  2. Zillion, Carrot Stick or Powell
  3. I have been using U-40 on all my cork handle rods for several years, great porduct. http://www.cabelas.com/link-12/product/0017532316474a.shtml
  4. How about a Zillion rod ? I just took mine out for the first time on Christmas day and I'm in love with it......great look too.
  5. For me. Baitcasters LP: High end Daiwas. Baitcasters Round: Shimano Cardiff. Spinning: Shimano Stradic
  6. With you, it hasn't been a trip than I haven't take mine since I got it.
  7. The 300. I have both, the 201 and 301.
  8. Same here....also a Sufix user. After 2-3 season I inverte it so I have fresh line again
  9. Very strong reel, Quantum customer service is excellent. Good luck with it
  10. I got one at the time that there was no many alternative in a low speed lefty reels, it is heavy and voluminous ( larger than most baitcasters ). Fish deep cranks with it for 3 years, one trip to Tica b/c the side plate got jammed and received good and rapid service. Sold it a while ago and as far as I know is still working.
  11. Oiled bearing clean in 15-20 min of submersion in Nafta, Acetone or Absolute Alcohol ( or Reel Scrubber, but it is expensive ), stirring or better shacking them in a covered container helps. Greased bearing may take 24 h or more. Change the solvent solution if becomes turbid and until clear. Before they dry should be flush with air compressed, specially Nafta that has residual when it drys. You can let then sit or dry them with a hair dryer. Apply oil to the spool support bearing ( one drop ) Grease to the frame bearing and either to the handle bearing if any ( personal preference ). Very good info in this article. http://www.tackletour.com/articlebearings201.html
  12. I just got mine....worth every penny
  13. Close to the same. Twitching bar goes on my list of " things that get on the way ", a reason I sold my Viento. Flipping switch.....If you you do a lot of true flipping ( I don't ) I guess may have some use, I had it in 2 Accurists and I don't remember touching it much.
  14. I guess you didn't bother to read through the referenced thread I posted on page 1: Re: Why is the reel handle on the right Reply #15 - Aug 22nd 2007 at 11:37:12 By George Welcome Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand. eh.....To me it sounds like they are just trying to justify a bad habit.... ;D ;D Totally with you.....love the Scranton area
  15. Quantums in general are strong and reliable, for me they weight a bit too much but I fished with them for many year without any problems until my casting arm needed something lighter.
  16. I even like better the 50th. It is phenomenal, it cast as good as an Steez or Alpha
  17. Very good post Ghoti. I don't do every thing you said or in the same way but I found it very informative. Thanks
  18. I'm a P-line user but I've tried the cheaper BPS-XPS with out any problems. Currently for leaders I go P-line and for full spool I take BPS. Since I found the Crawford knot I haven't use the Uni. http://www.stripersurf.com/knot_terminal.html
  19. Same....line type or brand comes secondary, and not, you don't have buy Yo-Zuri or P-line
  20. I use the 7.6 MH for anything less than 3 oz ( with Cardiff 301 ), I don't feel that the road outload heavier weight well. Now when you move to the 7.11 the difference on size handle is huge. After trying for a while I moved to Powell for the EH weight.
  21. Not knowing the actions of your rods make it difficult to give you an opnion. For me too spinning gear means finesse; dropshot, small wacky, shakyhead and so, I don't own any heavier than M. Short rods ( 6.0 ) I use for techniques that require the tip to be at water level, jerkbaits, like has been said or high accuracy, skipping. Hope its help
