  1. Send it to be professionally serviced if you're down for the winter. Learning how to service a reel on your only baitcaster is a recipe for disaster.
  2. None of the DSG around here stock ANY fishing gear ?‍♂️
  3. Anyone fished one? Seems like a nice reel and found some for a steal compared to regular price. They're the 2018 model if it makes a difference.
  4. This is the website I upload my pics to before posting. It's a very easy, just copy and paste the link. https://imgbb.com/ You don't ever see any cold water down there either to have any experience with it. Those Florida fish usually seem to be much darker colored than fish about everywhere else with all the vegetation and tannic water.
  5. I like to fish the areas that the deep water comes near the shore and make cast parallel to the shoreline with a suspending jerkbait and fish it along slowly. Slowly bumping a shad rap along the edge of the drop can be good too. Dragging a shakyhead or tube perpendicular up the drops is good when the fish are pinned to the bottom.
  6. Welcome! I agree with A-jay. Learn the gear you have and see what you like/dislike about it and where you feel you're lacking before trying to fill gaps that may not exist.
  7. Anyone see any deals on Tatula Spinning reels anywhere?
  8. Those Revros are a super nice value reel. Always been a big fan of the President but I've got 3 Revros now and if they can last the same, they'll be my favorite of the 2.
  9. Looks like it came out of cold, muddy water to me. It's 100% a largemouth bass though.
  10. I have one on one of their swimbait rods. It's a good reel that's built like a tank. My only thing that's a con, it's not a quiet reel when casting. If you've ever fished an older Abu round reel that has the levelwind that moves back and forth during the cast like it does during the retrieve, this reel does the same thing and makes a similar noise. Does nothing to effect the function of the reel and it's been a beast of a swimbait and A-rig reel for me, but I know little things like that bug some people so thought it would be worth mentioning.
  11. Table Rock in April can be a blast. We had our club Classic there a couple years ago end of March/beginning of April and won it throwing underspins and jerkbaits with low 30's for 2 day total and BB for both days over 4. Big fish live there, you just have to fish for them differently a lot of the time. We fished around KC and Aunt's Creek areas.
  12. A couple of my finesse football jigs finished. Next round I used neck down pins instead of full sized brush guard pins and turned out better. I thought I'd done gone and caught a new PB my first time out with them Monday. Would have been if it'd been the right brand. Almost the same spot I'd caught my 7.5 nearly 2 years ago and very near where the lake record and another DD bass were caught 3 years ago. To say it had my hopes up for a minute would be an understatement.
  13. Me to my paypal account now that the Black Friday sales have started; 2 Tatula SVs, a St. Croix Glass, and 2 Falcon Bucoo SRs, ouch. Nearly $300 less that I would have paid full price between them all though, so there's that I guess.
  14. I've got a pair of Fisch 580G. They're nice for those of us with plus sized melons.
  15. Big fan of the Bubble Walker 80. Cast like a bullet and fishes very easily. It's what I fished most of the day in this video and had a good day on a pretty infamously tough lake.
  16. I tried to go catch bass Monday, and I had a feeling it would be tough because it was supposed to be a little too nice. Turned out I had a hard time getting my bait past everything else to the bass. I've caught a lot of flatheads while bass fishing, but never seen one choke a trap being burned over shallow riprap like this one did to me. Probably what he thought he was getting, off the same bank a few cast prior. Only crankbait fish of the day. These guys were everywhere. Testing out my new homemade finesse football jigs and got thumped dragging it through the same tree I caught my 7.5 pounder out of a couple years ago and man did I think I'd gotten a hold of the fish I'd been looking for for a few seconds. It was the right size, 10.21 pounds, just the wrong flavor. It had a BIG tail sticking out of it's throat, and it's stomach showed it was clearly eating good. I did catch a bunch of bass, but they were tiny for some reason. My normal big fish lake kicked about over 2 dozen bass and fewer than a half dozen were over a pound. I was catching them so fast at one spot, a couple guys asked if I was catching crappie. This was my big fish of the day I caught pitching to a standing tree on top of a rock slide, which is a very unusual way to get bit there.
  17. I've seen them thrown a half dozen times and haven't seen a fish caught on one yet while mine were catching fish ?‍♂️ Not a chance I'm spending $15 on a bladed jig when I can make one for around $2 that works great and comes in any color combination I want with a wire tired skirt.
  18. I change mine out when they get low and need refilled, if the line is damaged and needs replaced, or if I need a different type/size line for something.
  19. I've only ever bought 1, didn't impress me enough to buy another. Nothing wrong with them, just never felt like I couldn't catch just as many fish on a cheaper bait.
  20. I hope to be never have to do that again, it's a bad feeling.
  21. They work well, they're pricey and got phased out of my lineup when I pared stuff down.
  22. The waking Bio gill is a great bait and super easy to fish.
  23. Check out the Fishlab Bio gill as another good option for an inexpensive bluegill bait. Yes it's more expensive than the H2O but much better IMO.
