  1. Same experience I've had with the pink. I haven't used the yellow though to say for sure that it's the same.
  2. Thanksgiving is usually a good day to be on the water because so few other people are
  3. Been really windy here the last 2 days. Noticed I could't see my deer blind and was afraid it might have blown away. I was right, but it didn't go far. That water was COLD!
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an easy win for them. The Chiefs just played one of the Chiefiest games I've ever seen in my 30+ years of being a fan and are 1-4 in their last 5 games and have nothing going in any facet. I had hopes they'd fix things after the bye week and do like they should do and win out the rest of the way with the easiest schedule down the stretch, but now I could see them not winning another game and missing the playoffs. I kind of hope they do some maybe we'll get to see Mahommes play before next year since they're obviously going nowhere even if they do get a WC spot.
  5. It was a good weekend for big "other" fish. Monday I had 3 trout over 4 pounds, including a 6.31 and 6.76 pound rainbow off the same spot on the same bait. I'm still not convinced it wasn't the same fish, just not sure how to account for the half a pound it would have had to gain the 5 minutes between catches. Tuesday I was after wipers and they showed up big time. I caught several, had a giant straighten a 4X strong #4 treble on my jigging spoon, and broke my lake PB twice, first with an 8.22, then a crazy fat 9.04. A "little" 6.5 The 8.22 that was almost digesting my jigging rap shad. and the 9.04 that was about as tall as it was long and super thick.
  6. Considering your location, pretty hard to beat a Senko fished around the vegetation.
  7. I have one from Academy that works well. I can deploy it with 1 hand while fighting a fish.
  8. I bring too much, but I've culled out a lot of tackle this past season. I carry 1 box of cranks, that's it. I've gotten rid of a ton of the baits that are similar colors (no more green pumpkin/red/blue/magic/candy/purple/orange), just sticking to standard colors and 1 or 2 companies. It's cut down a bunch of weight in the boat and opened up a lot of storage space. I've also tried to keep fewer rods on the deck. In the past, I've averaged 8-12 rods on the deck per trip. My target is 4 rods now, but it's usually 5-7. I notice a lot of similar baits being out and tried to cut down on it. I feel like I do better when I simplify things.
  9. I fish braid on several baitcasters, but never with a leader and you're experiencing why first hand. I'd rather deal with, maybe, a few less bites a day versus bites that end up in lost fish, lures, leader, and time.
  10. Mine was mostly in reference to while skipping docks. Fishing several lakes like LOZ, Table Rock, and several smaller local lakes with lots of docks, being able to skip a baitcaster without worrying about bad backlashes all the time is great. In open water situations backlashes shouldn't be a big concern with any reel that is set properly. My Zillion outdistanced the Scorpion and Curado 70 as well with baits down to 1/4oz though, not by a huge distance, but noticeable. I've been a Shimano guy my whole life until the last few years, but I'm really glad I gave the Diawa a try and plan on getting more in the future.
  11. That's strange, my Assassin is the furthest casting reel I own, part of why I use it for traps is it's ability to launch a bait. It was a little finicky getting it dialed in just right, but now that it is I never mess with the settings. I can't fault you for buying all the Curados and Chronarchs you can get for less than $60 though.
  12. Whatever your favorite technique is, buy a technique specific rod for it. Most of my high end rods are jig rods, because that's what I like to do, but if you hate jig fishing, it doesn't make any sense for you to buy one for your first high end rod.
  13. I'm to the point that I almost prefer this time of year. Less boat traffic, less fishing pressure, and the big fish are more cooperative. I'm still getting fish in 1-2 feet of water with 46* water temps. You don't have to go deep just because the water is cooling off.
  14. Stocked, no where in KS for trout to reproduce and only 1 lake they survive year round in any numbers. I caught 2 that were 2 pounds bigger than that one on Monday
  15. I showed the video to my oldest son, he was pumped up about it. Now he just has to wait until Christmas to actually get to play with it
  16. I never use a leader with braid on a baitcaster. I also rarely fish jigs on braid though. I much prefer straight copolymer for jigs.
  17. There's a balsa squarebill that I've only seen locally at a little tackle shop that comes through anything you can throw it in, which is one of the main things I look for in a squarebill. They're also $50 apiece and come with no hardware. My most productive bait I've been using recently is the new Booyah Flex II. They have a really nice wide wobble and come through cover very well. Comes with good hooks and they cast very well even into the stiff wind I'm so often faced with.
  18. 4.8" Fat Swing Impact
  19. I bought 2 of the 7' MHM KVD Tour cranking rods for $30 each from Academy. The Ethos Composite Cranker from Academy is also a very nice, budget priced cranking rod.
  20. https://m.ebay.com/itm/KastKing-137-300-500-1000M-Dyneema-100-PE-Spectra-Braid-Fishing-Line-8LB-150LB/191933837998?var=491015810060&hash=item2cb025f2ae:g:q3YAAOSwax5YpFOY
  21. Pflueger and Okuma, namely the Supreme XT and Helios TCS, but I also have several Presidents, a Supreme, and a Cerros. I really like my Zillion TWS SV though and will be getting more in the future.
  22. The I series had issues with constantly needing to have a small amount of oil added or they'd become very noisy and lose casting distance. This was part of the reason I got rid of all mine. I was a Shimano guy for years, but their new stuff recently has not been impressive and it's gotten to where I feel like a lot of what I was paying for was the Shimano name. I don't think I'd ever get rid of my old B Curados, Chronarchs, or Calcuttas though.
  23. Yes, you can skip with a Calcutta, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
  24. It's stayed very well with the line I've been using. I've used it on several reels for almost a full season now and it's still very pink.
