How early is too early for buzzbaits?
This is the same thing I've found. The water has to get warmer in the spring before they'll start eating them, while it can be several degrees colder and still be effective in the fall. I'm sure this has to do with them already being active in the fall versus just becoming active in the spring.

Goals for the 2016 Fishing Season
These were cold water fish. Everything around here has been thawed for a couple weeks now.

Should I be doing this ?
I've always loosened them if they're not going to be used for an extended period of time, but that's a pretty rare occasion.

Red Eye Shad Silent Stalker: is it actually silent?
It does

Wacky Rig Senko
I use a 1/0 or 2/0 wide gap finesse hook.

Choices, choices, choices!
I picked up a Dobyn's Fury 795 last week for smaller swimbaits and A-rigs. Made my first few cast with it yesterday and it worked terrific. Loaded very well and launched a Triple Trout and Punker a long ways. As long as the sensitivity is there and they prove to be durable they'll be a great buy at that $100 price point. I've had an Okuma TCS Mat Daddy punching rod for about a year now and have been really happy with it if you're willing to spend a little more. They're very light and sensitive and will haul some fish out of the thick stuff for sure.

20 minutes on the local puddle, sucks because I lost my only DS hook when I was just starting to figure them out. Also got one on a homemade hair jig.

Goals for the 2016 Fishing Season
They're not monsters but I'm giving it an honest effort. I had several other bites and would have caught more I'm sure but I broke off the one and only hook I had because I only had about 30 minutes to fish.

TROUT SEASON IS APPROACHING
My answer in that thread still applies.

Any interest in an online BR kayak/canoe tourney?
Assuming this is just a bragging rights type thing? How is a guy like me in Kansas going to compete with a guy in Texas or Florida where they're hoping to cull what would be a kicker here?

Quick Morning Trip to Lake Lanier
You can probably get enough hair out of the back seat of my truck or off the back deck of my boat to tie your own next time. If not, just pet Cassidee a few times with wet hands and you should have enough stuck to your hands to get the job done. Those are some great looking spots buzzed. I've heard of guys tying flies with Golden fur, but never seen a jig. I'm going to have to tie a trout jig with some now and see if I can make it work.

2016 Bassmaster Classic Grand Lake
There are a few stripers in Grand but not enough to be a viable population worth pursuing. Grand can be a really tough customer, but it can be amazing if you figure them out.

Bass Boat Rod Storage
I actually took the tubes out of my boat because I could only store about 15 rods in my locker with them in. There's over 30 in there without the tubes. I use the rod sleeves and reel covers to keep everything protected.

Wiggle wart colors
Don't repaint the old ones unless you're just planning on fishing them. You can probably sell them for enough to buy 2-3 new warts apiece. I've fished the RC but it's not very much like a wart. It kind of has the body style of the wart, but it swims like a 6A Bomber with a tighter, more uniform wobble. They're still a good bait, but not the wart replacement they were touted as being.

Windy weather bass fishing
I fish whatever I need to. Moving baits are easier, but they won't always eat them. I've had days where I had to fish a Ned rig in 20+ mph winds. It's kind of like trout fishing moving water. The wind carries my line and makes my bait parachute off the bottom and I wait until my line stops to signal a fish is there or I'm on the bottom. Bladed jigs and traps are my favorite if they'll hit them though.

Whopper Plopper Hooks
The stock hooks on my 130 started to straighten. I was using my frog rod (7' 3" H/F with 50lb braid), but switched them to #4 VMC Spark Points and haven't had any issues since. The split rings are fine.

Hook Size On Z-Man Shrooms Jigheads
I pour my own with a #1 hook. I've landed catfish over 10 pounds with them and pulled up logs and limbs so I'm pretty confident they'll handle any bass I hook on them.
