T-rigging finesse worms, trick worms, smaller creature baits (smallie beavers and the like), small craw baits. I use a 2/0 fairly often.

I've seen the bass on Bull be almost suicidal, eating anything you put in front of them. I've also seen them be next to impossible to catch. It's an excellent lake that I enjoy fishing either way.

I do it with mine occasionally, minor annoyance and I notice it pretty quickly and adjust it back.

They had a $20K goal set, and met it in just over 24 hours. They're "Way ahead of schedule", but I don't know if that means the reels will be released any earlier or not. I'm planning on using it for buzzbaits, and that time is unfortunately about done for the season so I'm not in any hurry.

Muskie bucktails are going to have way bigger blades than a bass spinnerbait. A 400 is a huge reel built to handle a lot more load/torque though, possibly why it's easy despite the high gear ratio. Most of my spinnerbaits are 1/2oz or larger, up to 1oz and I often put a big trailer on those big baits, pushing them up around the 1.5oz range. I use a Tatula 150 for my spinnerbaits.

It's easier to know a lot of what "should" be working or going on while you're on the water, but how often do we get out there and for some reason they're not following the program at all? The basics and even some of the advanced stuff is for sure easier to pick up with the way technology is now, but you can still only learn so much staring at a computer screen. That doesn't teach decision making, it doesn't teach patience, it doesn't teach the casting accuracy, how to skip, boat control, ect.

My BIL caught 2 of his muskie our last trip out there on a buzzbait. They're so much fun!

I got one. Don't need one, but figured I'd give it a try at that price. As much as I throw one, I need to upgrade my buzzbait setup anyways.

Life got in the way of fishing this weekend except for a few cold, windy hours on a local lake yesterday. Caught them doing my favorite thing, cranking a DT6 ? First one was about my normal cranking fish. Second fish was a bit more like it.

The Astros are the better club I think and they can really feed off each other if they get hot.

Olathe was a grind for numbers but the quality was good again yesterday. DT6 was the only thing I could get them to eat.

Crankbaits are far from my favorite way to fish, but I'm well aware of their effectiveness at times. It was the ONLY thing they'd eat yesterday.

I've caught some a little smaller, but this one is right up there. That's a 1 3/4" KVD 1.0 crankbait for scale.

The old Pro Glass rods were excellent cranking rods. I owned a couple of them and wish I still had them but both suffered untimely ends. I don't know that I'd want to use one for rip baits (jerkbaits I'm assuming) as they're fairly heavy and it could be kind of fatiguing to do it for long with one. They weren't great for deep runners either. Their wheelhouse was really the squarebill baits to baits that ran to around 10-12 feet.

I had the same bright yellow Eagle Claw "Featherlite" with a 1000 Shimano TX I believe. I still have my first "nice" baitcasting rod I ever bought, a 7' M/F St. Croix Premier. I've replaced 2 guides and the tip top guide but it's still hanging in there. I was 16 when I bought it so it's getting up close to 20 years of service.

A clown colored Smithwick Rogue is pretty tough to beat in stained water and won't break the bank.

Grey a majority of the time but also wear blue mirror or amber at times.

Not a fan. The points cut plastics up badly, getting shorter life out of baits. Also had a lot of issue with them cutting through plastics so easily that it's almost impossible to hide a hook point in a bait, resulting in more snags. They also seem to slice a larger hole in the fish's mouth if you hook them in the softer parts of the jaw, which can result in lost fish. The points don't seem to last long either. I bought a couple hundred jig hooks with high hopes for them but was very underwhelmed by them.

They had a resurrection for me this year too, especially when I was taking my son to the creeks fishing for whatever would bite.

I had some mandatory yearly training yesterday and wore my same BDU pants I wore in the academy and had room to spare, that was a good feeling.
