  1. Welcome!
  2. Big drum are hard pullers. I like to sight fish them when I see them. They're a sucker for a Ned rig but I've caught them on about everything.
  3. Welcome!
  4. I use a 1/16ozand it varies from slowly along the bottom to almost skimming the surface depending on where the minnows are holding.
  5. Got the yak out for a couple hours last week and did pretty well.
  6. He might have already
  7. It saves a boatload of money for someone like myself that has a few dozen combos in the boat. Instead of having to buy a $20 spool of braid for every rod I use braid on, I buy a single spool and fill 2 reels with backing, then split the spool of braid between the 2. I do the same with expensive fluoro. It saves money and gives better performance because a full spool cast better and gives you the full effect of the reels retrieve speed.
  8. Make sure to look closely at the baits, some companies have their names on the molds so they'll be poured into the bait somewhere.
  9. I use Owner ST 36s primarily, but I'm also a fan of the Eagle Claw short shank EWG trebles that Wal-Mart carries, the Fletcher Shryock signature series I think. I did find a great deal on some Mustad KVD EWG short shanks this past winter and bought a couple hundred of them for very cheap and they've been good.
  10. Bought a ground blind and got it set up yesterday morning, hunted last night in the wind and 70 degree temps. Had a little fork hop the fence and spend the night trying to figure out what my blind was but he never spooked despite being downwind the entire night, so that was encouraging. It's cool to be able to get dressed, leave the house, and be hunting in 5 minutes too.
  11. Around 50 is my limit but like scaleface, I've had some big fish on buzzbaits when the snow was falling.
  12. Fizzing is the easiest, but using a weight to drop them back down deep and retrieving the weight works also if you're unsure of how to fizz them.
  13. I've used a tube as a DS weight, it allows me to lose hooks twice as fast!
  14. Well you got you answer so I'll just say congrats to your grandson, that is quite the catch for the young man!
  15. I bought 1 from the flea market forum and 1 from Ebay.
  16. Berkley Digger and Wild Thang. Storm Wiggle Wart. Spro Little John.
  17. They're not worth much more than what they were originally unless they're in the package, then you might get a couple extra dollars from a collector. I never had much luck for bass with them but I had one of the deeper diving ones that I could grind slowly through the rocks and almost always catch a couple flatheads if I stuck with it.
  18. I switched from mainly Shimano to mostly Pfluegar and Okuma this fall and have been very happy with the decision. I had no issues finding the Pfluegar Supreme XT for under $100 (normally $150), or the Okuma Helios or Helios TCS for right around $100 (both normally $200).
  19. I'll usually spool twice off a 150 yard spool of braid. Nowhere other than an alternate universe should I need more than 75 yards of braid to land even the largest bass swimming in my state.
  20. What setup (rod/reel/line), are you using?
  21. I've seen the pure albinos from this lake and they do have pink eyes like you're saying. This one wasn't 100% white (the adipose is nearly black), but it's easier to call it an albino than a white blue catfish or a white cat, which we have none of here (despite lots of river rats calling our blue cats "white cats" or "Mississippi white cats" due to their washed out look in the muddy water). The piebalds, or holstein catfish as they're sometimes called, are pretty wild looking fish. I'd like to catch a big one of either. Kansas' state record blue is over 100 pounds and the lake record for this lake is over 80 pounds, so catching a huge one isn't out of the question.
