  1. I couldn't live in a place where the season was closed like it is there. No closed season in Texas or Florida and their bass seem to be doing alright.
  2. 2/0 EWG for the 3" 4/0 EWG for the 4" 6/0 EWG for the 5" I mainly use the 4" for T rigging, but the 5" is not at all too big. First fish I caught flipping the 5" was a smallmouth in fact, so a big largemouth will have no problems. The 5" would be huge on a jig though. I'd think a whole 4" would probably be better. Would be a lot of plastic to deal with on a hookset with the 5" The 3" is a great finesse bait or for smallmouth.
  3. Welcome!
  4. My swimbait PB was on a 7" Slammer. I think the 9" is probably still the best option. That huge one will just reduce your chances of catching anything.
  5. Nope, my buddy and I watched it shoot off the bottom and T bone it. It shocked both of us and wouldn't have believed it if we didn't watch it happen. Yes it's a grass carp.
  6. That's most of what our bass eat but they still eat the trout.
  7. Finally sort of getting the hang of catching fish out of the kayak. Setting the hook has been a difficult thing for me to figure out, but I'm getting there. Made the best of the 2 hours I had at a really tough lake.
  8. I've got a 189VLO that has been a great boat for the last couple years.
  9. The 6" is great because it catches numbers of fish as well as big fish and are very affordable.
  10. S Waver 168 is the only one that fits in the description for me. I like the bigger Shine Glide, not as big a fan of the smaller one. The Savage Gear 6" Line Thru would be my choice for a soft bait.
  11. Even the big one is really small though. I have a bigger one still in the package. Bought it before I saw one in the store, pretty disappointed with how small it is. I'm sure it will catch fish, but it's going to have to really impress me for me to want to buy another.
  12. Spro is more durable, but the Pad Crasher catches more fish and are cheaper.
  13. I landed this on a 168 S-Waver with stock hooks and rings, I think they'll handle a bass.
  14. I'm not running unless something is chasing me, or I'm chasing someone. I'm just not built for it. I need to get back in the weight room and drop some weight though, really let myself go this past year and I'm feeling it. Knees are starting to hurt, back hurts again, tired constantly, just felt better when I was in better shape. Good for you for taking that step.
  15. It's a very rare trip (like once very few years), that I don't catch a bass on a trip more than a couple hours.
  16. Bass and crappie do not interbreed. LMB can be almost completely black though, so you probably just saw a very dark bass.
  17. 25lb CXX probably has a breaking strain well over 30lbs, and a much thicker diameter than most 25lb lines. I use 17 and 20 on my swimbait combos, even throwing baits to 4ozs and it's never been an issue.
  18. Seaguar Kanzen will outcast PP by a long shot. I use it for flinging paddletail grubs like a Keitech for smallmouth. It cast a mile and has held up great, going into it's 3rd season now.
  19. Anyone that knows me knows I'm super into the trendy fashion and doing what looks cool I also love ignorant blanket statements. I know several guys who have had to have chunks cut out of them to remove skin cancer (one that missing most of his ear now, which is a great look). I wear contacts and if you do, you know what it's like to get sunblock infused sweat into your eyes during the heat of the summer, nothing like blurry vision for the rest of the day. Getting sunblock into every part of your ears, around your eyes, nose, and mouth, in your hair not covered by a hat, it's almost impossible. Or I could put one of these things on and be covered. That combined with a sun shirt and now a pair of sun gloves, all I have to sunblock is my legs, which are easy to get completely covered with sunblock. I don't dress to impress anyone on the water, anyone that's seen me with my holy sweatpants tucked into my camo Muck boots wearing a dirty hoodie when it's colder outside knows this.
  20. I own a pair of the Fisch Costas, very happy with them. I've owned several pairs of Costas and these ones fit me better than the rest have/do. I've heard they're great about taking care of people with damaged glasses, but I've never had to make a claim myself so I guess that's a testament to the durability.
  21. They do run a little shallower and have a very wide wobble, along with that distinct Rat-L-Trap sound. I have yet to catch a bass on one, but I did have this train wreck happen on one.
  22. I've owned or currently own a couple pairs of Wiley X, several pairs of Oakley's, several pairs of Costa's, and one not listed which is a pair of Revo sunglasses. I never could find a pair of Oakley's that I liked. The finish always wore off quickly from the frames and looked terrible. Wiley X frames don't fit my fat head right so I always ended up with a headache. I love my Costa's, especially since I finally splurged on some of the glass lenses and found a pair that really fits well. I like the Revo glasses I have really well too because they also fit very well. I'd like to try some Maui Jim's at some point but they're pretty expensive to just buy a pair to try.
  23. Have you tried yellow lenses in that situation? They brighten things up quite a bit for me. Amber can do pretty well in low light situations as well.
