used Quantums for many year and never had a problem, my only complain was always their weight.
  15. My Alpha Ito with a BCR 803 GLX is waiting for me under 50' of water. :'(
  16. I believe that there are 2 bearings on the handle knobs
  17. It comes to whether you want to take apart your reel every time you change your settings or not......the STX also carry 4 bearings on the handle......
  18. P-Line Evolution on 20-25 lbs works best for me. I don't like braid with SB
  19. Love to see myself on the minority twice........
  20. From NJ.....yes E21 and 357 Mag......
  21. The Tour is a good, solid reel but heavy, you will get the BS Shimano/Daiwa comparison but it is a well made reel that will last you forever. Compared to the old standard it is a higher speed at 28 ipt but not a match to the Revo or Zillion retrieve of today. Anyway....enjoy it!!!!!!!
  22. I use the Cardiff 201 and 301 for SB. I will not cast a 5 oz lure with less than 25 lbs line, so the 201 is out of picture. For that size lure you need a SB rod capable of handling it and long enough to cast it far, something around 8 '.
