  1. I prefer the 4.8" but I'm mainly targeting larger fish that mainly feed in large gizzard shad with them.
  2. Much better. Last round of medication was last night. Feeling good enough to hook up to the boat and try to get back on the water today!
  3. Fisherman's Factory Outlet has Lightining Rod Shock 7' MY with a fork handle for $27.
  4. I don't start my motor on a lot of the smaller lakes, no reason to. Trailering isn't that hard, just back it in a touch further and stretch the strap out further.
  5. Yes, but it's trolling motors only and no exceptions for loading them up either.
  6. SMP has some big fish, plenty big enough to eat those trout. I've never swimbaited it yet, but will be in the future. That lake is coming back strong. It has some giant wipers too. Make sure you have the permits and follow all boating and fishing regulations for the county, the park police out there hand out tickets like candy on Halloween.
  7. 3.8 keitech fat impact
  8. No idea if they did or not but I'm sure Booyah didn't release a bait that would violate their patent if they did.
  9. They just came out the last week or two and with probably half the country still having hard water, I seriously doubt anyone has done more than make a cast with one. The Booyah is supposed to have an adjustable tail to change the sound it makes. I've seen videos where you can clearly hear that it does make different sounds based on the settings of the tail. I love Booyah frogs and plan on owning some. The Sprinker was a very successful bait for me but I held off using them a ton because they were so hard to get. Won't be an issue with these frogs I'm sure.
  10. Haven't been sick all winter, that took a big turn yesterday. Aches, congestion, nausea, lightheadedness, bad chills, and a really low temp (95.7). Went to the doctor today, it's the flu. First time I've ever got the flu shot was this year, probably the last too. Doctor said no work this week. Wife called on the way home and said our oldest has it too, going to be a rough week.
  11. 123 pounds from Elk City Reservoir in Kansas on a Zebco and 12lb test while he was crappie fishing.
  12. I don't ship rods anymore because the price and headache.
  13. The last video I posted was a 20+ pound flathead I caught during a tournament on a Ned rig, and we still won it ?
  14. It was not an easy task. Thankfully I still have some youth and size on my side.
  15. I just pushed the boat off the trailer and flipped it over myself.
  16. I prefer a 4.8 keitech fat impact or 4.75" rage swimmer on mine.
  17. For working on the trailer I just take it to the nearest lake and tie it to the dock while I do my trailer work. If you're working on the underside of the boat, will depend a lot on what type/side boat.
  18. Thanks. We don't grow much big in Kansas, but flatheads are one of the things we do right, including the world record.
  19. Actual sheepshead are saltwater fish and look a bit different than a freshwater drum, also frequently called a sheepshead. They do have a pretty nice grill though. Drum do have crusher type "teeth", but they're located at the back of their throat for dealing with craws and clams.
  20. Black buzzbait, don't really care what kind if it's just a general "What's your favorite", question. If I was going to be more specific, a 1/2oz black Cavitron with the red or black blade, or a 3/4oz Crock-O-Gator, black on black. I can cover lots of water, they're good around cover, big fish love them.
  21. It's mainly the direct connect head and the coffin blade that get folks in trouble.
  22. I use 2 pairs of bullnose pliers from Harbor Freight. Can bend up to 3 at a time like that.
  23. Nice flathead. I'd have guessed mid to high 30's, so that's probably about right for that fish on the scale. I love catching flatheads, have caught several large ones fishing for bass and used to target them often. This one was on a jig and in the low 40's for size reference.
  24. Large drum are actually almost exclusively fish eaters, along with some craws and clams. I think it probably varies by body of water, but lots of folks around here eat them and some claim them to be right up there with walleye and crappie. I don't eat fish, so I can't confirm yes or no. I've used them for cut bait plenty of times, and they do have a white, firm feeling fillet. Closely related to redfish and black drum of the ocean, both popular food fish, so thinking they could be decent to eat isn't really that crazy. I've got a reputation of being able to catch a drum out of mud puddle. Several times I've caught them in lakes that "Don't have any drum", and I even took a run at the state record not that long ago. If I could just catch one on topwater, I feel I'd have little left to accomplish in my fishing career.
  25. Nice fish! You're tougher than I am to be dressed like that in 35* degree weather!
