  1. Hook keeper with hook bonnets and/or lure wraps to prevent those scratches on the rods. I have some cheap reels I don't care about how they look that I'll put a bait on the reel though.
  2. I'd rather change the handle than the grip. I have some of the reel grips and like Longo said, they're always sliding around and needing readjusted. Handles are more expensive, but way less hassle.
  3. Floor jack and jack stands, 10 minutes tops to take the wheels off the boat. There's a tire shop less than 2 miles from my work. Drop them off on the way in, pick them up on the way home and put them back on the boat. Then I don't have to mess with it on my days off. I'd like to know of a reputable tire shop around here where I could spend less than an hour just waiting to get my tires changed. They don't let you stand in the garage and watch them either, too big of a liability. The wait at the shop could very likely be half a day or more depending on how busy they are.
  4. He's right you know, there's no bass in Kansas!
  5. We do kind of our own version for our little weeknight tournaments. Everyone has to buy the same scale and we catch, weigh, release immediately. It's a group of guys off the forum from the KC area and we all know each other so it runs off the honor system (not much money in it anyways). We do biggest 5 and big bass though and "weigh in", is at the end of the night. So it's a bit like MLF, a bit like a regular tournament. it works well though and is a good time.
  6. No precision rifle for me, but I'm a decent shot with a bow
  7. I haven't had one break, but I've also only caught a grand total of 2 bass on them in all the time I've fished them. I just can't seem to get a fish to eat one. Both days I caught a fish on the bait, I had really good bites on other jerkbaits, but not on the Shadow rap or Shadow Rap Shads.
  8. You're going to have to get @.ghoti. to fill you in on this one.
  9. Hot water during the summer time really ramps up infections in fish. Some fish survive those infections, some won't. Not likely something to be concerned about though. The black spots are normal if they're what I'm picturing in my head.
  10. My last TW order a couple weeks ago was $350.62. Of course, as soon as it got here I remember some things I forgot to order. The collecting is half the fun for me.
  11. I get Bassmaster through subscription but probably won't continue when it runs out, no point when I can read almost all of it online for free.
  12. I had a Sahara and Symetre that were both binding on me. Part of the reason why I tried Pfluegar and now only own 1 Shimano spinning reel (CI4). It has to be a well known issue for them and has been going on for at least a few years now, I don't understand why it hasn't gotten resolved.
  13. Not to mention those old pistol grip rods weren't the most sensitive rods made.
  14. I bought some at a tackle shop by Beaver Lake that are the best ones I've ever used. For store bought the Yum Flash Mob Jr works well but they seem to break easier. Nope, nothing to see here. Seriously one of the most effective colder months baits out there. When the rig bite is on, nothing even comes close.
  15. I took the front and back out of mine. I went from having to work to fit 10 rods, to easily fitting nearly 30.

    Welcome!
  17. Carp disturb the bottom sediment and cause the water to get muddy, which can effect a bass' ability to find a bait. I've never had much luck catching largemouth around carp, but smallmouth seem to follow carp around, probably waiting for them to scare crawdads and other potential prey items off the bottom while they're rooting around.
  18. I will be trying some when it comes out I believe.
  19. You know how these things work, someone has to pick a date or it never happens.
