  1. I've got Tat SV and Zillion SV, best skipping reels I've ever owned and it's not even close.
  2. Yep, the 50 and 70 sized Shimano baitcasters are too small and uncomfortable in my hands. Abu Revos are uncomfortable in my hands. I've had rods that pushed or rubbed on spots on my fingers or hands that made me get rid of them. I also dislike cork because it dries my hands out terribly bad for some reason.
  3. I've got the 3.75" Baby Bull Shad in bone color, it swims really nice. The smallmouth and white bass love it.
  4. I use the 3.8 and 4.8 sizes all the time on a 3/8oz bladed jig.
  5. It's going to get used on my johnboat as a phone charger/power source, kayak to run my Virb, and towards the end of next month on a camping trip to power electronics for our kids while we're in the tent. My sons think it's really neat because of the bright lights on front of it.
  6. Some died instantly, but others suffered multiple attacks before they succumbed to their injuries. All died bravely in combat though.
  7. Absolutely, one of my favorite jig trailers and a great flipping/punching bait as well. The bottom of my johnboat is littered with dead Christie craws from my last 2 night fishing excursions ?
  8. 6lb mono needs a drag that is much more carefully set than 30lb braid does. For frog fishing you want the drag set tight enough that it doesn't slip on the hookset though. Sounds like the rod/reel/and line should be sufficient for frogging, so that brings me back to the hookset. Cross their eyes. You have to drive a thick hook, hopefully into some thick lips, in thick cover, it requires a good deal of force to do so. Bug Spray can repel fish if it contains DEET. I don't know about effecting the integrity of the line, but I try to avoid spraying the stuff so it settles on any of my gear.
  9. Okay.. Is that spinning? Casting? Length? Power? That line should work fine. My initial thought is you say you "don't pull too hard". With frogs, you have to drive a big hook into a potentially hard part of a fish's mouth, so a hard hookset is necessary. I crank my drag down pretty hard and really swing hard on them when a fish blows up on my frog. Second thing, and there's 2 camps on this, after the blow up. I'm a "If I can't see my frog, I'm swinging", guy. Fish don't have hands, if they blow up on the frog and it's not there anymore, there's really only a couple places it could be and if I take the time to feel for them it just gives them time to spit my frog or bury further into the grass. If you decide you want to feel for them, just make sure you're quick but don't pull too hard because they'll spit a frog easier than other baits it seems like.
  10. I don't think I'll ever get in A-Jay shape, but I've taken some big steps the past few months. Volunteered and got selected for a weight loss program through my work. Started out with a pretty attainable goal of 200lbs. I was 235lbs when I started, right about the heaviest I've ever been. I'm still almost 20lbs overweight by the programs standards, although I think that seems pretty low, I'm going to keep pushing and see where it takes me.
  11. Mine isn't as pretty as the one in the instructional video, but I finally built my kayak/camping power box today! Everything even works on it ?
  12. Sure! I've got this awesome pond, loaded with big ones, but there's a fence you have to climb over. Water kind of smells bad too. They also post these signs to try to keep you out but this is how you know the big ones live there!
  13. Describe the gear you're using, rod/reel/line. Frogs are one bait that really helps to have the correct combo to fish them on.
  14. If you like big, fat straight tail worms but don't like the price that everyone ask for them, YUM is here to help! I love their color selection, and $3 for a 7 pack of 8" fat straight tail worms, can't beat that! Really excited that they're offering other baits in 30 packs now. Got 2 30 packs of Christie Craws in my TW order today, only $10 a pack too! I'll have to take pictures of the rest of the order, mostly plastics. My orders aren't usually real exciting with my disdain for crankbaits and everything ?
  15. Bull Shads aren't pretty baits, but they're very effective. I've got a few in different sizes and sink rates, worth every penny IMO.
  16. I have a lot of 3/8 and 1/2 but also make my own in 5/8, 3/4, and 1oz. A trailer will add weight, but it also adds bulk and lift, making it harder to get a bait to run deeper if that's the goal.
  17. That looks like a blast. I need to get my boys out and do it.
  18. I've got a lot of buddies that fish for flatheads and blues, bass are just another baitfish to them. Others that fish for walleye, white bass, wipers, and crappie a majority of the time call largemouth "green carp". Crappie guys at one of the popular smallmouth reservoirs blame the smallmouth for the crash in the crappie population, despite them being a known cyclical fish. What's also funny is when the crappie were booming, everybody and their brother was on the lake, shoulder to shoulder and bow to stearn on the water, loading livewells, buckets, stringers, whatever they could get full of big, spawning crappie. Who knows how many thousands of crappie were prevented from reproducing, but now they're blaming the smallmouth for why there's suddenly far fewer crappie ?‍♂️
  19. I use a 1/4oz almost exclusively and I drag them slowly on the bottom.
  20. Welcome!
  21. I fish them on swinging football heads a ton. They're also a good jig trailer when they don't want a lot of action but want a lot of bulk. They work good on a shakyhead too, especially the smaller sizes.
  22. 100% out on that thing. Nothing much creepier than a big, nasty spider, fake or not.
