  1. They're similar in that they're both a plastic bait on a leadhead but that's where the similarities end.
  2. La Cygne was extra La Cygney (Cygnie?) Friday. I did get to try out the new Strike King Tungsten 2-tap RES, which seems like a pretty nice bait.
  3. I've had very little success with the KVD spinnerbaits, not sure why. I can catch them with War Eagle baits, but they're few and far between with SK.
  4. Any time I come across some reasonably priced pre-rap warts, I buy them.
  5. Welcome!
  6. I haven't held that particular rod but I use a 6'6" MH LTB for my bladed jigs and like it much more than the m/f I use to fish it on.
  7. I try your keep them just off the bottom, it doesn't always work that way though. That or when a fish is on and swims across a zebra mussel covered rock, limb, or dock post. A lot of days they'll like to eat then on the initial fall, then it does settle to the bottom where they get snagged occasionally. Baits that could normally be retrieved from a snag are lost in zebra mussel rocks.
  8. A 30 size President on a 6' 8" M/F Ethos and 8lb gamma copolymer
  9. A 7" MS Slammer in Hitch color caught me a very thick, bug-eyed old gal that went 6 on the nose.
  10. It's barely noticeable on the ones that I have with a Zoom Finesse worm. Maybe I need a smaller plastic but I don't fish anything much smaller.
  11. Yes, I use to have one in the basement of our old farm house. They kept very well but the dirt had to be turned constantly looking for dead ones because if one dies, they all die. I have a book somewhere on farming them with a ton of information.
  12. It seems like everyone I know has tons of crawlers in their yards, except for me. Until the last couple years I use to grab a few hundred of them and keep them in the basement and just use them as needed throughout the year. Now we don't have a basement and no way my wife is going to be okay with a cooler of crawlers in the fridge.
  13. Are you finding better success with the 4" VS the 5" ?
  14. Lots of guys are discovering how cheaply these heads can be made if they already pour baits. They're a pain to pour and even more of a pain to paint, but since the only thing I have to buy is the hooks, they cost me about $.04 apiece to make when I buy my hooks in 1,000 packs. Problem is, you can go through them very quickly and I only like to use the 1/16oz size, which there is only 1 cavity for in the mold, so I sing the Johnny Cash song as I'm pouring them "One Ned at a time".
  15. I've fished one several times, have yet to catch a fish or even have a bite on it.
  16. They were at Twisted Christmas the first time I went with Disturbed, Chevelle, and Sevendust. Disturbed was the headliner, but Stone Sour put on the best show.
  17. Original PP is cheap when you consider it will last you at least a few seasons if taken care of. I've got 80 and 130 on my flathead rods that's several years old and still going strong.
  18. I change most of mine out to either Owner or Eagle Claw. The few Berkley baits that I have with their new Fusion hooks are very impressive so far. They've been sticky sharp and held up to abuse very well.
  19. I like to use a 1/2 or 3/4oz football jig to count how many rocks are on the bottom.
  20. While I do love getting smallies to blow up on a fast moving spook, I look forward to that spring jerkbait bite way more than I do the topwater. I only got after them a few times with jerkbaits this year, but it always produces some of my biggest smallies of the year. This year, it produced the 2 largest in fact.
  21. I usually go with shad, chartreuse, bluegill, and craw colors. With as bad as I usually do with cranks, I don't know why I even buy that many.
