Been some big boys hanging around out in the open lately when I get off work in the morning.

JIG head casting
It sets up really quickly, so it doesn't fill the mold out very well sometimes. It makes it harder to cut the excess off and smooth it out if you're going to go that far. I've also had issues with it occasionally disfiguring in the toaster oven when I'm baking the paint. I use a Hot Pot II, I imagine it would really be a bear with a spout pot. I still use it for certain things, I'm not passing up free lead.

I laughed when I saw it, but it's true, I know it's true, and it's not really funny at all.

Creature baits
The brush hog and baby brush hog are staples for me. I consider them in a different category from the beaver style baits because they have a completely different action and profile. The creature style baits I've had good success with in addition to the brush hogs are the Gene Larew HooDaddy, Culprit Incredibug, Keitech Crazy Flapper, YUM Christie Critter, Zman Boar HogZ, and Big Bite Baits Creature bait. For beaver baits I carry the Strike King Rodent, Big Bite Baits YoMomma, Havoc Pitboss, Yum Bad Mamma and YUM Wooly Bug. I mainly fish them on a T-rig, but the creature work well on C rig and swinging football head both, as well as a shakyhead. The beavers are good on a swing head or shakyhead also. I've done well dropshotting a tiny brush hog also.

There was a combined 7 takeaways, 3 defensive touchdowns, 7 sacks, and 7 punts caused by both defenses in MNF. I felt like both squads played pretty good defense considering the new rules and how high powered both offenses in the game were.- Wrong species new un official lake record
If you have any pictures without the anal fin covered it would be easy to tell. Blues have a straight fin, channels are rounded. If it was a channel, it could have beaten the state record as well since it's listed at 36.5lbs. This was a 40lb blue for size reference. This is a better view of what I mean by the straight fin. and the much more rounded fin of a channel cat.- JIG head casting
I've used some lead shot to pour some heads, it was pretty hard lead and tough to work with. Good for some heads like the herring head mold that has a problem with the blade wire pulling out of the head or smaller Midwest Finesse heads that the keepers fall out of sometimes.- Bull Shad/Bull Gill/ BBZ-1 Rat advice
6" BS is a good size, catches numbers and size. I can't get bit often on gill swimbaits, despite them being a major food item for our fish, so I haven't invested in a Bull Gill. Get the 50 size Spro. Morning dawn would be my color of choice for an all around color. It's a big enough bait they find it at night despite it being a light color.- Hello! I’m new. From Delaware

Big brownies are fish eaters. Jerkbaits seems to be one of their preferred targets. A Lucky Craft Slender Pointer has been a solid bait for me.- Spinnerbaits at night...
Lights aren't an option here unless you like being covered head to toe in bugs of every kind. It's really bad if you're sweating and they hit you and stick. Had a lot of hot nights bowfishing with the flood lights we'd be covered in bugs by the end of the night. I wear a strong clip on hat light for retying and unhooking fish and carry a spotlight for navigation with the outboard, otherwise it's lights out.- The Road To The Super Bowl 2019
I'll be routing for the Rams. I can't see there being any way that it doesn't end up being them or the Saints in the Super Bowl for the NFC. That Peters interception hurt. The guy needs to grow up sure, but I never understood the hate for him here but everyone is okay with Tyreek? Peters plays with passion and loses his cool and speaks his mind. I'd rather have a guy playing with fire than someone just going through the motions. Donald is a force of nature, a one man wrecking crew. Considering Cam Irving was almost out of football a couple years ago, I can't be too upset how he did blocking him tonight. I feel like the Rams really need Talib back just like the Chiefs really need Berry back to help solidify their defenses. Both offenses can score with anyone. Did Gurley get hurt? He was strangely absent from the game plan I thought.- Risk vs Reward
What do you mean? They're not that bad.- The Road To The Super Bowl 2019
Was a heck of a game. The Chief's defense was better than I expected them to be and Mahomes tried to do too much at the end. He had the time and weapons, just needed to do what they did the rest of the game instead of trying to win it in one play. As great as the rest of his stats were, 2 lost fumbles and 3 INTs isn't going to let your team win many games, and it still came down to the last drive. Got to clean up the penalties, but that's been a problem all year. I don't think this year is their year yet, but Mahomes potential has me really excited for the future.- Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Somebody out there is putting them to use. I wish I knew who it was, I could really hook them up.- Wrong species new un official lake record
Is it a blue or channel? Initial reaction was a blue but the more I look at it the more I think giant channel. The best indicator got covered up.- For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
The bass were really grouped up Friday at Shawnee when we were there, as were the white bass and wipers (finally caught some wipers from that lake even though they were the same size as the white bass). We'd go a long time with no bites, then catch 10 off the same spot. Had a pretty solid pattern figured out by the end of the day. Only saw 1 smallmouth all day, my buddy had it on a Ned rig, probably 2 pounds, but his line when he lifted it into the boat and it flopped right back in. I may go back this Friday, undecided yet.- The Haunting
Fishing the Central Division Regional tournament for the BASS Weekend Series several years ago on a God forsaken lake in Indiana, Patoka Lake. The top qualifiers got to go to Florida for the Championship on Okeechobee. The guy I got paired with for my boater the first day had no idea what to do. We ran all around the lake that was way too small for the number of boats and seemed like it had enough bass in it for every other person to maybe catch 1 or 2 in 2 days. I think I might have caught one about 8" long on a trick worm but I know for sure my boater never caught a fish. I wasn't out of it though, the first day leader had 5 pounds with 1 fish. Day 2 my boater had weighed fish the first day so I had some confidence we'd at least be around fish. By some miracle, around 10am I drum a Bitsy Bug jig off a rock ledge and it just disappeared. I caught a the hardest earned 2.5lb fish I can ever remember catching. Know I knew I had a real shot at qualifying if it was as tough as the first day was. My boater boxed 2 fish on a hair jig, something I had none of, but he was pitching it to stumps on a spinning rod so I went the opposite direction and started fishing a big thumping spinnerbait around the stumps and laydowns. I'd been throwing it for probably an hour with no signs of life and had really gone into autopilot, looking around instead of paying attention, when I pulled the bait down a big log. I felt the tick, I know in heart that fish had the bait, but I was so zoned out that all I did was look at where my bait had just been instead of setting the hook. There was my bait, continuing it's course towards the boat, and right at the end of the log was a giant boil still swirling on the surface where the fish had attacked my bait. Just seeing the size of the swirl, it had to be at least a 4-5 pound fish, the cut for the final day ended up being not even 4.5 pounds on the non-boater side. I threw a couple more times at the log but as lots of non-boaters know, I was at the mercy of my boater and he had no interest in giving me any extra cast at the fish as we kept working down the bank. Something like 11 or 12 pounds ended up winning the non-boater side and if I'd caught that fish I would have gone to Florida.- Black Friday Sale!
