  1. Caught red handed
  2. I use a lot of sliders, keep hoping a mold will come out for them but I don't think they're popular enough with today's fishermen.
  3. Never seen a Kalin's grub with salt on the outside so I'm assuming they're all salt impregnated. Gopher is out of business as far as I'm aware. Last I heard guys weren't getting their orders for weeks and no answers to their calls or emails. A jighead with a 2/0 hook is pretty big for a 4" grub though.
  4. Great looking fish! Hopefully I'll be able to get back into the night fishing game next year. Did about 30 minutes from the bank earlier this week before work and caught a few little ones, really miss those cooler temps and feeling like I'm all alone in the world out there.
  5. It isn't just the baitfish that you dump that are the issue with dumping bait. Golden Shiners are perfectly fine and help in a lot of bodies of water, but zebra mussel and quagga mussel veligers are microscopic and can live in a drop of water. Eurasian Watermilfoil can take hold with just a couple small pieces of a plant or seeds and completely choke out a pond or small lake (I've gotten to witness this one personally destroy an amazing small lake). A lot of people out there couldn't tell a juvi Asian carp from a store bought minnow or cast net caught shad without some help. Is it a Chicken Little the sky is falling view of it? Perhaps, but I have the pleasure of fishing lakes with zebra mussels, Eurasian Watermilfoil, Curlyleaf Pondweed, White Perch, and all the species of Asian Carp. You don't want to have to deal with any of them. The little good those few shiners might do for a couple fish isn't worth the potential harm that could be done if one of those invasive species is accidentally introduced.
  6. I'd report him without a doubt. You and everyone else is paying fees and buying license and permits that is paying to stock and manage the lake just for him to break the laws and think it's okay just because no one is watching. Even easier to do it if he's dumb enough to post about it on social media, all the evidence is right there for the officer's to cite him at the very least.
  7. I caught a largemouth with a bright yellow tail, but the rest of the body was normal colored. It's pretty amazing that they beat the odds and survive to adulthood. This is one of the coolest off colored fish I've caught.
  8. Watermelon seed, I've caught some.on it, but nothing like all the variations with colored flakes in it.

  10. Learning something new is what keeps it interesting. I try to learn something every time I'm out, no matter how small.
  11. I've got almost 9 years at my department and we bid by seniority, I could get whatever shift I want. I'm just one of those weirdos that prefers to work nights.
  12. I've been doing it for over a decade now, don't worry, it never goes away.
  13. Those 2 man boats are really awkward to move. I've owned 2 and they always felt way heavier than what they said they weighed, even when they were brand new.
  14. I buy a lot of my baits off Ebay. You can often find them cheaper than normal price with free shipping if you look around a little bit. Last week for example, I've been wanting to try a 75 Plopper but didn't want to put together a whole TW order. Got on the Bay and found them for a dollar cheaper a bait with free shipping, got in the day I was going fishing and got to put it to good use the day I got it.
  15. Welcome!
  16. I found both of mine, one in a tree and one in a weedline.
  17. Kind of like fishing a jerkbait, but with the reel instead of the rod tip if that makes any sense. I've done best with Bone and Lite Trout.
  18. Ultralight fishing is fun, but isn't practical for everyday bass fishing techniques. Additionally, when water temps are high like they typically are this time of year, a long, drawn out fight on light tackle might be more stress on a fish than it's capable of recovering from.
  19. 90 is pretty standard weather here all summer, fish bite in it all day long. Find some cover that provides shade, some moving water that provides extra oxygen and cooler temps, a shade edge from a high hillside or tree lined shore, or fish the first drop into deeper water near feeding areas. It was 92 yesterday but I caught several from the bank in less than 5' of water, either flipping grass or in an area with shade and current.
  20. 1/8oz Roostertail seems to really catch the eye to tiny bass for me.
  21. Distance suffers greatly, but it still cast fairly well.
  22. Bandit Flat Maxx
  23. I've never done it but I don't see why it won't work if you can troll that slowly.
  24. As slow as I can make them swim works best for me.
