  1. I like the Rage craw in cold water because it slows the fall so much.
  2. Plastic glidebait? Do you mean something like a fluke?
  3. I'm guessing anyone who thinks KVD is washed up hasn't kept up with MLF at all. Different format I know, but he still knows a thing or two about catching them.
  4. It's sort of like walking a spook below the surface or nearly on the surface in the case of that day. I don't do much with the rod like a jerkbait or WTD bait though, the reel does most of the work.
  5. Well I fish every chance I get, which is usually a few times a week, and I've been doing it pretty much since I was born and I turn 30 in a couple months, so I have to be getting close if I'm not there yet.
  6. I actually fish them quickly most of the time and get a pretty vicious reaction strike when they're on it. While it's not a numbers game, I've had many multiple fish, and a few days with over 2 dozen fish, on glides. Of course it depends where you fish. West coast where they see these things a lot, probably going to work a lot harder for those bites. Here in Kansas, they don't see big baits very often believe it or not.
  7. Appears they might be.
  8. I look forward to fishing in rain unless it's really cold or windy. I have a BPS 100MPH suit or Frogg Toggs depending on the temps. Fish usually get more aggressive during the rain so I'm typically covering water with a moving bait of some sort. If it's raining really hard it's never a bad idea to go home and open your reels up so they can dry and open your boxes up so they can dry out as well.
  9. Nice fish! I too have to give credit to guys like @A-Jay for holding my hand and helping me start to figure these baits out. I haven't caught anything impressive like that fish, but I have caught some of my first blade bait fish on purpose.
  10. It's more stable is one of the main reasons. I've never been in a canoe I didn't constantly feel like I was about to tip over, and I've spent a pretty fair amount of time in them. I really couldn't imagine trying to stand up in a canoe like I can my kayak. Lots of modification options out there for kayaks. Smaller and easier to transport, I can pick mine up and carry it on top of my shoulders. They sit lower to the water so it doesn't catch the wind as bad. Controlling one with one person is easier.
  11. Not much grass around here but banging into and grinding them along rocks is a great way to get bit.
  12. I don't believe I would be as successful but if I had to pick one color it would be green pumpkin.
  13. This is a pretty sorry sampling of the incredible fishing we had at Wilson County State Lake this past week, but at least I did get a couple of the stout spots on camera.
  14. Powerbait eggs or Gulp eggs on a slip sinker rig on the bottom, 2 eggs on a small egg hook or mosquito hook. The most novice of fishermen could catch trout with those baits.
  15. I would think it would be the other way around?
  16. Ned rig and it's not even close.
  17. I make my own but haven't really found one rig to be better than another. I prefer the ones with 4 outer arms and one inner arm. I fish mine on 20lb copolymer so the same size fluoro should be fine. I pour my own swimbait heads and use mostly 1/8oz or 1/4oz depending on depth. Keitech swing impacts, BPS Speed Shads, or Zoom swimming flukes are my favorite baits to put on them.
  18. They're in the same temperate bass family as white bass, striper, yellow bass, and hybrid striped bass. They're the smallest fish in the family and have a real taste for the eggs of other fish species, which makes them pretty unwanted. They're labeled as an ANS (Aquatic Nuisance Species), in Kansas, which means possessing them alive, using them for live bait, or transporting them alive is illegal. They've only shown up in a couple lakes and from what I've heard, I hope they don't get moved anywhere else.
  19. I don't use the seat at all, it's not even in my boat. So it's never an issue for me, but I'd just take it out before you run if it's not a screw in type.
  20. Welcome from the same fly over state!
