  1. If you ever end up in Kansas for some stupid reason, I'm always willing to show members exactly how bad the fishing really is here
  2. I love jerkbaits Lucky Craft Slender Pointer and Pointers Jackall Rerange Duo Realis 110, 120, and Rozante 77SP 6th Sense Provoke 106 Duel Hardcore Minnow Flat SP Strike King KVD 300 I really like the Duo Rozante 77SP. It's caught me a ton of fish the last few years, including my PB smallmouth last Friday.
  3. Welcome!
  4. I love night fishing and haven't got to do much of it with having a couple little ones at home and working nights. Only being home 2 nights a week, I feel bad asking to be gone one of those nights to be fishing too. Now that they're a little older and pretty reliable about sleeping through the night, I might be able to get back into it a little bit.
  5. Member @Goose52 I believe did a very detailed study on the $5 luggage scales and how deadly accurate they are. I've been using them for a few years now and they're very accurate and very consistent. I add grippers to ever one I've used.
  6. Doesn't even say what power the rod is on the website? Academy's website is probably one of the worst out there for big retailers unfortunately. I've had good luck with their gear, but I'd be pretty skeptical of a rod and reel combo for frogging for under $50 that includes line and 2 frogs. You can buy a pretty decent frogging combo for a reasonable price.
  7. You can ship a mold in a small flat rate box by taking the screws out of the handle, I've done it several times. This would be for molds you'd like to use, but don't use enough of to justify buying. For example, I have a big spinnerbait mold. If someone wants to make a couple dozen 3/4 and 1 ounce spinnerbaits, that's maybe enough to last them years, but certainly not enough to justify buying the mold. Or maybe someone just wants to try a mold to see if they like it before buying it.
  8. Those big fish get the frog way back in the soft skin and then pull so hard that it tears loose, at least that's my theory.
  9. Welcome!
  10. Headed to Table Rock next month with the family. Not sure how much fishing I'll get in but I'm taking the boat so I'm sure I'll get to do some. Always love getting to fish that lake, but it can sure humble you in a hurry. Thanks, I sure could have done without the added drama, there was plenty going on already with having a big smallmouth hooked on light line.
  11. I only own one Hammer rod but it's one of my favorite rods I own.
  12. Nope, my board only goes to 18". I'd guess in the neighborhood of 23" though, it was a really long fish.
  13. I use more than 2, but the main 2 are; poppers-6' 2" M/XF Walkers-6' 8" M/F both with 6 ratio reels and 20lb straight braid.
  14. There's been an explosion of orioles in our area it seems.
  15. Apparently a Sea Eagle, not sure if that's another name for a Bald Eagle, kind of hard to tell from the picture. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7014551/Photo-giant-bird-prey-lamb-claws-emerges-Scotland.html
  16. My parents are getting spoiled. and then you got this poor guy.
  17. There's a few that turn up on Google if you look. BPS and Cabela's would be my very last resorts. A buddy of mine had his done recently but can't remember the name, I'll try to remember to ask and post it up.
  18. That's a heavy wire hook, which isn't a good hook choice for a braid that light regardless. They're made to be used with heavy line and stout rods. The Skeet Reese version is much thinner wire and would be a better option for light line.
  19. We do this with local members in the KC area all the time. I have a couple I can't loan out but quite a few others that I have no issues with loaning. I think 30 days would probably be plenty long enough loan out time though.
  20. Really lucky he didn't get hooked to the fish.
  21. Recreate any of these with 12lb or lighter line and let me know how it works out. Every one was caught with at least 20lb test and I'm not sure they would have been caught without it. I have no issues fishing light line and actually really enjoy it, but if you think you don't need it in certain situations, you're lying to yourself. Not only are you doing a disservice to yourself if you fish light line in heavy cover, but the fish that is going to end up having to wear your bait after it breaks you off.
