  1. Imagine bringing in 30 pounds and getting beat by almost NINETEEN POUNDS!! That's what happened to the second place team.
  2. Doesn't look very promising. The boat went through the dam, hopefully they didn't as well.
  3. I was wondering how someone got a picture of my backyard ?‍♂️
  4. Yeah, I missed that part. I have to drive to KU Med when I'm on hospital duty for work sometimes. You're not making that in 25 minutes from Gardner. Shawnee would be my pick. Traffic just seems so much worse if you cross state lines. You can find somewhere with fairly quick access to 435 and north of 75th street will put you past where the congestion on the interstate gets the worst and you'll be able to get to KU in less than 25 minutes no problem. You'll be a little further drive to any bodies of water without buying a special permit, but there really isn't anywhere within 25 minutes of KU you can make that happen. You might be able to find something in Overland Park or Olathe that fits your guidelines, but it's going to be tough, everything just gets more expensive as you head south into JOCO it seems until you hit Gardner. Not all the bells and whistles here yet, so things aren't quite as expensive yet. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5412-Millridge-St-Shawnee-KS-66226/75539963_zpid/
  5. Tie direct, palomar. One of the only types of topwater I don't use braid for. 15lb mono or copolymer is my choice for baits with a double prop.
  6. I have 20lb on one or two baitcasters that I use for making long cast with topwaters. I wouldn't go that light if you're using Smackdown though, that stuff is super thin.
  7. I use 1 anchor and on an anchor trolley. I've found and old window weight makes a great yak anchor.
  8. A #0 on a 1/16oz ball head with a 1.5" black and chartreuse crappie tube is a real catch anything bait that I use to fish all the time and still do on occasion.
  9. bladed jigs and spinnerbaits are always in my "ice out" arsenal.
  10. Again yes, and don't even think about taking the skirt off a bladed jig and fishing it naked with a paddletail for a smaller profile or on pressured fish
  11. One of my favorite bladed jig trailers. I'm down to only about 18 bags from over 30 2 seasons ago, starting to get nervous.
  12. We'd worked the area over pretty well by the time we left. I was hoping my backseater would get a fish or two before we took off but they were really keyed on that Frittsider for some reason, he couldn't get them to eat a similar colored Flat-A all day. I had to go back and look because I noticed the black spot on that fish, I thought maybe I'd caught her before, but maybe it was her sister?
  13. Yes, jigworms and craws have been a thing for long time. It works great for skipping docks with a beaver.
  14. I thought catching 4 in less than 5 minutes from a notoriously difficult lake was certainly figuring something out, but I must have violated his unwritten rules for fun fishing. Obviously doesn't watch any of my videos either. I don't try to hide them from in those, and he'd know I don't just fish the ramp then. I have a theory that maybe someone is discounting my catches to try to make a lack of their own catches, just a theory.
  15. Nobody gives permission to fish their ponds around here, too big of a liability.
  16. You could be my neighbor, they're moving soon, and they have a 3 car garage so you'd have a spot to park a boat ? I have 5 productive bodies of water within 20 minutes, more if I buy a JOCO permit. Western Wyandotte county isn't bad, I'd just stay west of I-435. You can find some pretty good deals in Shawnee right now, but you can find a lot of houses with problems and there's some not so great parts too.
  17. I use a H2O Ethos for my spinning jerkbait rod. 6' 8" M/F, but feels more M/MF to me. Fishes jerkbaits great, has for years. I paid $30 for it.
  18. Didn't like the Stratic, have 2 Tatulas now, a 2500 and 3000CXH.
  19. Snot and slime are what it's called here and this is the time of year for it. Suspending jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, and float and fly are the best options in the cold water months.
  20. You want the regular Pointer 100 with 2 hooks. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lucky_Craft_Pointer_Minnow_Jerkbaits/descpage-LCPT.html
  21. Havoc Devil's Spear Pit Boss in Sapphire Blue and Lime-Purple Passion
  22. I very rarely bed fish knowingly. A spinnerbait gets a lot of work for me in the spring, white war eagle with hammered gold double willowleafs.
  23. Couldn't ever find one that I really liked, so I made one.
  24. I like the 3.8 and 4.8 Fat Impact type swimbait trailers. Mainly use the ones from Lake Champlain lures for trailers since they're more durable and cheaper than Keitechs.
