  1. Last week was so good that Coty and I went back this past Thursday. Numbers weren't quite as good but I had 3 over 18" and there were a couple big fish that should have made it to the boat. 2 of my keepers were on a Bull Shad, other was on a tube. Tube, spook, and squarebill did most of the damage, video to come once it's uploaded. I also had a nice sauger and Coty got a keeper eye on a tube that took the ride home with us We were slamming some BIG drum too.
  2. No way to call one the best but the day I caught a 30lb 2oz 5 fish limit in Kansas was way up the list. First fish of the day was a 7lb 2oz fish and by the end of the day my smallest in my top 5 was 5 even. The bass and wipers had the shad pushed up into a shallow, flat cove and point. It never made it above freezing so I was the only boat on the water and there was an area the size of a football field that almost constantly had fish blowing up somewhere on it. On top of the bass I caught over 40 wipers from 4 to 8lbs 2ozs as well.
  3. At least a dozen, mostly DT 6's.
  4. You'll be about half an hour from a little lake called Table Rock Fellows Lake is just northeast. It produced the longest muskie on record from Missouri not too long ago. Taneycomo is a straight shot down 65 for trout and largely overlooked bass.
  5. White River fingerless fleece gloves from BPS. They're something like $7 for pair and great for winter time fishing. I keep 3 or 4 pairs in the boat and just swap them out if they get wet.
  6. Jumped up .8 to $2.67 here yesterday.
  7. It's a salmon for sure, but no idea what kind. It looks like you might be right with your guess to me from looking at pictures.
  8. Congrats man! My little fishing buddy is closing in on 2 years old now. You'll hear this about a thousand more times but time flies, enjoy it every chance you get because they grow so fast.
  9. Carp swim very fast when you hook them, especially on the initial hookset. Catfish will hug the bottom and cruise around slowly forever if you let them. A 10-15 pound channel cat will tow a kayak around for a long time before giving up. Did you have lots of slime on your line or feel something smacking your line during the fight? Catfish will roll a lot of the time and slime your line up and you'll feel their tails slap the line when they do it.
  10. Looks pretty similar to a river round flat sinker. http://store.do-itmolds.com/River-Round-Flat-Sinker-Molds_c_176.html
  11. Sweet video! It has been a terrible year for the big baits for me unfortunately. You probably caught more fish in that video than I've caught on swimmers all year
  12. Yes, and the Ned Rig basically goes against everything most bass anglers are taught is the "right" way to fish so they dismiss it without ever trying it, I'm fine with that though.
  13. War Eagles in general are terrific. Almost the only spinnerbaits I carry.
  14. I'm sure a lot of guys know that I make bladed jigs and a few probably know that a local tackle store carries them. Every once in awhile someone will send me a picture of a big fish they caught on one, which is always cool. This is the first video I've seen of someone using one though, and one of the biggest bass I've heard of anyone catching on one! A real monster for Kansas. Always feels good to know you helped contribute directly to someone else's success.
  15. $2.59 here, has been for a few weeks now. I drive an hour south to one of my favorite lakes and it's $2.29
  16. No, just be gentle. Get the right size socket and tighten it down slowly and you'll be fine.
  17. When the water's cold is the time to get football spots at LOZ!
  18. Dang! No summertime skinny fish there!
  19. Caught my first one earlier this year on vacation in Florida, they're a hoot! I'm an avid multispecies angler though so I tend to appreciate anything that's willing to bite and pull hard.
