  1. Use to be a St. Croix 7' MH Pro Glass. Broke it a few years ago and been getting by with a Quantum KVD crankbait rod that does pretty well. Now I stepped up to a St. Croix Legend Glass 6' 10" MH that I'm really liking so far. Most of my cranking is shorter cast with squarebills and shallow to mid range baits, and this rod does that perfectly.
  2. Not really a mispronunciation, but tons of people here call every kind of bluegill or sunfish a "perch" ? I hate it with all my being, but it does no good to correct them. Meanwhile, if they caught an actual perch (which there are very few of here), they'd probably have no idea what they were looking at.
  3. I've been lucky, 13 years and haven't tased anyone yet. I've always been more of a hands on type of guy myself. I've enjoyed the taser experience myself, although "enjoyed", probably isn't the right word. Have seen many other people take the ride. Always satisfying when it gets a good connection and locks someone up completely, probably because I know how freaking bad it hurts for those few moments and how they're reconsidering life choices while they have no control over a portion of their body at the moment.
  4. 10lb braid to 8lb Tatsu leader, same as last year.
  5. I pour my own that is very similar so I can do my own hook choice and color patterns. I like a YUM Craw Papi for a trailer.
  6. Tons of them in the Missouri and Kansas rivers and all their creeks up to the reservoir dams. They don't seem to have had the same effect on the rivers here as they have in other places, still plenty of game fish after them being here well over a decade. They've become a preferred prey item for most everything that lives in the river, especially the big catfish that can eat them up to and a little over 10 pounds in size. They still jump too, I enjoy bowfishing for them and attempting to shoot them out of the air.
  7. That color goes by many names. Tom named one potential option, Sand and Golden Shiner are a couple others you might check.
  8. No, just one of the only pictures I could find of one.
  9. These are the people I deal with every day. I don't tell a lot of stories to people who don't work in LE or some kind of First Responder job, because most don't believe me ? I have to admit, a lot of it is hard to believe while I'm watching it happen.
  10. It's a Renegade Dancing Crankbait. Don't believe they're made anymore but Wal-Mart use to sell them.
  11. Spoons are a very easy lure to make out of most any kind of metal. I'm guessing that's likely what you've found.
  12. 52* when I got off work at 0600 this morning. Walked in the door at 0615 and Lake was stumbling down the hallway. I'd already been thinking it, so I tossed out "Hey buddy, want to go fishing?" He smiled a sleepy grin and nodded his head, got permission from momma, on the water by 0700, he caught the first fish on his second cast with a float-n-fly. We ended up with 15 in the boat, the biggest a crawdad short of 4 pounds that engulfed my 6th Sense Provoke. Water was 39-41, had to barely move it and wait them out, no bites, they were just there when I moved it next time. Lots of other boats on the little puddle. Had a great time with my little buddy ?
  13. When I'm talking about a Trap or a Jerk, it's not what most folks are thinking.
  14. How do you like the Arashi? I just got one a couple weeks ago but haven't tossed it yet, same color and everything.
  15. They work, but don't buy the 2" version. Get at least the 3", 4" is the best one though. They just balance better, and therefore swim better. I've caught a lot of fish on them, but have moved on to a little nicer, slightly more expensive offerings now.
  16. I wish I could market fishing for freshwater drum the same as saltwater guides do, I could quit my day job and guide for drum full time.
  17. 200B Curado is about as simple as it gets.
  18. I preheat mine in the toaster oven. Have to use gloves to dip them is the downside but it gets the best coat imo.
  19. I've had thin weeds and moss get stuck and twisted in the joint, but I don't know what else I'd expect fishing a treble hooked bait with a rotating tail section around weeds like that? If I really want to avoid it, I switch to a Toadrunner.
  20. Redbug is one of my favorite plastic colors. I do pretty alright with red traps, cranks, even bladed jigs. Red has been the best producing color hands down the last 3 weeks for me.
  21. Haven't had the same issue, but if I was, I'd contact Owner or return where I bought them.
  22. Don't target the bass you can see. For every bass you can see, there's probably 10 more you can't that are much more catchable. This is a mistake anglers make during spawning times too, getting wrapped up fishing for those few fish on beds when there's hundreds of fish not on beds that are much more cooperative. Prespawn is some of the best fishing of the year, especially for big fish, but targeting cruisers is rarely a good way to get a consistent bite.
  23. I fish them in fast water for white bass and wipers. Not a bait I fish for bass really anymore with all the better options out there.
  24. I'm hoping to find another one soon. I lost mine to a weak spot in my anchor rope and some sticky pond mud. Using a 10lb dumbell now, which also makes a pretty fair kayak anchor.
